Application value of enhanced recovery after surgery for total laparoscopic uncut Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy after distal gastrectomy

AIM To evaluate the safety and feasibility of enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS) for total laparoscopic uncut Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy after distal *** The clinical data of 42 patients who were divided into an ERAS group(n = 20) and a control group(n = 22) were collected. The observed indicators included operation conditions, postoperative clinical indexes, and postoperative serum stress indexes. Measurement data following a normal distribution are presented as mean ± SD and were analyzed by t-test. Count data were analyzed by χ~2 *** The operative time, volume of intraoperative blood loss, and number of patients with conversion to opensurgery were not significantly different between the two groups. Postoperative clinical indexes, including the time to initial anal exhaust, time to initial liquid diet intake, time to out-of-bed activity, and duration of hospital stay of patients without complications, were significantly different between the two groups(t = 2.045, 8.685, 2.580, and 4.650, respectively, P < 0.05 for all). However, the time to initial defecation, time to abdominal drainage-tube removal, and the early postoperative complications were not significantly different between the two groups. Regarding postoperative complications, on the first and third days after the operation, the white blood cell count(WBC) and C reactive protein(CRP) and interleukin-6(IL-6) levels in the ERAS group were significantly lower than those in the control *** The perioperative ERAS program for total laparoscopic uncut Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy after distal gastrectomy is safe and effective and should be popularized. Additionally, this program can also reduce the duration of hospital stay and improve the degree of comfort and satisfaction of patients.

Expression and significance of Musashi-1 in gastric cancer and precancerous lesions

AIM:To investigate expression of stem cell marker Musashi-1(Msi-1)in relationship to tumorigenesis and progression of intestinal-type gastric cancer(GC).METHODS:Endoscopic biopsy specimens and surgical specimens were obtained,including 54 cases of intestinal-type GC,41 high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia,57low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia,31 intestinal metaplasia,and 36 normal gastric *** were fixed in 10%paraformaldehyde,conventionally dehydrated,embedded in paraffin,and sliced in 4-μm-thick serial ***-step immunohistochemical staining was used to detect Msi-1 and proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)*** analysis was conducted between Msi-1 and PCNA *** relationship between Msi-1 expression and clinicopathological parameters of GC was analyzed ***:There were significant differences in Msi-1and PCNA expression in different pathological tissues(χ2=15.37,P<0.01;χ2=115.36,P<0.01).Msi-1and PCNA-positive cells were restricted to the isthmus of normal gastric *** levels of Msi-1and PCNA in intestinal metaplasia were significantly higher than in normal mucosa(U=392.0,P<0.05;U=40.50,P<0.01),whereas there was no significant difference compared to low or high-grade intraepithelial ***-1 and PCNA expression in intestinaltype GC was higher than in high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia(U=798.0,P<0.05;U=688.0,P<0.01).There was a significantly positive correlation between Msi-1 and PCNA expression(rs=0.20,P<0.01).Msi-1expression in GC tissues was correlated with their lymph node metastasis and tumor node metastasis stage(χ2=12.62,P<0.01;χ2=11.24,P<0.05),but not with depth of invasion and the presence of distant ***:Msi-1-positive cells may play a key role in the early events of gastric carcinogenesis and may be involved in invasion and metastasis of GC.

PVP/PAN-derived porous carbon fiber for zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors

Porous carbon fibers are promising cathodes for zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors(ZHSs)owing to their abundant active sites,great conductivity,and stable physical and chemical ***,designing a proper preparation technique to regulate the microstructure of carbon fibers still remains a great ***,a poly vinylpyrrolidone/po-lyacry lonitrile(PVP/PAN)-derived porous carbon fiber is developed via the PVP/PAN blend electrospinning and hydrothermal selective PVP removal *** hydrothermal selective PVP removal strategy can effectively avoid a cross-linking between PVP and PAN during the traditional stabilization at air *** PVP/PAN-derived porous carbon fiber,the sufficient micropores provide abundant space for the Zn^(2+)storage,whereas the proper mesopores contribute to the fast ion *** hierarchical porous structures endow ZHSs with high specific capacity and high-rate *** ZHS assembled with the optimal PVP/PAN-derived porous carbon fiber(PVP-PANC-0.8)displays an outstanding specific capacity of 208 mAh·g^(-1),high rate capability(49.5%)from 0.5 to 5 A·g^(-1),and 72.25%capacity retention after 10,000 cycles at 0.5 A·g^(-1).

Dear Editor,Interleukin-25(IL-25,also called IL-17E)is an important IL-17 family member that helps initialize and regulate type 2 immunity,exerting an important influence on the pathogenesis of asthma(Corrigan et al.,2011;Barlow et al.,2012).Furthermore,it plays a vital role in initiating type 2 innate lymphoid cell activation and maintenance(Tong and Li,2018)and inducing Th2-type cytokine-mediated allergic airway eosinophilia(Morita et al.,2015).IL-25 expression increases in patients with asthma in different types of lung cells,including lung structural cells(such as endothelium and airway epithelium),eosinophils,T-cells,and mast *** allergen exposure,cells in the bronchial submucosa increase and secrete or respond to IL-25(Corrigan et al.,2011).Plasma IL-25 levels increase in patients with asthma and correlate with lung function(Cheng et al.,2014).The association between IL-25 cells and pulmonary function indicates that IL-25 could be used to monitor asthma *** some mouse models,epithelial IL-25 cytokines are closely related with a range of airway inflammation modalities,including type 2 cytokine production,airway eosinophil inflammation,mucinous epithelial metaplasia,and airway hyperresponsiveness(AHR)(Suzukawa et al.,2012).

Phase-boundary regulation boosting electrochemical reactivity of tin-based anodes for magnesium-ion batteries

Tin(Sn)-based materials are promising anodes for magnesium-ion batteries(MIBs) owing to their low reaction voltages, high theoretical specific capacities and good compatibility with conventional electrolytes. However, relatively arduous alloying reaction and sluggish diffusion kinetics limit their practical applications. Herein, we proposed a general strategy to regulate the electrochemical reactivity and performance of Sn-based anodes for Mg storage through the introduction of the second phase and phase boundary. The biphase Sn–Al, Sn–Pb and Sn–Zn O films were further fabricated via magnetron co-sputtering. Taking Sn–Al as an example, it has been revealed that the introduction of Al can effectively stimulate the electrochemical reaction of Sn with Mg in either nanoscale or bulk through combining experiments with density-functional theory calculations. Specially, the rolled Sn–Al electrode exhibits superior long-term stability over 5,000 cycles. Additionally, the Mg-storage mechanism of the Sn–Al electrode was investigated by operando X-ray diffraction. The Sn–Al anodes also demonstrate good compatibility with simple Mg-salt-based electrolytes like Mg(TFSI)2in full cells. More importantly, it has been authenticated that the activation effect of second phase and phase boundary to Sn is also applicable to Pb and Zn O. Our findings may provide a favorable reference for the development of alloy-type anodes for MIBs.

Polyhydroxylated eudesmane sesquiterpenoids and sesquiterpenoid glucoside from the flower buds of Tussilago farfara

Chemical fractionation of the n-BuOH partition,which was generated from the EtOH extract of the flower buds of Tussilago farfara,afforded a series of polar constituents including four new sesquiterpenoids(1-4),one new sesquiterpenoid glucoside(5)and one known analogue(6)of the eudesmane type,as well as five known quinic acid derivatives(7-11).Structures of the new compounds were unambiguously characterized by detailed spectroscopic analyses,with their absolute configurations being established by A-ray crystallography,electronic circular dichroism(ECD)calculation and induced ECD *** inhibitory effect of all the isolates against LPS-induced NO production in murine RAW264.7 macrophages was evaluated,with isochlorogenic acid A(7)showing significant inhibitory activity.
