Dicarboxyl-functionalized salen ligand 1,2-phenylendiamine-N,N＇-bis（3-tert-butyl-5-（carboxyl）-salicylide-ene （HAL） was synthesized in good yield from 3-tert-butyl-5-formyl-4-hy- droxybenzoic acid and used to construct a 2D zinc complex, [（ZnL）Zn3/2（BDC）1/2（DMSO）2]·3DMSO （1, BDC = 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate）, under mild reaction conditions. 1 was characterized by IR, microanalysis, TGA and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. It crystallizes in triclinic space group P^-1 with a = 11.3860（4）, b = 13.2636（5）, c = 17.5503（7） A, α = 92.2240（10）, β = 94.5070（10）, γ = 96.0580（10）°, V= 2624.52（17） A^3, Z = 2, Mr = 1143.62, Dc = 1.448 g/cm^3, F（000） = 1186, g = 1.395 mm^-1, GOOF = 0.993, the final R = 0.0380 and wR = 0.1280 for 21752 observed reflections with I 〉 20（I）. The 2D coordination polymer 1 is further assembled into a 3D supramolecular network structure via π…π interactions between the aromatic rings of the ligands in adjacent layers. Thermal gravimetric analysis demonstrates that 1 is a thermally robust structure with network decomposition temperatures of 420 ℃ and it also exhibits strong photoluminescence in the visible region.

Dipyridyl-functionalized salan ligand （H2L） was synthesized to construct a mono- nuclear Cu（salan） complex, [CuL（CHaCN）2（H2O）6] （1）, through diffusion method. 1 was characterized by IR, microanalysis, TGA and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. It crystallizes in orthorhombic space group P21212 with a = 17.6640（16）, b = 18.6750（16）, c = 16.0625（14） A, V = 5298.6（8） A3, Z = 4, Mr = 994.70, Dc = 1.247 g/cm3, F（000） = 2116,μ = 0.469 mm^-1, GOOF = 1.073, the final R = 0.0499 and wR = 0.1395 for 11816 observed reflections with 1 〉 2or（/）. In the title compound, the basic building unit consists of two mononuclear Cu（salan） which orient in opposite directions and are locked together via weak intermolecular C-H...π interactions. The adjacent building units are further directed into a 2D supramolecular network structure via H bonds, between which reside the guest acetonitrile and water molecules. In addition, the presence of exposed NH-functionalities and coordination unsaturated Cu centers in 1 provide a great chance to recognize tartaric acids through CD titration in solution.

A new ligand 2,5-di（pyridin-4-yl）benzaldehyde （L） was synthesized by the reaction of pyridin-4-yl-boronic acid with 2,5-dibromobenzaldehyde. Two novel CdII coordination polymers, [CdL（BDC）].DMF （1） and [CdL（BPDC）].4H2O （2）（BDC = 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate, BPDC = 4,4′-biphenyldicarboxylate）, have been constructed based on the mixed ligands of L and dicaboxylic acid via solvothermal synthesis, and characterized by IR, microanalysis, TGA, single and power X-ray diffraction, and their fluorescence properties were also investigated. 1 crystallizes in orthorhombic space group Pcca with a = 15.8236（3）, b = 16.0038（3）, c = 20.2207（3） A, V = 5120.64（16） A3, Z = 8, Mr = 633.83, Dc = 1.644 g/cm3, F（000） = 2528, GOOF = 1.130, the final R = 0.0568 and wR = 0.1513 for 4108 observed reflections with I〉 2σ（I）. 2 crystallizes in orthorhombic space group Pbcn with a = 29.1148（1）, b = 16.0120（6）, c = 16.7097（7） A, V = 7789.8（5） A3, Z = 8, Mr = 675.88, Dc = 1.153 g/cm3,/7（000） = 2712, GOOF = 1.088, the final R = 0.0670 and wR = 0.1805 for 6047 observed reflections with I〉 2σ（I）. The dinuclear Cd2（CO2）4 unit is linked by BDC in 1 to form a 2D sheet that is further pillared by L to create a 3D metal-organic framework, which possesses a parallelogram channel with diagonal distances of-13.3 × 17.6 A along the b direction. 2 is structurally similar to 1, but has larger diagonal distances of-14.0 × 26.7 A. due to the elongated auxiliary ligand BPDC compared with the BDC ligand in 1. They are both thermally stable and exhibit strong photoluminescence in the visible region.

Identification of greigite in lake sediments and its magnetic significance

Detailed rock magnetic investigations and mineralogical analysis were conducted on lacustrine sediments recovered from Zoigê Basin, eastern Tibetan Plateau. Greigite, with fine and homogenous grain size, is found as a main magnetic carrier, which is suspected to be of biochemical origin. In contrast to some reports, greigite within the sediments is not oxidized even after exposure to air for a few years, which could be due to the fact that greigite is sealed by silicate.

Seed germination of plants with various acid-resis tance display different responses to acid *** understand the reason why such differences occur,the effects of sim ulated acid rain(pH 2.5-5.0)on the activities of peroxidase(POD)and catalase(CAT)during sced ger-mination of rice(***),wheat(***),and rape(*** ***)were investigated.R cesults indi-cated that the maximum change in activities of CAT and POD by acid rain treatment with different acidity and time in relation to the referent treatment without acid rain,was in the order:rice(28.8%,31.7%)wheat(4.0)>rape(5.0).Moreover,the change in activity of POD was higher than that of CAT,which showed that POD was more sensitive to acid rain stress than *** difference in the ability of POD and CAT in removing free radicals was one reason why the germina-tion indexes of these three species behaved differently.

Convection in a horizontal fluid layer heated from below is one of models for studying patterns of convection in binary fluid mixtures and has been extensively studied. In this article, the convection structures in a rectangular cell were investigated for the aspect-ratio Г= 12 and the separation ratio ψ = -0.47. Simulations were preformed by solving the hydrodynamic equations using the SIMPLE method. A Counter Propagating Wave （CPW） state was found in binary fluid convection with a periodically horizontal motion of defects, and the pattern dynamics was further discuss.

We introduce Tsallis mapping in Bianconi-Barabgsi （B-B） fitness model of growing networks. This mapping addresses the dynamical behavior of the fitness model within the framework of nonextensive statistics mechanics, which is characterized by a dimensionless nonextensivity parameter q. It is found that this new phenomenological parameter plays an important role in the evolution of networks： the underlying evolving networks may undergo a different phases depending on the q exponents, comparing to the original B-B fitness model, and the corresponding critical transition temperature Tc is also identified.
