In this study, the upper ocean heat content （OHC） variations in the South China Sea （SCS） during 1993- 2006 were investigated by examining ocean temperatures in seven datasets, including World Ocean Atlas 2009 （WOA09）（climatology）, Ishii datasets, Ocean General Circulation ModeI for the Earth Simulator （OFES）, Simple Ocean Data Assimilation system （SODA）, Global Ocean Data Assimilation System （GODAS）, China Oceanic ReAnalysis system （CORA） , and an ocean reanalysis dataset for the joining area of Asia and Indian-Pacific Ocean （AIPO1.0）. Among these datasets, two were independent of any numerical model, four relied on data assimilation, and one was generated without any data assimilation. The annual cycles revealed by the seven datasets were similar, but the interannual variations were different. Vertical structures of temperatures along the 18~N, 12.75~N, and 120~E sections were compared with data collected during open cruises in 1998 and 2005-08. The results indicated that Ishii, OFES, CORA, and AIPO1.0 were more consistent with the observations. Through systematic shortcomings and advantages in presenting the upper comparisons, we found that each dataset had its own OHC in the SCS.

The first decadal leading mode of East Asian summer rainfall(EASR) is characterized by rainfall anomalies along the East Asian subtropical rain belt. This study focuses on the second decadal leading mode(2DLM), accounting for 17.3% of rainfall decadal variance, as distinct from the other two neighboring modes of EAMR, based on the state-of-the-art in-situ rainfall *** mode is characterized by a South-China-wet–HuaiheRiver-dry pattern, and is dominated by a quasi-30-yr period. Further analysis reveals the 2DLM corresponds to an enhanced lower-level monsoon jet, an eastward extension of the western North Pacific subtropical high, and a weakened East Asian upper-level westerly jet flow. The Tibetan Plateau surface temperature and Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO) are closely linked with the 2DLM. The regressed SST pattern indicates the PDO-like pattern of sea surface temperature anomalies may have a teleconnection relationship with the 2DLM of EASR.

This study developed a hierarchical Bayesian(HB)model for local and regional flood frequency analysis in the Dongting Lake Basin,in *** annual maximum daily flows from 15 streamflow-gauged sites in the study area were analyzed with the HB *** generalized extreme value(GEV)distribution was selected as the extreme flood distribution,and the GEV distribution location and scale parameters were spatially modeled through a regression approach with the drainage area as a *** Markov chain Monte Carlo(MCMC)method with Gibbs sampling was employed to calculate the posterior distribution in the HB *** results showed that the proposed HB model provided satisfactory Bayesian credible intervals for flood quantiles,while the traditional delta method could not provide reliable uncertainty estimations for large flood quantiles,due to the fact that the lower confidence bounds tended to decrease as the return periods ***,the HB model for regional analysis allowed for a reduction in the value of some restrictive assumptions in the traditional index flood method,such as the homogeneity region assumption and the scale invariance *** HB model can also provide an uncertainty band of flood quantile prediction at a poorly gauged or ungauged site,but the index flood method with L-moments does not demonstrate this uncertainty ***,the HB model is an effective method of implementing the flexible local and regional frequency analysis scheme,and of quantifying the associated predictive uncertainty.

A class of generalized complex Burgers equation is considered. First, a set of equations of the complex value functions are solved by using the homotopic mapping method. The approximate solution for the original generalized complex Burgers equation is obtained. This method can find the approximation of arbitrary order of precision simply and reliably.

This paper discusses an important issue related to filter divergence in the dimension-reduced projection,four-dimensional variational data assimilation(DRP-4-DVar) *** experiments with the Lorenz-96 model over a period of 200 days showed that the amplitudes of the root mean square errors(RMSEs) reached the same levels as those of the state variables after approximately 100 days because of the accumulation of sampling errors following the cycle of *** to reduce sampling errors are critical to ensure the quality of ensemble-based *** experiments showed that localization and reducing observational errors can alleviate,but cannot completely overcome,the filter divergence in the DRP-4-DVar approach,while the method of perturbing observations and the inflation technique can efficiently eliminate the filter divergence problem.

Autism spectrum disorder（ASD） is a neurodevelopmental disorder, which occurs during early age and the symptoms may last throughout the lifetime of patients. Clinical diagnosis of ASD primarily relies on behavioral manifestations and currently no satisfactory biomarker is available. In the present study, the magnetic resonance imaging technique was used to obtain resting-state functional images of the brain from 4-5 years old children with ASD and matching typically developing children（TDC）. Based on a machine learning method, we classified children with ASD and TDC. We further divided children with ASD into three categories, which were active, passive and aloof with Beijing Autism Subtyping Questionnaire（BASQ）. The classification scores and behavioral scores were correlated and analyzed. The results showed:（1） Children with ASD and TDC were classified with 95.88% accuracy, 98.70% sensitivity and 85.11% specificity. The optimal functional connectivity features were 145.（2） The classification score of autistic children were positively correlated with ADOS（r = 0.321, p = 0.0056）, CARS（r = 0.363, p = 0.0012）, and ABC（r = 0.253, p = 0.0266） scores, and were negatively correlated with developmental quotient（r =-0.328, p = 0.0046） and vocabulary（r =-0.285, p = 0.0147）. However, no correlations between classification score and behavioral score were found in TDC. It suggests that classification scores were consistent with symptoms in children with ASD.（3） Classification of different social interaction types in autistic children was obtained with 84.42% accuracy, 84.42% sensitivity and 91.15% specificity. The optimal functional connectivity features were 340.（4） The predict probability of active type was positively correlated with active score（r = 0.496, p = 0.0001）, and negatively correlated with passive score（r =-0.400, p = 0.0022） and aloof score（r =-0.470, p = 0.0003） of BASQ. This study investigates the impacts of tropical storms originated from the Bay of Bengal(BOBTSs) on the precipitation and soil moisture over the Tibetan Plateau(TP) in April–June(AMJ) and September–December(SOND) during 1981–2011 based on the best track dataset provided by Joint Typhoon Warning Centre(JTWC). Results indicate that there are about 1.35 BOBTSs influence the TP in each year and most of them occurred in May and October, and the BOBTSs in AMJ influence the TP with larger extension and higher latitudes than those in SOND. The maximum regional precipitation induced by the BOBTSs accounts for more than 50% for the total precipitation in the corresponding month and about 20% for the season. Further analysis reveals that the surface soil moisture anomalies induced by the BOBTSs can persist only 20–25 days in AMJ, and the case is also true for the snow depth in SOND. Numerical simulations by using the regional climate model of Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) suggest that the soil moisture anomalies in the sub-surface can last 2 months whereas for the surface it can persist only about 20 days, which agrees well with the observation analysis. Overall, the effect of the preceding BOBTSs on the snow depth and soil moisture anomalies over the TP cannot maintain to summer, and there is no robust connection between the BOBTSs and summer precipitation anomalies in East China. Moreover, since the mid-1990 s, the spring rainfall induced by the BOBTSs over the TP seems to be enhanced to a certain degree because of the intensified BOBTSs.

This study investigated the second indirect climatic effect of anthropogenic aerosols,including sulfate,organic carbon(OC) ,and black carbon(BC) ,over East *** seasonal variation of the climatic response to the second indirect effect was also *** simulation period for this study was *** to a decrease in autoconversion rate from cloud water to rain as a result of aerosols,the cloud liquid water path(LWP) ,and radiative flux(RF) at the top of the atmosphere(TOA) changed dramatically,increasing by 14.3 g m-2 and decreasing by-4.1 W m-2 in terms of domain and annual *** LWP and RF changed most in autumn. There were strong decreases in ground temperature in Southwest China,the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in spring and autumn,while maximum cooling of up to-1.5 K occurred in the Chongqing *** regional and annual mean change in ground temperature reached-0.2 K over eastern *** all seasons except summer,precipitation generally decreased in most areas north of the Yangtze River,whereas precipitation changed little in South *** changed most in summer,with alternating bands of increasing(～40 mm) and decreasing(～40 mm) precipitation appearing in eastern *** decreased by 1.5-40 mm over large areas of Northeast China and the Huabei *** domain and annual mean change in precipitation was approximately-0.3 mm over eastern *** maximum reduction in precipitation occurred in summer,with mean absolute and relative changes of-1.2 mm and-3.8%over eastern *** study revealed considerable climate responses to the second indirect effect of aerosols over specific regions of China.
