Interfacial growth of N,S-codoped mesoporous carbon onto biomass-derived carbon for superior potassium-ion storage

Carbonaceous materials have been recognized as one of the most promising anode materials for potassium-ion batteries(PIBs)due to their abundant raw materials,controllable structure,superior conductivity,and good chemical inertness.However,the large radius of K ions and the low potassium content of intercalation compounds result in the sluggish storage kinetics and low reversible capacity of carbon anodes.In this work,we present a unique heteroatom-doped carbon composite(denoted as NS-MC/SC)through a facile interfacial assembly route and simple heat-treatment process,where NS-MC is well grafted onto the biomass-derived spore carbon(SC).This unique structural design endows it with abundant mesoporous channels,expanded layer spacing,and highly doped N and S.With these merits,the NS-MC/SC anode in PIBs exhibits a high reversible capacity of 350.4 mAh·g^(-1) at 100 mA·g^(-1) after 300 cycles,and an outstanding cycling stability.Besides,in-situ Raman spectra further verify the high reversibility of K ions insertion/extraction.Importantly,theoretical simulations also reveal that the N,S dual-doping is an efficient approach for improving the potassium-ion storage performance of NS-MC/SC.

Two-Stage Optimal Scheduling of Community Integrated Energy System

From the perspective of a community energy operator,a two-stage optimal scheduling model of a community integrated energy system is proposed by integrating information on controllable loads.The day-ahead scheduling analyzes whether various controllable loads participate in the optimization and investigates the impact of their responses on the operating economy of the community integrated energy system(IES)before and after;the intra-day scheduling proposes a two-stage rolling optimization model based on the day-ahead scheduling scheme,taking into account the fluctuation of wind turbine output and load within a short period of time and according to the different response rates of heat and cooling power,and solves the adjusted output of each controllable device.The simulation results show that the optimal scheduling of controllable loads effectively reduces the comprehensive operating costs of community IES;the two-stage optimal scheduling model can meet the energy demand of customers while effectively and timely suppressing the random fluctuations on both sides of the source and load during the intra-day stage,realizing the economic and smooth operation of IES.

Highly Porous Yet Transparent Mechanically Flexible Aerogels Realizing Solar-Thermal Regulatory Cooling

The demand for highly porous yet transparent aerogels with mechanical flexibility and solar-thermal dual-regulation for energy-saving windows is significant but challenging.Herein,a delaminated aerogel film(DAF)is fabricated through filtration-induced delaminated gelation and ambient drying.The delaminated gelation process involves the assembly of fluorinated cellulose nanofiber(FCNF)at the solid-liquid interface between the filter and the filtrate during filtration,resulting in the formation of lamellar FCNF hydrogels with strong intra-plane and weak interlayer hydrogen bonding.By exchanging the solvents from water to hexane,the hydrogen bonding in the FCNF hydrogel is further enhanced,enabling the formation of the DAF with intra-layer mesopores upon ambient drying.The resulting aerogel film is lightweight and ultra-flexible,which pos-sesses desirable properties of high visible-light transmittance(91.0%),low thermal conductivity(33 mW m^(-1) K^(-1)),and high atmospheric-window emissivity(90.1%).Furthermore,the DAF exhibits reduced surface energy and exceptional hydrophobicity due to the presence of fluorine-containing groups,enhancing its durability and UV resistance.Consequently,the DAF has demonstrated its potential as solar-thermal regulatory cooling window materials capable of simultaneously providing indoor lighting,thermal insulation,and daytime radiative cooling under direct sunlight.Significantly,the enclosed space protected by the DAF exhibits a temperature reduction of 2.6℃ compared to that shielded by conventional architectural glass.

Orbital angular momentum-mediated machine learning for high-accuracy mode-feature encoding

Machine learning with optical neural networks has featured unique advantages of the information processing including high speed,ultrawide bandwidths and low energy consumption because the optical dimensions(time,space,wavelength,and polarization)could be utilized to increase the degree of freedom.However,due to the lack of the capability to extract the information features in the orbital angular momentum(OAM)domain,the theoretically unlimited OAM states have never been exploited to represent the signal of the input/output nodes in the neural network model.Here,we demonstrate OAM-mediated machine learning with an all-optical convolutional neural network(CNN)based on Laguerre-Gaussian(LG)beam modes with diverse diffraction losses.The proposed CNN architecture is composed of a trainable OAM mode-dispersion impulse as a convolutional kernel for feature extraction,and deep-learning diffractive layers as a classifier.The resultant OAM mode-dispersion selectivity can be applied in information mode-feature encoding,leading to an accuracy as high as 97.2%for MNIST database through detecting the energy weighting coefficients of the encoded OAM modes,as well as a resistance to eavesdropping in point-to-point free-space transmission.Moreover,through extending the target encoded modes into multiplexed OAM states,we realize all-optical dimension reduction for anomaly detection with an accuracy of 85%.Our work provides a deep insight to the mechanism of machine learning with spatial modes basis,which can be further utilized to improve the performances of various machine-vision tasks by constructing the unsupervised learning-based auto-encoder.

Smoothed particle hydrodynamics based numerical study of hydroplaning considering permeability characteristics of runway surface

The presence of water films on a runway surface presents a risk to the landing of aircraft.The tire of the aircraft is separated from the runway due to a hydrodynamic force exerted through the water film,a phenomenon called hydroplaning.Although a lot of numerical investigations into hydroplaning have been conducted,only a few have considered the impact of the runway permeability.Hence,computational problems,such as excessive distortion and computing efficiency decay,may arise with such numerical models when dealing with the thin water film.This paper presents a numerical model comprising of the tire,water film,and the interaction with the runway,applying a mathematical model using the smoothed particle hydrodynamics and finite element(SPH-FE)algorithm.The material properties and geometric features of the tire model were included in the model framework and water film thicknesses from 0.75 mm to 7.5 mm were used in the numerical simulation.Furthermore,this work investigated the impacts of both surface texture and the runway permeability.The interaction between tire rubber and the rough runway was analyzed in terms of frictional force between the two bodies.The SPH-FE model was validated with an empirical equation proposed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA).Then the computational efficiency of the model was compared with the traditional coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian(CEL)algorithm.Based on the SPH-FE model,four types of the runway(Flat,SMA-13,AC-13,and OGFC-13)were discussed.The simulation of the asphalt runway shows that the SMA-13,AC-13,and OGFC-13 do not present a hydroplaning risk when the runway permeability coefficient exceeds 6%.

Al-doped ZnO/WO_(3) heterostructure films prepared by magnetron sputtering for isopropanol sensors

Metal oxide semiconductors(MOSs) are ideal sensing materials for detecting volatile organic compounds due to their low cost, diversity, high stability, and ease of production. However, it remains a grand challenge to develop the MOSs-based gas sensors for sensing isopropanol with desired performance via a simple, effective,and controllable method. Herein, we reported the preparation of the Al-doped Zn O(AZO)/WO_(3) heterostructure films by directly depositing the AZO coating onto the WO_(3) coating using a strategy of magnetron sputtering. The AZO/WO_(3) heterostructure films were constructed by numbers of irregular nanoparticles that were interconnected with each other. The AZO/WO_(3) heterostructure films-based gas sensors exhibited excellent isopropanolsensing performance with high response, promising selectivity, low detection limit, fast response rate, wide detection range, and ideal reproducibility. The promising isopropanol-sensing performance of the AZO/WO_(3) heterostructure films arises mainly from their high uniformity, unique microstructures with high surface roughness,and the construction of the heterostructure between the AZO and WO_(3) coatings. This work provides a versatile approach to prepare the MOSs-based heterostructure films for assembling the gas sensors.

A Radiative-Cooling Hierarchical Aligned Porous Poly(vinylidene fluoride)Film by Freeze-Thaw-Promoted Nonsolvent-Induced Phase Separation

Passive daytime radiative cooling(PDRC)is an innovative and sustainable cooling technology that holds immense potential for addressing the energy crisis.Despite the numerous reports on radiative coolers,the design of a straightforward,efficient,and readily producible system remains a challenge.Herein,we present the development of a hierarchical aligned porous poly(vinylidene fluoride)(HAP-PVDF)film through a freeze-thaw-promoted nonsolvent-induced phase separation strategy.This film features oriented microporous arrays in conjunction with random nanopores,enabling efficient radiative cooling performance under direct sunlight conditions.The incorporation of both micro-and nano-pores in the HAP-PVDF film results in a remarkable solar reflectance of 97%and a sufficiently high infrared thermal emissivity of 96%,facilitating sub-environmental cooling at 18.3℃ on sunny days and 13.1℃ on cloudy days.Additionally,the HAP-PVDF film also exhibits exceptional flexibility and hydrophobicity.Theoretical calculations further confirm a radiative cooling power of 94.8 W·m^(-2)under a solar intensity of 1000W·m^(-2),demonstrating a performance comparable to the majority of reported radiative coolers.

Si-based materials have shown great potential as lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)anodes due to their natural reserves and high theoretical capacity.However,the large volume changes during cycles and poor conductivity of Si lead to rapid capacity decay and poor cycling stability,ultimately limiting their commercial applications.Herein,we have skillfully utilized the microporous MCM-22 zeolite as the unique silicon source to produce porous Si(pSi)sheets by a simple magnesiothermic reduction,followed by a carbon coating and further Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene assembly,obtaining the ternary pSi@NC@TNSs composite.In the design,porous Si sheets provide more active sites and shorten Li-ion transport paths for electrochemical reactions.The N-doped carbon(NC)layer serves as a bonding layer to couple pSi and Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x).The conductive network formed by 2D Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)and medium NC layer effectively enhances the overall charge transport of the electrode material,and helps to stabilize the electrode structure.Therefore,the as-made pSi@NC@TNSs anode delivers an improved lithium storage performance,exhibiting a high reversible capacity of 925 mAh/g at 0.5 A/g after 100 cycles.This present strategy provides an effective way towards high-performance Si-based anodes for LIBs.

Multi-dimensional multiplexing optical secret sharing framework with cascaded liquid crystal holograms

Secret sharing is a promising technology for information encryption by splitting the secret information into different shares.However,the traditional scheme suffers from information leakage in decryption process since the amount of available information channels is limited.Herein,we propose and demonstrate an optical secret sharing framework based on the multi-dimensional multiplexing liquid crystal(LC)holograms.The LC holograms are used as spatially separated shares to carry secret images.The polarization of the incident light and the distance between different shares are served as secret keys,which can significantly improve the information security and capacity.Besides,the decryption condition is also restricted by the applied external voltage due to the variant diffraction efficiency,which further increases the information security.In implementation,an artificial neural network(ANN)model is developed to carefully design the phase distribution of each LC hologram.With the advantage of high security,high capacity and simple configuration,our optical secret sharing framework has great potentials in optical encryption and dynamic holographic display.

Endoscopic features and treatments of gastric cystica profunda

BACKGROUND Gastric cystica profunda(GCP)represents a rare condition characterized by cystic dilation of gastric glands within the mucosal and/or submucosal layers.GCP is often linked to,or may progress into,early gastric cancer(EGC).AIM To provide a comprehensive evaluation of the endoscopic features of GCP while assessing the efficacy of endoscopic treatment,thereby offering guidance for diagnosis and treatment.METHODS This retrospective study involved 104 patients with GCP who underwent endoscopic resection.Alongside demographic and clinical data,regular patient followups were conducted to assess local recurrence.RESULTS Among the 104 patients diagnosed with GCP who underwent endoscopic resection,12.5%had a history of previous gastric procedures.The primary site predominantly affected was the cardia(38.5%,n=40).GCP commonly exhibited intraluminal growth(99%),regular presentation(74.0%),and ulcerative mucosa(61.5%).The leading endoscopic feature was the mucosal lesion type(59.6%,n=62).The average maximum diameter was 20.9±15.3 mm,with mucosal involvement in 60.6%(n=63).Procedures lasted 73.9±57.5 min,achieving complete resection in 91.3%(n=95).Recurrence(4.8%)was managed via either surgical intervention(n=1)or through endoscopic resection(n=4).Final pathology confirmed that 59.6%of GCP cases were associated with EGC.Univariate analysis indicated that elderly males were more susceptible to GCP associated with EGC.Conversely,multivariate analysis identified lesion morphology and endoscopic features as significant risk factors.Survival analysis demonstrated no statistically significant difference in recurrence between GCP with and without EGC(P=0.72).CONCLUSION The findings suggested that endoscopic resection might serve as an effective and minimally invasive treatment for GCP with or without EGC.
