Electrospun material with bio-inspired ordered architectures and patterns is very interesting,yet remains a *** report here that nanofibrous mats with bird＇s nest patterned structures can be directly electrospun from chlorinated polypropylene solutions doped with an ionic *** solution viscosity and the ionic liquid content are two dominant factors to influence the topological morphology of the nanofibrous *** patterned structures can be further modulated by the collection time of electrospinning,the humidity of environment and the design of *** suggest the electrostatic repulsion between the residual charges of the mat surface and the upcoming nanofibers plays a key role in the formation of the bird＇s nest patterns.

Overtopping is one of the main reasons for the breaching of concrete-face sand-gravel dams(CFSGDs).In this study,a refined mathematical model was established based on the characteristics of the overtopping breaching of *** model characteristics were as follows:(1)Based on the Renormailzation Group(RNG)k-εturbulence theory and volume of fluid(VOF)method,the turbulent characteristics of the dam-break flow were simulated,and the erosion surface of the water and soil was tracked;(2)In consideration of the influence of the change in the sediment content on the dam-break flow,the dam material transport equation,which could reflect the characteristics of particle settlement and entrainment motion,was used to simulate the erosion process of the sand gravels;(3)Based on the bending moment balance method,a failure equation of the concrete face slab under dead weight and water load was *** proposed model was verified through a case study on the failure of the Gouhou *** results showed that the proposed model could well simulate the erosion mode of the special vortex flow of the CFSGD scouring the support body of the concrete face slab inward and reflect the mutual coupling relationship between the dam-break flow,sand gravels,and concrete face *** with the measured values,the relative errors of the peak discharge,final breach average width,dam breaching duration,and maximum failure length of the face slab calculated using the proposed model were all less than 12%,thus verifying the rationality of the *** proposed model was demonstrated to perform better and provide more detailed results than three selected parametric models and three simplified mathematical *** study results can aid in establishing the risk level and devising early warning strategies for CFSGDs.

The objective of this study was to investigate the contents and distribution of dissolved organic carbon （DOC） and microbial biomass carbon （MBC） at 0-100 cm soil depth under three irrigation treatments, viz., subsurface, drip and furrow irrigation in the greenhouse soil. The soil samples were collected at different depths （0-100 cm）, and the contents of soil total organic carbon （TOC）, DOC and MBC were analysed. The experiment was conducted for 10 yr, during which period the application of fertilizers and crop management practices were kept identical. The results showed that the contents of TOC, DOC and MBC were significantly affected by different irrigation regimes, decreased with the increase of soil depth. TOC at 0-10 and 80-100 cm soil depths followed the order of furrow irrigation 〉 subsurface irrigation 〉 drip irrigation, whereas at the depth of 10-80 cm followed the order of subsurface irrigation 〉 furrow irrigation 〉 drip irrigation. DOC and MBC contents at 0-100 cm soil depths followed the order of furrow irrigation 〉 drip irrigation 〉 subsurface irrigation, and drip irrigation 〉 furrow irrigation 〉 subsurface irrigation, respectively. The ratios of DOC and MBC to TOC accounted for 4.98-12.87% and 1.48-2.82%, respectively, which were the highest in the drip irrigation treatment, followed were in the furrow irrigation treatment, and the lowest in subsurface irrigation treatment. There were significant positive correlations among the contents of DOC, MBC and TOC in all irrigation treatments. The furrow irrigation facilitated the accumulation of TOC and DOC, while drip irrigation increased the MBC. The content of TOC and the ratios of DOC to TOC were the lowest in subsurface irrigation treatment.

Ethylene/propylene-random-copolymer （PPR）/clay nanocomposites were prepared by two-stage melt blending. Four types of compatibilizers, including an ethylene-octene copolymer grafted maleic anhydride （POE-g-MA） and three maleic-anhydride-grafted polypropylenes （PP-g-MA） with different melt flow indexes （MFI）, were used to improve the dispersion of organic clay in matrix. On the other hand, the effects of organic montmorillonite （OMMT） content on the nanocomposite structure in terms of clay dispersion in PPR matrix, thermal behavior and tensile properties were also studied. The X-ray diffraction （XRD） and transmission electron microscopy （TEM） results show that the organic clay layers are mainly intercalated and partially exfoliated in the nanocomposites. Moreover, a PP-g-MA compatibilizer （compatibilizer B） having high MFI can greatly increase the interlayer spacing of the clay as compared with other compatibilizers. With the introduction of compatibilizer D （POE-g-MA）, most of the clays are dispersed into the POE phase, and the shape of the dispersed OMMT appears elliptic, which differs from the strip of PP-g-MA. Compared with virgin PPR, the Young＇s modulus of the nanocomposite evidently increases when a compatibilizer C （PP-g-MA） with medium MFI is used. For the nanocomposites with compatibilizer B and C, their crystallinities （Xc） increase as compared with that of the virgin PPR. Furthermore, the increase of OMMT loadings presents little effect on the melt temperature （Tc） of the PPR/OMMT nanocomposites, and slight effect on their crystallization temperature （Tc）. Only compatibilizer B can lead to a marked increases in crystallinity and Tc of the nanocomposite when the OMMT content is 2 wt%.

The strongly coupled system composed of atoms,molecules,molecule aggregates,and semiconductor quantum dots embedded within an optical microcavity/nanocavity with high quality factor and/or low modal volume has become an excellent platform to study cavity quantum electrodynamics(CQED),where a prominent quantum effect called Rabi splitting can occur due to strong interaction of cavity-mode single-photon with the two-level atomic *** this paper,we build a new quantum model that can describe the optical response of the strongly-coupled system under the action of an external probing light and the spectral *** take the Hamiltonian for the strongly-coupled photon-atom system as the unperturbed Hamiltonian H_(0)and the interaction Hamiltonian of the probe light upon the coupled-system quantum states as the perturbed Hamiltonian *** theory yields a double Lorentzian lineshape for the permittivity function,which agrees well with experimental observation of Rabi splitting in terms of spectral *** quantum theory will pave the way to construct a complete understanding for the microscopic strongly-coupled system that will become an important element for quantum information processing,nano-optical integrated circuits,and polariton chemistry.

Small stone asphalt mixture（SSAM） was designed by Bailey method and coarse aggregate voids-filling *** optimum asphalt content was determined by Marshal *** texture depth for SSAM with different voidage,and the BPN of SSAM and SMA before after wet track abrasion were *** experimental results indicate that the surface texture depth increases with the decreasing of asphalt aggregate *** SSAM with the optimal asphalt content has a good skid *** of asphalt mixture decreases with the increasing of wearing time,but the extent of reduction is *** reduction rate of BPN for SSAM is smaller than that of SMA,indicating that SSAM has a good skid resistance attenuation ***,the other properties of SSAM are also evaluated,showing that the splitting strength and modulus and SSAM are higher than those of SMA,and the other properties of SSAM,such as high-temperature performance and water stability can also satisfy the technical requirements.

We study the relations between solitons of nonlinear Schro¨dinger equation and eigen-states of linear Schro¨dinger equation with some quantum wells. Many different non-degenerated solitons are re-derived from the eigen-states in the quantum wells. We show that the vector solitons for the coupled system with attractive interactions correspond to the identical eigen-states with the ones of the coupled systems with repulsive interactions. Although their energy eigenvalues seem to be different, they can be reduced to identical ones in the same quantum wells. The non-degenerated solitons for multi-component systems can be used to construct much abundant degenerated solitons in more components coupled ***, we demonstrate that soliton solutions in nonlinear systems can also be used to solve the eigen-problems of quantum wells. As an example, we present the eigenvalue and eigen-state in a complicated quantum well for which the Hamiltonian belongs to the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian having parity–time symmetry. We further present the ground state and the first exited state in an asymmetric quantum double-well from asymmetric solitons. Based on these results, we expect that many nonlinear physical systems can be used to observe the quantum states evolution of quantum wells, such as a water wave tank, nonlinear fiber, Bose–Einstein condensate, and even plasma, although some of them are classical physical systems. These relations provide another way to understand the stability of solitons in nonlinear Schro¨dinger equation described systems, in contrast to the balance between dispersion and nonlinearity.

This paper studies the global exponential stability of competitive neural networks with different time scales and time-varying delays. By using the method of the proper Lyapunov functions and inequality technique, some sufficient conditions are presented for global exponential stability of delay competitive neural networks with different time scales. These conditions obtained have important leading significance in the designs and applications of global exponential stability for competitive neural networks. Finally, an example with its simulation is provided to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed criteria.

This study was designed to evaluate whether the revised 2010 Tumour Node Metastasis （TNM） staging system could lead to a more accurate prediction of the prognosis of renal cell carcinoma （RCC） patients. A total of 1216 patients who had undergone radical nephrectomy or partial nephrectomy for RCC from 2003 to 2011 were enrolled. All of the patients had pathologically confirmed clear cell RCC （ccRCC）. All cases were staged by both the 2002 and 2010 TNM staging systems after pathological review, and survival data were collected. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression models were used to evaluate cancer-specific survival （CSS） and progression-free survival （PFS） after surgery. Continuous variables, such as age and tumour diameter, were calculated as mean values and standard deviations （s.d.） or as median values. Survival was calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method, and the log-rank test assessed differences between groups. Statistically significant differences in CSS and PFS were noted among patients in T3 subgroups using the new 2010 staging system. Therefore, the revised 2010 TNM staging system can lead to a more accurate prediction of the prognosis of ccRCC patients. However, when using the revised 2010 staging system, we found that more than 92% of patients （288/313） with T3 tumours were staged in the T3a subgroup, and their survival data were not significantly different from those of patients with T2b tumours. In addition, T2 subclassification failed to independently predict survival in RCC patients.
