Boosting hydrogen evolution via work-function-accelerated electronic reconfiguration of Mo-based heterojunction

Molybdenum-based catalysts have demonstrated significant potential in the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).However,the limited exposure of active sites and strong hydrogen adsorption result in suboptimal ***,a Mo_(2)N±MoSe_(2) heterojunction is prepared on carbon cloth(MNS/CC)to enhance the *** strong electronic interaction between Mo_(2)N and MoSe_(2),combined with the lower work function of Mo_(2)N,creates an intrinsic electric field at the heterojunction interface,which markedly improves charge transfer ***,the optimized electronic structure of Mo sites further enhances charge transfer and intrinsically catalytic activity in *** a result,MNS/CC requires overpotentials of mere 65 and 210 mV to achieve current densities of 20 mA cm^(−2) and 1 A cm^(−2),respectively,with a Tafel slope of only 96 mV dec−***,MNS/CC maintains stable operation at 1 A cm^(−2) for 240 h without significant *** results offer insights into the design of non-precious metal-based electrocatalysts for industrial hydrogen production.

Osteoporosis is a prevalent skeletal condition characterized by reduced bone mass and strength, leading to increased fragility. Buqi-Tongluo(BQTL) decoction, a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) prescription, has yet to be fully evaluated for its potential in treating bone diseases such as osteoporosis. To investigate the mechanism by which BQTL decoction inhibits osteoclast differentiation in vitro and validate these findings through in vivo *** employed MTS assays to assess the potential proliferative or toxic effects of BQTL on bone marrow macrophages(BMMs) at various concentrations. TRAc P experiments were conducted to examine BQTL's impact on osteoclast differentiation. RT-PCR and Western blot analyses were utilized to evaluate the relative expression levels of osteoclast-specific genes and proteins under BQTL stimulation. Finally, in vivo experiments were performed using an osteoporosis model to further validate the in vitro findings. This study revealed that BQTL suppressed receptor activator of NF-κB ligand(RANKL)-induced osteoclastogenesis and osteoclast resorption activity in vitro in a dose-dependent manner without observable *** inhibitory effects of BQTL on osteoclast formation and function were attributed to the downregulation of NFATc1 and c-fos activity, primarily through attenuation of the MAPK, NF-κB, and Calcineurin signaling pathways. BQTL's inhibitory capacity was further examined in vivo using an ovariectomized(OVX) rat model, demonstrating a strong protective effect against bone loss. BQTL may serve as an effective therapeutic TCM for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis and the alleviation of bone loss induced by estrogen deficiency and related conditions.

Preparation and Properties of HBS Lignin from Masson Pine

In order to establish a new method for making cellulose and lignin from Masson pine, a high boiling solvent(HBS) pulping process with an aqueous solvent of 1,4-butanediol was investigated. Masson pine chips were pulped with a 70%—90% aqueous solution of 1,4-butanediol containing a small amount of a catalyst at 200—220 ℃ for 60—180 min. HBS Masson pine cellulose is suitable for making paper. Water-insoluble HBS lignin was separated from the liquor reaction mixture by water precipitation. The recovered high boiling solvent(RHBS) is able to be recycled as a pulping solvent, indicating that the HBS method is a pulping process of Masson pine which is energy saving, resources saving and pollution free. HBS lignin has a better chemical reactivity and a lower ash content than lignin sulfonate.

Estradiol Induced Estrogen Receptor-mediated Transcription and Expression of Aquaporin5

In this study,we constructed the recombinant plasmid of pGL2/Aquaporin5(AQP5)promoter(pGL2/AQP5p)luciferase reporter,then found estadiol(E2)induced AQP5 promoter activation in a dose-dependent ***,we identified endogenous estrogen receptors(ER),including ERαand ERβ,expressed in human submandibular gland(HSG)cells,which responded to *** demonstrated by the stimulation of E2,AQP5 was upregulated in protein level,meanwhile AQP5 located in cytomembrane was elevated in ***,we revealed the roles of ERαand ERβin AQP5 upregulation by *** ERαand ERβwere overexpressed,the AQP5 transcription level and protein expression were augmented *** when knockdown ER by ERα-shRNA or ERβ-shRNA,AQP5 transcription and expression ***,we detected the effect of E2 in Sjogren's syndrome(SS)mice model in *** mice models were constructed by injecting submandibular gland antigen immune induction combined with estrogen deprivation,which were administoted with saline and *** salivary secretion was decreased,and the AQP5 expression downregulated in the submandibular gland in the SS model *** SS mice were administrated with E2,the salivary secretion was significantly increased,and the AQP5 expression upregulated in the submandibular *** results suggest E2 activates AQP5p transcription and upregulates AQP5 protehi expression,mid E2 promotes salivary secretion in SS model in *** together,we provided the evidence that E2 increased salivary secretion by activating AQP5 transcription and expression.

A New 3D Four-Wing Chaotic System with Cubic Nonlinearity and Its Circuit Implementation

A new 3D four-wing smooth autonomous chaotic system in which each equation contains a cubic product term is presented and physically implemented. Spectral analysis shows that the four-wing chaotic attractor has extremely wide frequency bandwidth compared with that of the Lorenz system and other four-wing chaotic systems, which is important in some relevant engineering applications such as secure communications.

Expression and Characterization of Catalytic Domain of T Cell Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase(ΔTC-PTP)——Immunohistochemical Study of ΔTC-PTP Expression in Non-small Cell Lung Carcinomas

This study objective was to express and characterize the catalytic domain of the human T cell protein tyrosine phosphatase（△TC-PTP） and to study immunohistochemically the expression of △TC-PTP in human non-small cell lung cancers. △TC-PTP gene was PCR amplified with the cDNA of human TC-PTP as template, and cloned into the pT7 expression vector. The recombinant pT7-△TC-PTP was expressed in E. coli Rosetta （ DE3 ） host cells and puri- fied. The enzymatic characteristics of △TC-PTP including enzyme activity and kinetics assay were measured. The antiserum was prepared by immunizing rabbit with the purified recombinant △TC-PTP. Rabbit polyclonal antibody against △TC-PTP was purified by PVDF immobilized antigen affinity chromatography. Immunohistochemical staining of lung cancer tissues was performed with antibody against △TC-PTP protein. △TC-PTP gene was correctly cloned, expressed, and purified. The recombinant △TC-PTP had a highly catalytic activity of PTPase. Squamous cell lung carcinoma showed a significantly higher expression rate of △TC-PTP （76. 92%, 10/13 ） than adenocarcinoma （57.14%, 4/7） and normal lung tissue（20%, 1/5 ）. This study represents the first demonstration that △TC-PTP is highly expressed in human squamous cell lung carcinomas. In addition, this study provides an important basis for further studying the biological function of TC-PTP and its relationship with lung carcinomas and other diseases.

Phase grating in a doubly degenerate four-level system

In this paper, we suggest a doubly degenerate four-level system, in which the transition takes place between the hyperfine energy 52S1/2 F = 1 and 52P3/2 F = 2 in rubidium 87 D2 line, for studying atomic phase grating based on the cross-Kerr and phase conjugation effects. The phase grating with high efficiency can be obtained by tuning phase shift Ф between the coupling and probe field, when the coupling intensity is much stronger than the strength of probe field. Under different coupling intensities, a high diffraction efficiency can be maintained. A new and simple way of implementing phase grating is presented. However, in such an atomic system, two main limitations must be taken into account. First, the independence between steady state probe susceptibility and the coupling intensity, when the population decay rate is larger than the Rabi frequency of the coupling field, cannot result in diffraction grating; second, the sample to be prepared should not be too long.

Retention Mechanism of Phenolic Compounds in Subcritical Water Chromatography

The transfer enthalpies and entropies of hydroxyl and nitryl in different mobile phase systems were compared by van＇t Hoff curve. Results suggest that the presence of acetonitrile and methanol in the mobile phase may decrease the interaction of solute and stationary phase with respect to subcritical water, thereby reducing the contribution of enthalpy to the retention. Retention mechanisms of phenolic compound appear to be more similar in subcritical water and water/methanol systems on the PRP-1 column. Hydrogen bond in subcritical water system plays a very important role in the retention of the phenols.

Euphorbia factor L2 induces apoptosis in A549 cells through the mitochondrial pathway

Euphorbia factor L2, a lathyrane diterpenoid isolated from caper euphorbia seed(the seeds of Euphorbia lathyris L.), has been traditionally applied to treat cancer. This article focuses on the cytotoxic activity of Euphorbia factor L2 against lung carcinoma A549 cells and the mechanism by which apoptosis is induced. We analyzed the cytotoxicity and related mechanism of Euphorbia factor L2 with an MTT assay, an annexin V-FITC/PI test, a colorimetric assay, and immunoblotting. Euphorbia factor L2 showed potent cytotoxicity to A549 cells. Euphorbia factor L2 led to an increase in reactive oxygen species(ROS) generation,a loss of mitochondrial electrochemical potential, release of cytochrome c, activation of caspase-9 and caspase-3, and cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase, suggesting that Euphorbia factor L2 induced apoptosis through a mitochondrial pathway. The cytotoxic activity of Euphorbia factor L2 in A549 cells and the related mechanisms of apoptotic induction provide support for the further investigation of caper euphorbia seeds.
