Large-Scale Electromagnetic Modeling for Multiple Inhomogeneous Domains

We develop a new formulation of the integral equation(IE)method for three-dimensional(3D)electromagnetic(EM)field computation in large-scale models with multiple inhomogeneous *** problem arises in many practical applications including modeling the EM fields within the complex geoelectrical structures in geophysical *** geophysical applications,it is difficult to describe an earth structure using the horizontally layered background conductivity model,which is required for the efficient implementation of the conventional IE *** a result,a large domain of interest with anomalous conductivity distribution needs to be discretized,which complicates the *** new method allows us to consider multiple inhomogeneous domains,where the conductivity distribution is different from that of the background,and to use independent discretizations for different *** reduces dramatically the computational resources required for largescale *** addition,using this method,we can analyze the response of each domain separately without an inappropriate use of the superposition principle for the EM field *** method was carefully tested for the modeling the marine controlled-source electromagnetic(MCSEM)fields for complex geoelectric structures with multiple inhomogeneous domains,such as a seafloor with the rough bathymetry,salt domes,and *** have also used this technique to investigate the return induction effects from regional geoelectrical structures,e.g.,seafloor bathymetry and salt domes,which can distort the EM response from the geophysical exploration target.

Slag freeze linings are increasingly used in industrial pyrometallurgical processes to ensure furnace integrity is maintained in aggressive high temperature *** previous studies of freeze linings have analysed the formation of slag deposits based on heat transfer *** focus of the present research is to determine the impact of chemistry on the microstructures,thickness,stability and heat transfer characteristics of the frozen *** formation of the freeze linings is studied under controlled laboratory conditions using an air-cooled "cold finger" that is immersed into a synthetic slag bath heated in an induction *** temperature profile across the deposit is also been measured.A Cu-Fe-Si-Al-O slag has been selected for study;the primary phase for the slag has been shown to be delafossite and liquidus temperature of the slag has been *** phase assemblages and microstructures of the deposits formed in the cold finger experiments differ significantly from those anticipated from equilibrium cooling of the *** freeze lining deposits have been found in general to consist of several different *** from the cold wall these layers consist of glass;glass with microcrystalline precipitates;multiphase sub-liquidus material containing delafossite and cuprite crystal phase assemblages and high-silica metastable liquid that was separated from the bulk liquid（closed layers）;phase assemblages containing delafossite and cuprite crystals and a high-silica liquid phase that is connected to the bulk liquid（open layers）,and the outer layer containing a complex mixture of liquid and solid *** findings have significant practical implications,and potential for the improved design and operation of industrial metallurgical furnaces.
