Multi-Stage-Based Siamese Neural Network for Seal Image Recognition

Seal authentication is an important task for verifying the authenticity of stamped seals used in various domains to protect legal documents from tampering and *** seal inspection is commonly audited manually to ensure document ***,manual assessment of seal images is tedious and laborintensive due to human errors,inconsistent placement,and completeness of the *** image recognition systems are inadequate enough to identify seal types accurately,necessitating a neural network-based method for seal image ***,neural network-based classification algorithms,such as Residual Networks(ResNet)andVisualGeometryGroup with 16 layers(VGG16)yield suboptimal recognition rates on stamp ***,the fixed training data categories make handling new categories to be a challenging *** paper proposes amulti-stage seal recognition algorithmbased on Siamese network to overcome these ***,the seal image is pre-processed by applying an image rotation correction module based on Histogram of Oriented Gradients(HOG).Secondly,the similarity between input seal image pairs is measured by utilizing a similarity comparison module based on the Siamese ***,we compare the results with the pre-stored standard seal template images in the database to obtain the seal *** evaluate the performance of the proposed method,we further create a new seal image dataset that contains two subsets with 210,000 valid labeled pairs in *** proposed work has a practical significance in industries where automatic seal authentication is essential as in legal,financial,and governmental sectors,where automatic seal recognition can enhance document security and streamline validation ***,the experimental results show that the proposed multi-stage method for seal image recognition outperforms state-of-the-art methods on the two established datasets.

Aluminum foam as buffer layer used in soft rock tunnel with large deformation

The squeezing deformation of surrounding rock is an important factor restricting the safe construction and long-term operation of tunnels when a tunnel passes through soft strata with high ground *** such soft rock geological conditions,the large deformation of the surrounding rock can easily lead to the failure of supporting structures,including shotcrete cracks,spalling,and steel arch *** improve the lining support performance during the large deformation of squeezed surrounding rock,this work selects aluminum foam with densities of 0.25 g/cm3,0.42 g/cm3 and 0.61 g/cm3 as the buffer layer material and carries out uniaxial confined compression *** the evaluation and analysis of energy absorption and the comparison of the yield pressure of aluminum foam with those of other cushioning materials and yield pressure support systems,the strength,deformation and energy absorption of aluminum foam with a density of 0.25 g/cm3 meet the yield pressure performance *** numerical model of the buffer layer yielding support system is then established via the finite element analysis software ABAQUS,and the influence of the buffer layer setting on the lining support is *** with the conventional support scheme,the addition of an aluminum foam buffer layer can reduce the stress and deformation of the primary support and secondary *** maximum and minimum principal stresses of the primary support are reduced by 13%and 15%,*** maximum and minimum principal stresses of the secondary lining are reduced by 15%and 12%,respectively,and the displacement deformation of the secondary lining position is reduced by 15%.In summary,the application of aluminum foam buffer layer can reduce the stress and deformation of the primary support and secondary lining,improve the stress safety of the support and reduce the deformation of the support.

Effect of sea surface temperature during critical early life history stages of Portunus trituberculatus on later yield

The early life stages of marine organisms are pivotal in shaping community dynamics and resource *** this study,we focused on Portunus trituberculatus,a crustacean integral to China's fisheries economy,and examined the effect of sea surface temperature(SST)in its critical early life stages on subsequent *** analyze the correlation between SST in different larval stages and the corresponding yield of ***,we simulated the transport and distribution of larvae from 2014 to 2022 by employing circulation models and Lagrangian particle tracking experiments(LPTE).In the five years(2014,2015,2016,2019,and 2020),particles were transported in a northwestern direction and moved in the direction of low *** distribution of particles in the megalopa stage(M stage)were located in the region of the lower *** 2017,2018,and 2021,the particles were transported in a northeastern direction but they did not move with the gradient of low SST in these years,and the particles in the last M stage were located in the region where the SST was at the peak of the time *** 2022,the distribution was observed for most of the particles in the southwestern part of zhejiang coast,a small part of them were transported in the northwestern direction and a small amount of particles was distributed offshore along the northern area of the zhejiang *** correlations between the SST at each stage of larvae with the corresponding year's yield showed that the yield of *** decreased significantly(R=-0.772,P=0.015)with increasing SST at the M *** study preliminarily explains the correlation between SST at the larval stage and the yield of *** and provides essential information for scientific stock enhancement in the future.

Roles of serum uric acid on the association between arsenic exposure and incident metabolic syndrome in an older Chinese population

Growing evidences showed that heavy metals exposure may be associated with metabolic ***,themechanism underlying arsenic(As)exposure and metabolic syndrome(MetS)risk has not been fully *** we aimed to prospectively investigate the role of serum uric acid(SUA)on the association between blood As exposure and incident MetS.A sample of 1045 older participants in a community in China was *** determined As at baseline and SUA concentration at follow-up in the Yiwu Elderly *** events were defined according to the criteria of the International Diabetes Federation(IDF).Generalized linear model with log-binominal regression model was applied to estimate the association of As with incident *** investigate the role of SUA in the association between As andMetS,amediation analysiswas *** the fully adjusted log-binominal model,per interquartile range increment of As,the risk of MetS increased *** with the lowest quartile of As,the adjusted relative risk(RR)of MetS in the highest quartile was 1.42(95%confidence interval,CI:1.03,2.00).Additionally,blood As was positively associated with SUA,while SUA had significant association with MetS *** mediation analysis demonstrated that the association of As and MetS risk was mediated by SUA,with the proportion of 15.7%.Our study found higher As was remarkably associated with the elevated risk of MetS in the Chinese older adults *** analysis indicated that SUA might be a mediator in the association between As exposure and MetS.

A Novel Composite of Aptamer-Based Ti3C2Tx and Molecularly Imprinted Polymer with Double Recognition Property for Sensitive Electrochemical Detection of Ofloxacin

A novel composite of aptamer-based Ti3C2Txand molecularly imprinted polymer（Apt-Ti3C2Tx-MIP） with double recognition property was prepared for sensitive electrochemical detection of ofloxacin（OFL）. First, Ti3C2Tx@SiO2was synthesized using multi-layer Ti3C2Txand tetraethyl orthosilicate（TEOS） in alkaline conditions. Amino Ti3C2Tx@SiO2was then prepared through Ti3C2Tx@SiO2in the presence of（3-aminopropyl）triethoxysilane. Carboxyl OFL aptamers were then grafted onto amino Ti3C2Tx@SiO2to prepare aptamer-modified Ti3C2Tx@SiO2. A novel composite of Apt-Ti3C2Tx-MIP was prepared with sol–gel method in the presence of Ti3C2Tx@SiO2-Apt-OFL and TEOS. The Apt-Ti3C2Tx-MIP sensor exhibited double recognition for OFL because of aptamer specificity and imprinted binding sites. The electrochemical response of Apt-Ti3C2Tx-MIP sensor for OFL was 2.29 and 2.75 times that of Apt-Ti3C2Tx-NIP and Ti3C2Tx-MIP sensors, respectively,demonstrating the double recognition of Apt-Ti3C2Tx-MIP for OFL. The Apt-Ti3C2Tx-MIP sensor with double recognition displayed a linear peak current to OFL centration from 0.025 to 10 μM with a detection limit of 10 nM. The Apt-Ti3C2Tx-MIP sensor had excellent selectivity for OFL and has been successfully applied to the detection of OFL in a wastewater sample.

Dear Editor,Liver transplantation(LT)is the only curative therapy for patients with endstage liver disease(He et al.,2023;Ling et al.,2022).Post-transplant hypertriglyceridemia(PTHT),which has an incidence of up to 32.8%in 6 months after LT,is one of the major post-transplant complications(Toshima et al.,2020).With the prolongation of the recipient’s survival time,the incidence of PTHT is increasing,becoming an important factor that affects the recipient’s quality of life and survival *** with various metabolic complications,including PTHT,have a 1.78 times higher risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD)development and death than recipients without these complications(Jiménez Pérez et al.,2016).Studies have shown that PTHT,accompanied by other posttransplant metabolic complications and immunosuppressants,are important risk factors for post-transplant ASCVD and mediate 19%–42% of nongraft-related deaths(Davis and Shadab Siddiqui,2017;Jiménez-Pérez et al.,2016).However,early prediction of PTHT remains a major challenge.

The tea plant cultivar‘Zhonghuang 2'(ZH2)possesses albino-induced yellow leaves that contain low levels of catechins but high contents of amino ***,the molecular mechanism underlying the yellow leaf phenotype of ZH2 has not been elucidated *** the current research,the yellow shoots(ZH2-Y)and naturally converted green shoots(ZH2-G)of ZH2 were studied using metabolic and proteomic profiling for a better understanding of the mechanism underlying phenotype *** total,107 differentially changed metabolites(DCMs)were identified from the GC-MS-based metabolomics,and 189 differentially accumulated proteins(DAPs)were identified from the tandem mass tag(TMT)-based quantitative ***,integrated analysis revealed that‘porphyrin and chlorophyll metabolism',‘carbon fixation in photosynthetic organisms',and‘phenylpropanoid biosynthesis'pathways were commonly enriched for DAPs and *** further found that the inhibition of chlorophyll biosynthesis,the deficiency of photosynthetic proteins and the imbalance of the ROS-scavenging system were the crucial reasons responsible for the chlorosis,chloroplast abnormality and photooxidative damage of ZH2 ***,our research combines metabolomics and proteomics approaches to uncover the molecular mechanism leading to the yellow leaf phenotype of tea plants.

Methane(CH_(4))is the second greenhouse gas and has a profound impact on global climate change due to its high global warming potential and *** 2022,the CH_(4)concentration was approximately 1.9 ppm,which was 264%of the pre-industrial *** spatiotemporal distribution of CH_(4)was investigated by a portable CH_(4)detector on an unmanned aerial vehicle and electric bicycles in Shaoxing,a city situated in the Yangtze River Delta,*** vertical distribution revealed CH_(4)concentration generally decreased slowly with ***,the inversion condition and low atmospheric boundary layer height(ABLH)leaded to the enhancement of CH_(4)with *** highest CH_(4)concentration(2.2±0.1 ppm,n=1428)was observed in winter and the lowest(2.0±0.2 ppm,n=1530)in *** the daily variation,CH_(4)concentration peaked at 5:00 local time(LT)and reached its lowest level at 14:00 LT,which was attributed to the daily variation of ABLH,lowest in the early morning and highest in the *** urban areas,CH_(4)concentrations showed higher levels near restaurants,natural gas stations and sewerage well,with a maximum value of 13.1 ppm,which was caused by CH_(4)emission and natural gas leakage from these *** annual CH_(4)emission in Shaoxing were estimated to be approximately 69 ton/(km^(2)·year)by the mass balance *** with other cities in the world,the CH_(4)emission is in higher level which imply some control measures should be conducted to reduce CH_(4)emission in Shaoxing.

Neuropsychological Guided Blind Image Quality Assessment via Noisy Label Optimization

Recent deep neural network(DNN)based blind image quality assessment(BIQA)approaches take mean opinion score(MOS)as ground-truth labels,which would lead to cross-datasets biases and limited generalization ability of the DNN-based BIQA *** work validates the natural instability of MOS through investigating the neuropsychological characteristics inside the human visual system during quality *** combining persistent homology analysis with electroencephalogram(EEG),the physiologically meaningful features of the brain responses to different distortion levels are *** physiological features indicate that although volunteers view exactly the same image content,their EEG features are quite *** on the physiological results,we advocate treating MOS as noisy labels and optimizing the DNN based BIQA model with earlystop *** results on both innerdataset and cross-dataset demonstrate the superiority of our optimization approach in terms of generalization ability.
