The relevance of constipation to the development and progression of colorectal cancer(CRC)is currently a controversial *** have shown that changes in the composition of the gut microbiota,a condition known as ecological imbalance,are correlated with an increasing number of common human diseases,including CRC and *** is the second leading cause of cancerrelated deaths worldwide,and constipation has been receiving widespread attention as a risk factor for *** colonoscopy screening of constipated patients,with regular follow-ups and timely intervention,can help detect early intestinal lesions and reduce the risks of developing colorectal polyps and *** an important regulator of the intestinal microenvironment,the gut microbiota plays a critical role in the onset and progression of *** increasing amount of evidence supports the thought that gut microbial composition and function are key determinants of CRC development and progression,with alterations inducing changes in the expression of host genes,metabolic regulation,and local and systemic immunological ***,constipation greatly affects the composition of the gut microbiota,which in turn influences the susceptibility to intestinal diseases such as ***,the crosstalk between the gut microbiota,constipation,and CRC is still unclear.

Due to their significant value in both economy and ecology,Daphnia had long been employed to investigate in vivo response of cholinesterase(ChE) in anticholinesterase exposures,whereas the type constitution and property of the enzyme remained unclear.A type of ChE was purified from Daphnia magna using a three-step procedure,i.e.,Triton X-100 extraction,ammonium sulfate precipitation,and diethylaminoethyl(DEAE)-Sepharose Fast-Flow *** to sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(SDS-PAGE),molecular mass of the purified ChE was estimated to be 84 *** on substrate studies,the purified enzyme preferred butyrylthiocholine iodide(BTCh) [with maximum velocity(Vmax)/Michaelis constant(Km)=8.428 L/(min·mg protein)] to acetylthiocholine iodide(ATCh) [with V max /Km =5.346 L/(min·mg protein)] as its *** of the purified enzyme was suppressed by high concentrations of either ATCh or *** studies showed that the purified enzyme was more sensitive towards inhibition by tetraisopropylpyrophosphoramide(iso-OMPA) than by 1,5-bis(4-allyldimethylammoniumphenyl) pentan-3-one dibromide(BW284C51).Result of the study suggested that the purified ChE was more like a type of pseudocholinesterase,and it also suggested that Daphnia magna contained multiple types of ChE in their bodies.

Short-term microbiological effects of scaling and root planing and essential-oils mouthwash in Chinese adults

Objective: To assess the short-term effect of scaling and root planing (SRP) and essential-oils mouthwash on the levels of specific bacteria in Chinese adults. Methods: Fifty Chinese adults with chronic periodontitis were randomly assigned to full-mouth SRP or a 7-d essential-oils mouthwash regimen. In addition, 22 periodontally healthy adults used essential-oils mouthwash for 7 d. Clinical examination and plaque/saliva sampling were performed at baseline and on Day 7. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to measure Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa), Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn), Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Prevotella intermedia (Pi), and total bacterial loads in saliva, supra- and sub-gingival plaque samples. Results: The detection frequencies of four tested species remained unchanged after either treatment. However, the bacterial loads of Fn, Pg, and Pi were significantly reduced by SRP; the mean reduction of bacterial counts in saliva ranged from 52.2% to 62.5% (p<0.01), in supragingival plaque from 68.2% to 81.0% (p<0.05), and in subgingival plaque from 67.9% to 93.0% (p<0.01). Total bacterial loads were reduced after SRP in supra- and sub-gingival plaque (p<0.05). Essential-oils mouthwash reduced Fn levels in supragingival plaque by a mean of 53.2%, and reduced total bacterial loads in supra- and sub-gingival plaque (p<0.01). In subgingival plaque from periodontal patients, Pg and Pi reductions were high after SRP compared to essential-oils mouthwash (93.0% vs. 37.7% and 87.0% vs. 21.0%, p<0.05). No significant bacterial reduction was observed in periodontally healthy subjects using essential-oils mouthwash. Conclusions: SRP and essential-oils mouthwash both have an impact on saliva and gingival plaque flora in Chinese periodontitis patients in 7 d, with greater microbiological improvement by SRP.

A strong acidic ion exchange resin(NKC-9)was used as a new adsorbent material for the removal of Co(Ⅱ)from aqueous *** adsorption isotherm follows the Langmuir *** maximum adsorption capacity of the resin for Co(Ⅱ)is evaluated to be 361.0 mg/g by the Langmuir *** is found that 0.5 mol/L HCl solution provides effectiveness of the desorption of Co(Ⅱ)from the *** adsorption rate constants determined at 288,298 and 308 K are 7.12×10-5,8.51×10-5and 9.85×10-5s-1, *** apparent activation energy(Ea)is 12.0 kJ/mol and the adsorption parameters of thermodynamic are-H Θ=16.1 kJ/mol,-SΘ=163.4 J/(mol·K),-G Θ 298 K=-32.6 kJ/mol,*** adsorption of Co(Ⅱ)on the resin is found to be endothermic in *** experiments show that it is possible to remove Co(Ⅱ)ions from aqueous medium dynamically by NKC-9 resin.

In order to simulate the airflow in anhydrous case and the water-air flow in groundwater case, a numerical model of airflow in soil was developed. For the nonlinearity of the governing partial differential equation, the corresponding discretization and linearization methods were given. Due to the mass transfer between air-phase and water-phase, phase states of the model elements were constantly changing. Thus, parameters of the model were divided into primary ones and secondary ones, and the primary variables changing with phase states and the secondary variables can be obtained by their functional relationship with the primary variables. Additionally, the special definite condition of this numerical model was illustrated. Two examples were given to simulate the airflow in soil whether there was groundwater or not, and the effectiveness of the numerical model is verified by comparing the results of simulation with that of experiment.

Adsorption of XSD-296 resin for Cr(Ⅵ)

The adsorption properties of XSD-296 for Cr(Ⅵ) were studied by using chemical analysis and infrared spectrometry. Experimental results show that XSD-296 resin has a good adsorption ability for Cr(Ⅵ) at pH=2.6 in the HAc-NaAc medium. The statically saturated adsorption capacity is 235 mg/g resin. The apparent activation energy of adsorption reaction, Ea, is 16.73 kJ/mol, and the thermodynamic parameters are △H=11.62 kJ/mol, △G298 K=-4.13 kJ/mol. The adsorption behavior of resin for Cr(Ⅵ) is in accordance with Freundlich adsorption isotherm. Cr( Ⅵ ) adsorbed on resin can be eluted by 5%NaCl-5%NaOH or 5%NH4Cl-5%NH3·H2O quantitatively. Infrared spectra and adsorption mechanism show that the functional group of resin coordinates with Cr(Ⅵ) to form co-ordination compound. The coordination molar ratio of the functional group of resin to Cr(Ⅵ) is 1:1.
