Performance-based global reliability assessment of a high-rise frame-core tube structure subjected to multi-dimensional stochastic earthquakes

When evaluating the seismic safety and reliability of complex engineering structures,it is a critical problem to reasonably consider the randomness and multi-dimensional nature of ground *** this end,a proposed modeling strategy of multi-dimensional stochastic earthquakes is addressed in this *** improved seismic model has several merits that enable it to better provide seismic analyses of ***,at first,the ground motion model is compatible with the design response ***,the evolutionary power spectrum involved in the model and the design response spectrum are constructed accordingly with sufficient consideration of the correlation between different seismic ***,the random function-based dimension-reduction representation is applied,by which seismic modeling is established,with three elementary random *** simulations of multi-dimensional stochastic ground motions in a specific design scenario indicate the effectiveness of the proposed modeling ***,the multi-dimensional seismic response and the global reliability of a high-rise frame-core tube structure is discussed in detail to further illustrate the engineering applicability of the proposed *** analytical investigations demonstrate that the suggested stochastic model of multi-dimensional ground motion is available for accurate seismic response analysis and dynamic reliability assessment of complex engineering structures for performance-based seismic resistance design.

The adsorption effect of aquaculture residual feed on heavy metals and its impact on microbial metabolism of feed

Background Intensive and large-scale aquaculture has a high biological density, and a large amount of artificial feed must be provided. As a result, residual feed would be discharged into natural water bodies with water exchange. Due to heavy metal pollution in surface water, residual feed may adsorb heavy metals in the water, affecting the subsequent microbial degradation of feed and the restoration of the water environment. The combined ecological impacts of these two types of pollution urgently need to be *** This study explored the adsorption effect of residual feed on heavy metals and its impact on microbial degradation of residual feed. The results showed that both the insoluble component（mainly fiber, ash, and ether extract, abbreviated as FAe） and soluble component（soluble protein and starch） of the feed had adsorption effects on heavy metals. As the salinity increased, the adsorption capacity of Cu2+and Cd2+decreased, while the adsorption effect on Pb2+was not changed significantly. The adsorption of heavy metals by residual feed could affect the biological degradation of residual feed. The residual feed could adsorb heavy metals and bacterial cells simultaneously, forming FAe-B（bacteria）-S（starch）-Pr（protein）-metal adsorption complex. This adsorption effect could reduce the negative impact of heavy metals on microbial degradation of residual feed. The simulated degradation experiments in actual water bodies also confirmed this. However, the accumulation of heavy metals in residual feed may bring negative effects, such as being consumed by aquatic organisms and entering the food *** The results of this study provide a basis for the collection and centralized treatment of residual feed in aquaculture, as well as the control and remediation of residual feed pollution in natural water bodies.

To study the dynamic response of vertical and batter pile groups in saturated sand,dynamic tests of these pile groups in saturated sand were carried out using the ZJU400 geotechnical centrifuge at Zhejiang *** following results were obtained.(1)As the motion intensity increased,the peak acceleration in soil layers at different depths significantly decreased,indicating that the soil stiffness was significantly reduced.(2)During the motion process,the instantaneous bending moment of the vertical and batter pile groups at different depths changed continuously,which had a strong relationship with the saturated sand *** the process of sand liquefaction,the residual bending moment generated by the batter pile was more obvious than that of the vertical pile.(3)With the liquefaction of the saturated sand,the distribution of the maximum bending moment of the vertical pile group changed,and the bending moment near the pile cap of the vertical and batter pile groups was always large.(4)In certain cases,the horizontal acceleration and dynamic displacement of the vertical pile cap were *** the motion intensity was large,residual displacement of the batter pile cap occurred.

In this study,centrifuge model tests of vertical and batter pile groups in liquefied sand were conducted on a centrifuge shaking *** dynamic p-y curves for these pile groups before and during sand liquefaction were obtained from calculations based on test *** results confirm that liquefaction contributes to a reduction in the energy consumption of pile foundations,with the degradation effect being more pronounced for batter pile *** shallow depths,the difference in the backbone gradients of the p-y curves after liquefaction for vertical and batter pile groups indicates that the lateral stiffness of a batter pile group is greater than that of a vertical pile *** shaking intensity increases,the lateral stiffness of a vertical pile group increases with depth during the late stage of sand ***,the lateral stiffness of a batter pile group during liquefaction does not vary with *** results of this study provide a reference for the seismic design of vertical and batter pile groups in liquefied soil.

Selection and modification of ground motion records using Newmark-Hall spectrum as target spectrum for long-period structures

Input ground motions have significant impacts on the uncertainty of structural responses in time-history *** this study,records were selected and scaled for the evaluation of mean structural responses according to the target *** Newmark-Hall spectrum is closely related to seismic response of short,medium and long-period structures,so it was taken as the target spectrum *** nonlinear time-history analyses of 9-story and 20-story steel moment-resisting frame structures were carried out as *** represent medium and long-period buildings,*** target spectra with risk of 50%,10%and 2%probabilities for exceedance in 50 years were calculated by the average Newmark-Hall spectrum method for three ground motion sets developed in the SAC Steel *** predicted structural mean responses of these Newmark-Hall spectra were compared with those calculated by the average spectral acceleration method for the same record *** is found that both methods have similar accuracy for estimating the structural mean ***,the method proposed herein is more effective in reducing the variability of the structural ***,the proposed method is more advantageous for the time-history analysis of long-period structures or structures with more severe nonlinear responses under strong seismic excitations.

A Noise Reduction Method for Multiple Signals Combining Computed Order Tracking Based on Chirplet Path Pursuit and Distributed Compressed Sensing

With the development of multi-signal monitoring technology,the research on multiple signal analysis and processing has become a hot *** equipment often works under variable working conditions,and the acquired vibration signals are often non-stationary and nonlinear,which are difficult to be processed by traditional analysis *** order to solve the noise reduction problem of multiple signals under variable speed,a COT-DCS method combining the Computed Order Tracking(COT)based on Chirplet Path Pursuit(CPP)and Distributed Compressed Sensing(DCS)is ***,the instantaneous frequency(IF)is extracted by CPP,and the speed is obtained by ***,the speed is used for equal angle sampling of time-domain signals,and angle-domain signals are obtained by COT without a tachometer to eliminate the nonstationarity,and the angledomain signals are compressed and reconstructed by DCS to achieve noise reduction of multiple *** accuracy of the CPP method is verified by simulated,experimental signals and compared with some existing IF extraction *** COT method also shows good signal stabilization ability through simulation and ***,combined with the comparative test of the other two algorithms and four noise reduction effect indicators,the COT-DCS based on the CPP method combines the advantages of the two algorithms and has better noise reduction effect and *** is shown that this method is an effective multi-signal noise reduction method.

Contribution of Surface Defects to the Interface Conductivity of SrTiO_3/LaAlO_3

Based on the first-principles method, the structural stability and the contribution of point defects such as O, Sr or Ti vacancies on two-dimensional electron gas of n- and p-type LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interfaces are investigated. The results show that O vacancies at p-type interfaces have much lower formation energies, and Sr or Ti vacancies at n-type interfaces are more stable than the ones at p-type interfaces under O-rich conditions. The calculated densities of states indicate that O vacancies act as donors and give a significant compensation to hole carriers, resulting in insulating behavior at p-type interfaces. In contrast, Sr or Ti vacancies tend to trap electrons and behave as acceptors. Sr vacancies are the most stable defects at high oxygen partial pressures, and the Sr vacancies rather than Ti vacancies are responsible for the insulator-metal transition of n-type interface. The calculated results can be helpful to understand the tuned electronic properties of LaAlO3 /SrTiO3 heterointerfaces.

High Performance ZrNbAl Alloy with Low Thermal expansion Coefficient

Thermal expansion is a common phenomenon in both metals and alloys, which is important for metallic material applications in modern industry, especially in nuclear and aerospace industries. A lower thermal expansion coefficient may cause lower thermal stress and higher accuracy. A new Zr-based alloy is developed and *** XRD diffraction results demonstrate that only a close-packed hexagonal phase（α or α＇ phase） exists in the microstructure. The thermal expansion and mechanical properties are studied. According to the experimental results, the new Zr-based alloy presents a low thermal expansion coefficient and good mechanical ***,its thermal expansion coefficient is stable through solution treatment.
