Semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations were performed on heterocyclic aromatic amines(HCAs). The relationship between the structures and the carcinogenicities can be rationally elucidated by the models based on the metabolism of HCAs and the Di-region theory. The degree of easiness for the formation of Di-region electrophilic centers determines the carcinogenic activity. There is a good linear relationship between the observed carcinogenicities and the pM3 calculated parameters, with r=0.973 and F=29.8>F ** 0.01 .

A materials design tool for developing pb-free soldering alloys in electronic package was developed based on comprehensive experimental data of phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties data accumulated with the CALpHAD (calculation of phase diagrams) method and contains 10 elements,namely,Ag,Au,Bi,Cu,In,Ni,Sb,Sn,Zn and *** can handle the calculation of phase diagrams in all combinations of these elements and all composition *** addition,based on this tool,the liquidus,solidus,phase fractions and constitutions,equilibrium and non-equilibrium solidification behavior,surface tension and viscosity of liquid,diffusion reactions and microstructural evolution,*** be *** examples of the calculation and application of this tool are *** design tool is expected to be a powerful tool for the development of pb-free solders,as well as for promoting the understanding of the interfacial phenomena between Cu substrate and pb-free solders in electronic packaging technology.

Acetic acid is the main component of the volatile acid in the ***,excessive amounts of acetic acid negatively affect wine *** study aimed to decrease acetic acid content produced by Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation after adding metal ion at different *** surface methodology(rSM)was used to predict the optimum conditions for acetic acid removal.A central composite design was employed for the experiments and results were analyzed to obtain the best possible combination of fermentation temperature(X1:16℃-24℃)and concentrations of potassium(X2:0-12.0 mM),magnesium(X3:0-8.0 mM),and calcium ions(X4:0-0.2 mM)that would generate the minimum acetic acid in lychee wine at an initial acetic acid concentration of 1.5 g/*** data were fitted to a second-order polynomial equation using multiple regression analysis and analyzed using analysis of variance(ANOVA).During fermentation under pre-established conditions,the correlation coefficients r2 and Adj-r2 of the models for acetic acid removal were 0.9487 and 0.9007,*** testing,the optimum conditions for acetic acid removal were determined as follows:fermentation temperature of 20℃;potassium,magnesium,and calcium ion concentrations of 10.1 mM,6.1 mM,and 0.2 mM,*** experimental acetic acid content of lychee wine under optimal conditions was found to be 0.309 g/L,which agreed well with the model-predicted value of 0.314 g/L.

potato late blight, caused by the oomycete pathogen phytophthora infestans, is the most serious disease of potato worldwide. The adoption of varieties with resistance genes, especially broad-spectrum resistance genes, is the most efficient approach to control late blight. Solanum demissum is a well-known wild potato species from which 11 race-specific resistance genes have been identified, however, no broad-spectrum resistance genes like rB have been reported in this species. Here, we report a novel reisistance locus from S. demissum that potentially confer broad-spectrum resistance to late blight. A small segregating population of S. demissum were assessed for resistance to aggressive p. infestans isolates（race 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11）. This coupled with nucleotide binding site（NBS） profiling analyses, led to the identification of three fragments that linked to the potential candidate resistance gene（s）. Cloning and sequence analysis of these fragments suggested that the identified resistance gene locus is located in the region containing r2 resistance gene at chromosome 4. Based on the sequences of the cloned fragments, a co-segregating sequence characterized amplified region（SCAr） marker, rDSp, was developed. The newly identified marker rDSp will be useful for marker assisted breeding and further cloning of this potential resistance gene locus.

In this article, the vanadium pentoxide sols are synthesized by two different routes (melted and quenched in oxygenatmosphere or in air). The structure and properties of the vanadium pentoxide xerogel films are characterized byXrD, ESr, cyclic voltammograms curves and UV-visible transmittance analysis. The results show that the sampleprepared in oxygen has poorer crystallization. lower content of V^(4+) ions and higher Li^+ insertion capacity comparedwith that prepared in air.

Impact of patch size on woody tree species richness and abundance in a tropical montane evergreen forest patches of south India

We examined the effects of forest patch size on woody tree species richness and abundance in tropical montane evergreen forest patches of the Nilgiri region,south India. We sampled woody trees(>1 cm dbh) from 21 forest patches in the upper Nilgiri hills(> 2000 m elevation) and recorded a total of 35,146 individuals of 61 species, 45 genera and 30 families. Species richness and abundance of sapling/shrubs(≥ 1 to reased significantly with increasing patch size, but the species richness and abundance of small, medium and larger trees(≥ 10 to respectively) did not. Overall, forest interior species richness and abundance increased significantly with increasing patch size but edge species richness did not. Species richness and abundance of shade-tolerant and shade-demanding tree species also increased with increasing patch size. The abundance of zoochory dispersed tree species was significantly related to increasing patch size, but those dispersed by autochory did not display any clear relationship between patch size and species richness or *** findings suggest that with increasing forest patch area,tree compositional patterns may be driven by species specific shade-tolerance adaptations and dispersal *** responses in these traits by the plant community within the individual habitat zones of forest edge and interiors likely plays a major role in determining the inherent plant community and thus the subsequent ecological processes of forest patches, including their responses to increasing patch area.

research into ant colony algorithms for solving continuous optimization problems forms one of the most significant and promising areas in swarm computation. Although traditional ant algorithms are designed for combinatorial optimization, they have shown great potential in solving a wide range of optimization problems, including continuous optimization. Aimed at solving continuous problems effectively, this paper develops a novel ant algorithm termed ＂continuous orthogonal ant colony＂（COAC）, whose pheromone deposit mechanisms would enable ants to search for solutions collaboratively and effectively. By using the orthogonal design method, ants in the feasible domain can explore their chosen regions rapidly and efficiently. By implementing an ＂adaptive regional radius＂ method, the proposed algorithm can reduce the probability of being trapped in local optima and therefore enhance the global search capability and accuracy. An elitist strategy is also employed to reserve the most valuable points. The performance of the COAC is compared with two other ant algorithms for continuous optimization -ApI and CACO by testing seventeen functions in the continuous domain. The results demonstrate that the proposed COAC algorithm outperforms the others.
