Upconversion time-stretch infrared spectroscopy

High-speed measurement confronts the extreme speed limit when the signal becomes comparable to the noise *** the context of broadband mid-infrared spectroscopy,state-of-the-art ultrafast Fourier-transform infrared spectrometers,in particular dual-comb spectrometers,have improved the measurement rate up to a few MSpectra s^(-1),which is limited by the signal-to-noise ***-stretch infrared spectroscopy,an emerging ultrafast frequency-swept mid-infrared spectroscopy technique,has shown a record-high rate of 80 MSpectra s^(-1) with an intrinsically higher signal-to-noise ratio than Fourier-transform spectroscopy by more than the square-root of the number of spectral ***,it can measure no more than~30 spectral elements with a low resolution of several ***,we significantly increase the measurable number of spectral elements to more than 1000 by incorporating a nonlinear upconversion *** one-to-one mapping of a broadband spectrum from the mid-infrared to the near-infrared telecommunication region enables low-loss time-stretching with a single-mode optical fiber and low-noise signal detection with a high-bandwidth *** demonstrate high-resolution mid-infrared spectroscopy of gas-phase methane molecules with a high resolution of 0.017 cm^(-1).This unprecedentedly high-speed vibrational spectroscopy technique would satisfy various unmet needs in experimental molecular science,e.g.,measuring ultrafast dynamics of rreversible phenomena,statistically analyzing a large amount of heterogeneous spectral data,or taking broadband hyperspectral images at a high frame rate.

Label-free mid-infrared photothermal live-cell imaging beyond video rate

Advancement in mid-infrared(MIR)technology has led to promising biomedical applications of MIR spectroscopy,such as liquid biopsy or breath *** the contrary,MIR microscopy has been rarely used for live biological samples in an aqueous environment due to the lack of spatial resolution and the large water absorption ***,mid-infrared photothermal(MIP)imaging has proven to be applicable to 2D and 3D single-cell imaging with high spatial resolution inherited from visible ***,the maximum measurement rate has been limited to several frames s-1,limiting its range of ***,we develop a significantly improved wide-field MIP quantitative phase microscope with two orders-of-magnitude higher signal-to-noise ratio than previous MIP imaging techniques and demonstrate live-cell imaging beyond video *** first derive optimal system design by numerically simulating thermal conduction following the photothermal ***,we develop the designed system with a homemade nanosecond MIR optical parametric oscillator and a high full-well-capacity image *** high-speed and high-spatial-resolution MIR microscope has great potential to become a new tool for life science,in particular for live-cell analysis.

Rational design for thermochromic luminescence in amorphous polystyrene films with bis-o-carborane-substituted enhanced conjugated molecule having aggregation-induced luminochromism

We designed the triad molecule,bis-o-carborane-substituted bis(thienylethynyl)benzene,as a filler for realizing thermochromic luminescent behaviors based on conventional polymer films,such as *** the optical measurements,it was found that the triad can show solid-state emission and dual-luminescent properties with variable intensity ratios depending on *** the mechanistic studies including the experiments with the methyl-substituted model compound,it was revealed that dual emission should be originated from the locally excited and twisted intramolecular charge transfer states,and the latter emission band is significantly enhanced in the solid *** prepared amorphous films containing variable concentrations of the triad with the spin-coating method and investigated optical *** was found that intensity ratios were drastically changed by altering the concentration of the *** increasing the proportion of the triad,aggregation occurred,and emission color was apparently varied through the changes in intensity ratios of the dual emission *** on the aggregationinduced luminochromic property of the triad,thermochromic luminescence was finally realized by heating the amorphous *** rational design for obtaining thermochromic luminescent amorphous films is illustrated in this paper.

Tlymphocytes are generated from hematopoietic stem cells in bone marrow,mature in the thymus and migrate to peripheral lymphoid *** thymus is composed of the cortex and medulla,and there are many immature thymocytes in the cortex and more mature thymocytes are present in the *** thymocytes expressing T-cell receptor(TCR)αβchains generated by TCR gene rearrangement selectively differentiate only when they are determined to be useful cells by judgement of the strength of interaction between their TCR and peptide antigens presented on major histocompatibility complex(MHC)molecules of cortical thymic epithelial cells(cTECs).Cells unable to recognize peptide-MHC ligands cannot receive survival signals.

Hyperspectral imaging(HSI)is a powerful tool widely used for various scientific and industrial applications due to its ability to provide rich spatiospectral ***,in exchange for multiplex spectral information,its image acquisition rate is lower than that of conventional imaging,with up to a few *** particular,HSI in the infrared region and using nonlinear optical processes is impractically slow because the three-dimensional(3D)data cube must be scanned in a point-by-point *** this study,we demonstrate a framework to improve the spectral image acquisition rate of HSI by integrating time-domain HSI and compressed ***,we simulated broadband coherent Raman imaging at a record high frame rate of 25 frames per second(fps)with 100 pixels×100 pixels,which is 10×faster than that of previous work,based on an experimentally feasible sampling scheme utilizing 3D Lissajous scanning.
