The ability to form multicellular communities known as biofilms is a widespread adaptive behavior of *** of the Bacillus group of bacteria have been found to form biofilms on plant roots,where they protect against pathogens and promote *** the case of the model bacterium Bacillus subtilis,the genetic pathway controlling biofilm formation and the production of an extracellular matrix is relatively well ***,it is unclear whether other members of this genus utilize similar *** 905,isolated from the roots of the wheat,is a plant-associated strain with function of promoting the growth of the *** determined that it could form biofilms by two seemingly independent *** one mode,the floating biofilms（pellicles） formationof *** appeared to rely on orthologs of many of the genes known to be important for *** biofilm *** the second mode,we reported that *** 905 formed submerged,surface-associated biofilms and in a manner that resembled biofilm formation by the pathogen Staphylococcus *** alternative mode,which did not rely on ***-like genes for pellicle formation,took place under conditions of glucose fermentation and depended on a decrease in the pH of the *** two modes of behavior appeared to be achieved in radically different ways and were likely operating under different environmental *** principal contribution of this investigation is the discovery that a plant-root-associated strain ***（905） could form two kinds of biofilms that are produced by two seemingly unrelated *** toto,our genetic analysis of *** biofilm formation sheds light on how a similar outcome,biofilm formation,can be achieved in different ways and this maybe provide an evidence of that *** can survive ubiquitously in the complicated environment.
