Ultrafast-charging energy storage devices are attractive for powering personal electronics and electric *** ultrafast-charging devices are made of carbonaceous materials such as chemically converted graphene and carbon ***,their relatively low electrical conductivity may restrict their performance at ultrahigh charging ***,we report the fabrication of a porous titanium nitride(TiN)paper as an alternative electrode material for ultrafast-charging *** TiN paper shows an excellent conductivity of 3.67×104 S m−1,which is considerably higher than most carbon-based *** paper-like structure also contains a combination of large pores between interconnected nanobelts and mesopores within the *** unique electrode enables fast charging by simultaneously providing efficient ion diffusion and electron *** supercapacitors(SCs)made of TiN paper enable charging/discharging at an ultrahigh scan rate of 100 V s−1 in a wide voltage window of 1.5 V in Na2SO4 neutral *** has an outstanding response time with a characteristic time constant of 4 ***,the TiN paper-based SCs also show zero capacitance loss after 200,000 cycles,which is much better than the stability performance reported for other metal nitride ***,the device shows great promise in *** filtration method enables good control of the thickness and mass loading of TiN electrodes and devices.

A Novel Structural Measure Separating Non-Coding RNAs from Genomic Backgrounds

RNA secondary structure has become the most exploitable feature for ab initio detection of non-coding RNA（nc RNA） genes from genome sequences. Previous work has used Minimum Free Energy（MFE） based methods developed to identify nc RNAs by measuring sequence fold stability and certainty. However, these methods yielded variable performances across different nc RNA species. Designing novel reliable structural measures will help to develop effective nc RNA gene finding tools. This paper introduces a new RNA structural measure based on a novel RNA secondary structure ensemble constrained by characteristics of native RNA tertiary structures. The new method makes it possible to achieve a performance leap from the previous structure-based methods. Test results on standard nc RNA datasets（benchmarks） demonstrate that this method can effectively separate most nc RNAs families from genome backgrounds.

Synergistic engineering of hole transport materials in perovskite solar cells

In this work,methylammonium lead triiodide(CH3NH3PbI3)perovskite solar cells with efficiencies higher than 18%were achieved using a new nanocomposite hole transport layer(HTL)by doping poly(ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)with a mixed dopant of polyaniline(PANI)and graphene oxide(GO).A synergistic engineering between GO,PANI,and PEDOT:PSS was accomplished to introduce additional energy levels between perovskite and PEDOT:PSS and increase the conductivity of PEDOT:*** probe force microscope results confirmed that adding GO to PEDOT:PSS/PANI composite significantly reduced the average surface *** increased the open circuit voltage(Voc)to 1.05 V for the GO/PEDOT:PSS/PANI nanocomposite perovskite solar cells from the pristine PEDOT:PSS(Voc=0.95 V)and PEDOT:PSS/PANI(Voc=0.99 V).In addition,adding PANI to the HTLs substantially enhanced short circuit current density(Jsc).This was supported by the current sensing-atomic force microscopy(CS-AFM)and conductivity *** PANI doped films showed superior electrical conductivity compared with those without PANI as indicated by CS-AFM *** can fill the gaps between the microflakes of GO and give rise to more compact hole transport material(HTM)*** led to a higher Jsc after doping with PANI,which was consistent with the incident photon-to-current efficiency and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy *** results of X-ray diffraction(XRD)and AFM indicated the GO/PANI doped HTMs significantly improved the crystallinity,topography,and crystal size of the perovskite film grown on their surface.A higher efficiency of 18.12%for p-i-n perovskite solar cells has been obtained by adding the mixed dopant of GO,PANI,and PEDOT:PSS,demonstrating better stability than the pristine PEDOT:PSS cell.

The stereoselective construction of 1,2-cis furanosidic linkage is synthetically challenging.A strategy that applies to all furanose types remains *** this work,a solution is developed based on gold catalysis and the deployment of the directinggroup-on-leaving-group strategy,where a basic oxazole group in the gold-activated leaving group facilitates the stereoinvertive attack by glycosyl *** addition to exhibiting good to excellent 1,2-cis selectivities,these furanosylation reactions are high-yielding and mostly complete in 30 min to 2 h.A broad range of 1,2-cis-furanosides is *** some are uncommon,the ease of access enabled by this approach presents new opportunities to study their applications in medicine and materials research.

Organization and Ultra-Structural Components of Endothelial Surface Glycocalyx Revealed by Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy(STORM)

Introduction The endothelial cells(ECs)lining every blood vessel wall constantly expose to the mechanical forces generated by the blood *** EC responses to these hemodynamic forces play a critical role in the homeostasis of the circulatory *** addition to forming a transport barrier between the blood and vessel wall,vascular ECs play important roles in regulating circulation *** biochemical stimuli,blood flow induced(hemodynamic)mechanical stimuli,such as shear stress,pressure and circumferential stretch,modulate EC morphology and functions by activating mechanosensors,signaling pathways,and gene and protein *** EC responses to the hemodynamic forces(mechano-sensing and transduction)are critical to maintaining normal vascular *** in the mechano-sensing and transduction leads to serious vascular diseases including hypertension,atherosclerosis,aneurysms and thrombosis,to name a few[1].On the luminal surface of our blood vessels,there is a thin layer called endothelial surface glycocalyx(ESG)which consists of proteoglycans,glycosaminoglycans(GAGs)and *** GAGs in the ESG are heparan sulfate(HS),hyaluronic acid(HA),chondroitin sulfate(CS),and sialic acid(SA)[2].In order to play important roles in vascular functions,such as being a mechanosensor and transducer for the endothelial cells(ECs)to sense the blood flow,a molecular sieve to maintain normal microvessel permeability and a barrier between the circulating cells and endothelial cells forming the vessel wall,the ESG should have an organized structure at the molecular *** to the limitations of optical and electron microscopy,the ultra-structure and organization of ESG has not been revealed until recent development of a super high resolution fluorescence optical microscope,STORM(Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy).The diffraction of a single fluorescence molecule can be described as the point spread function(PSF).When the light of wavelengt

Paleoenvironments and geochemistry across a continuous Permian-Triassic boundary section at Bukk Mountains,Hungary

The Bálvány North Permian-Triassic boundary sediments were deposited on a carbonate platform in the tropical part of the western Paleo Tethys *** overall elemental geochemistry of the detailed two-metre-thick section across the boundary that we studied shows that the clastic content of the sediments came from dominantly silica-rich continental sources though with some more silica-poor inputs in the uppermost Permian and lowest Triassic limestones as shown by Ni/Al and Nb/Ta *** inputs bracket,but do not coincide with,the main extinctions and associated C,O and S *** aridity at the Permian-Triassic boundary with increased wind abrasion of suitable Ti-bearing heavy minerals accounts for both the high Ti/Al and Ti/Zr *** geochemical redox proxies suggest mainly oxic depositional conditions,with episodes of anoxia,but with little systematic variation across the Permian-Triassic extinction *** lack of consistent element geochemical changes across the Permian-Triassic boundary occur not only in adjacent shallower-water marine sections,and in other marine sections along the SW Tethys margin such as the Salt Range sections in Pakistan,but also in deeper shelf and oceanic sections,and in non-marine African and European continental *** the absence of significant changes in physical environments,chemical changes in the atmosphere and oceans,reflected in various isotopic changes,drove the Permian-Triassic extinctions.

Three complexes containing 2-pyrazinecarboxylate(pzca–), including [Ni(pzca)2(H2O)2], [Co(pzca)2(H2O)2], and [Cu(pzca)2(H2O)2], have been synthesized and characterized using physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. Furthermore, the structure of each complex was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. All three complexes have an octahedral geometry, where the metal ion chelated by two carboxylate oxygens, two nitrogen atoms belonging to pyrazinic acid molecules, and two oxygen atoms of two water molecules. The catalytic activities of these complexes were also investigated in the green synthesis of 2H-indazolo[2,1-b]phthalazine-triones by the reaction of hydrazine hydrate with an arylaldehyde, phthalic anhydride, and dimedone in acetic acid.

Classification of Soft Tissue Sarcoma Specimens with Raman Spectroscopy as Smart Sensing Technology

Intraoperative confirmation of negative resection margins is an essential component of soft tissue sarcoma *** section examination of samples from the resection bed after excision of sarcomas is the gold standard for intraoperative assessment of margin ***,it takes time to complete histologic examination of these samples,and the technique does not provide real-time diagnosis in the operating room(OR),which delays completion of the *** paper presents a study and development of sensing technology using Raman spectroscopy that could be used for detection and classification of the tumor after resection with negative sarcoma margins in real *** acquired Raman spectra from samples of sarcoma and surrounding benign muscle,fat,and dermis during surgery and developed(i)a quantitative method(QM)and(ii)a machine learning method(MLM)to assess the spectral patterns and determine if they could accurately identify these tissue types when compared to findings in adjacent H&E-stained frozen *** classification accuracy(>85%)was achieved with both methods,indicating that these four types of tissue can be identified using the analytical methodology.A hand-held Raman probe could be employed to further develop the methodology to obtain spectra in the OR to provide real-time in vivo capability for the assessment of sarcoma resection margin status.

Response patterns of simulated corn yield and soil nitrous oxide emission to precipitation change

Background Precipitation plays an important role in crop production and soil greenhouse gas ***,how crop yield and soil nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)emission respond to precipitation change,particularly with different background precipitations(dry,normal,and wet years),has not been well *** this study,we examined the impacts of precipitation changes on corn yield and soil N_(2)O emission using a long-term(1981-2020,40 years)climate dataset as well as seven manipulated precipitation treatments with different background precipitations using the DeNitrification-DeComposition(DNDC)*** Results showed large variations of corn yield and precipitation but small variation of soil N_(2)O emission among 40 *** corn yield and soil N_(2)O emission showed near linear relationships with precipitation based on the long-term precipitation data,but with different response patters of corn yield and soil N_(2)O emission to precipitation *** yield showed a positive linear response to precipitation manipulations in the dry year,but no response to increases in precipitation in the normal year,and a trend of decrease in the wet *** extreme drought treatments reduced corn yield sharply in both normal and wet *** contrast,soil N_(2)O emission mostly responded linearly to precipitation *** in precipitation in the dry year reduced more soil N_(2)O emission than those in the normal and wet years,while increases in precipitation increased more soil N_(2)O emission in the normal and wet years than in the dry *** This study revealed different response patterns of corn yield and soil N_(2)O emission to precipitation and highlights that mitigation strategy for soil N_(2)O emission reduction should consider different background climate conditions.
