Mental Health Status Assessment in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Infertility Patients: A Pilot Study

Polycystic ovary syndrome（PCOS） is a major endocrine disorder afflicting women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS are more likely to suffer from mental health disturbances than healthy women. The ＂infertility＂ suffered by PCOS patients would also lead to mental health disturbances. Symptom Checklist 90（SCL-90） and questionnaire which includes patients＇ socio-economic and demographic data were used to assess the mental health status of PCOS（n=103） and non-PCOS（n=110） infertile patients. Logistic regression analysis and t-tests were used for comparative analysis. The data demonstrated that scores of depression, interpersonal sensitivity, obsessive-compulsive, and hostility symptoms in PCOS infertile patients were significantly higher than those in the non-PCOS infertile patients（P〈0.05）. Logistic regression analysis revealed that acne had negative effect on mental health status（P〈0.05）. Secondary infertile PCOS patients were more easily to suffer from somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, obsessive-compulsive, anxiety, hostility and paranoid ideation symptoms than the primary infertile PCOS patients（P〈0.05）. The results suggested that the PCOS patients especially the secondary infertile PCOS patients had obvious mental health disturbances. The acne might play an importance role in the occurrence of mental health disturbances in PCOS patients. PCOS related symptoms may be risk factors of mental health status in PCOS patients with infertility. More attention should be paid to the PCOS infertile patients, and mental health therapy should be considered if necessary.

CHEK1 gene is known to play an important role in tumor progression by cell cycle ***,the association between CHEK1 and the prognosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma（ESCC） is *** this study,we explored the association between genetic variants in CHEK1 gene and prognosis of ESCC patients treated with radical resection.A total of 131 thoracic ESCC patients who underwent radical resection were included in this retrospective study and genotyped using the Mass Array *** to the univariate Cox hazard analysis,the GT/TT genotype of CHEK1 rs555752 was shown to be strongly related to a decreased overall survival（OS）（HR=2.560,95% CI：1.415–4.631,P=0.002） and disease-free survival（DFS）（HR=2.160,95% CI：1.258–3.710,P=0.005）.Furthermore,according to the multivariate Cox hazard analysis and multiple testing,patients with the GT/TT genotype of CHEK1 rs555752 had a notably decreased OS（HR=2.735,95% CI：1.468–5.096,P=0.002,Pc=0.006） and DFS（HR=2.282,95% CI：1.292–4.023,P=0.004,Pc=0.012）.In conclusion,genetic variants of the CHEK1 gene are significantly related to OS and DFS of ESCC patients,and may therefore be predictors of the prognosis of thoracic ESCC after surgery.

At present, there is no reliable in vitro assembled prepubertal testis-like biomimetic organ culture system designed to assess the functional effects of human gonadotropins on Sertoli and Leydig cells. Spermatogenesis is regulated by endocrine, paracrine, and juxtacrine factors （testicular cross-talk）, mainly orchestrated by gonadotropins such as luteinizing hormone （LH） and follicle-stimulating hormone （FSH） that play a pivotal role by stimulating Leydig and Sertoli cells, respectively. The aim of our study was to set up an in vitro prepubertal porcine bioengineered construct as a new model for experimental studies on reassembled Sertoli and Leydig cells. We have evaluated Sertoli and Leydig cells obtained from 15- to 20-day-old neonatal pig testes in terms of purity and function. Subsequently, purified Sertoli and enriched Leydig cells were subjected to coincubation to obtain an in vitro prepubertal porcine testis-like culture system. We performed enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） for anti-Mullerian hormone （AMH）, inhibin B, and testosterone secretion in the medium, and Real-lime PCR analysis of AMH, inhibin B, FSH-r, aromatase, LHr, and 3βHSD mRNA expression levels. This in vitro testis-like system was highly responsive to the effects of human gonadotropins and testosterone. AMH mRNA expression and secretion declined, and inhibin-B increased, while FSH-receptor expression was downregulated upon FSH/LH exposure/treatment. Finally, the production of testosterone was increased selectively upon LH treatment. In summary, our proposed model could help to better determine the action of human gonadotropins on Sertoli and Leydig cells. The potential usefulness of the system for shedding light into male infertility-related issues is evident.

Background:Resting heart rate(RHR)is considered as a strong predictor of total mortality and hospitalization due to heart failure in hypertension *** fumarate,a second-generation beta-adrenoreceptor blockers(β-blocker)is commonly prescribed drug to manage *** present study was to retrospectively evaluate changes in the average RHR and its association with cardiovascular outcomes in bisoprolol-treated coronary artery disease(CAD)patients from the CAD treated with bisoprolol(BISO-CAD)study who had comorbid ***::We performed ad-hoc analysis for hypertension sub-group of the BISO-CAD study(n=866),which was a phase IV,multination,multi-center,single-arm,observational study carried out from October 2011 to July 2015 across China,South Korea,and *** regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with incidence of composite cardiac clinical outcome(CCCO),the results were presented as adjusted odds ratio(OR)along with 95%confidence interval(CI)and adjusted P ***::A total of 681 patients(mean age:64.77±10.33 years)with hypertension from BISO-CAD study were included in the *** improved CCCOs in CAD patients with comorbid hypertension,with RHR<65 and<70 beats/min compared with RHR≥65 and≥75 beats/min,respectively,in the efficacy analysis(EA)*** addition,it lowered RHR in both intent-to-treat(ITT)and EA groups after 6,12,and 18 months of ***,RHR 70 to 74 beats/min resulted in significantly higher risk of CCCOs EA set of patients(adjusted OR:4.34;95%CI:1.19-15.89;P=0.03).Also,events of hospitalization due to acute coronary syndrome were higher when RHR 69 to 74 beats/min compared to RHR<69 beats/min in ITT ***::Bisoprolol can effectively reduce RHR in Asian CAD patients with comorbid hypertension and hence,improve CCCO without affecting their blood pressure.

The present study established a chronic experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis model in C57BL/6 mice induced by myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein peptides and complete Freund＇s adjuvant. Onset latency was 12 days, with an incidence rate of 100%. Neuropathological characteristics included perivascular inflammatory cell infiltration, demyelination, neuronal degeneration, and axonal damage within cerebral and myelic white matter. Electron microscopy revealed swollen mitochondria, complete organ disappearance, and fused or broken myelin sheath structure, which were accompanied by myelin sheath reconstruction. Moreover, axonal damage was not consistent with demyelination distribution, and severity of axonal damage did not correlate with demyelination. Results suggested that axonal damage in an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis model is not secondary to inflammatory demyelination.
