In this study,to better decide the effect of coal seam dip angle upon the dynamic change of the crossfusion in gas transport and storage areas during the progress of working face in the high gas thick coal seam,a two-dimensional physical simulation experiment regarded as the theoretical research was conducted to properly explore the variation law of overburden *** results demonstrated that the boundary of the gas transport zone was located in the region of fracture *** boundary of the gas storage area was located in the abrupt penetration ***,according to the information theory,the state of the gas transport and storage areas was determined by the changing trend of the fracture rate and fracture *** mathematical representation model of the dip effect in gas transport and storage areas was *** criteria upon which the regional location of the gas transport area and gas storage area can be based were put *** cross-fusion evolution process of the dip effect in gas transport and storage areas was revealed as *** research results could provide guidance for realising directional and accurate gas extraction.

All-season thermal management with zero energy consumption and emissions is more crucial to global decarbonization over traditional energy-intensive cooling/heating ***,the static single thermal management for cooling or heating fails to self-regulate the temperature in dynamic seasonal temperature ***,inspired by the dual-temperature regulation function of the fur color changes on the backs and abdomens of penguins,a smart thermal management composite hydrogel(PNA@H-PM Gel) system was subtly created though an "on-demand" dual-layer structure design *** PNA@H-PM Gel system features synchronous solar and thermal radiation modulation as well as tunable phase transition temperatures to meet the variable seasonal thermal requirements and energy-saving demands via self-adaptive radiative cooling and solar heating ***,this system demonstrates superb modulations of both the solar reflectance(ΔR=0.74) and thermal emissivity(ΔE=0.52) in response to ambient temperature changes,highlighting efficient temperature regulation with average radiative cooling and solar heating effects of 9.6℃ in summer and 6.1℃ in winter,***,compared to standard building baselines,the PNA@H-PM Gel presents a more substantial energy-saving cooling/heating potentials for energy-efficient buildings across various regions and *** novel solution,inspired by penguins in the real world,will offer a fresh approach for producing intelligent,energy-saving thermal management materials,and serve for temperature regulation under dynamic climate conditions and even throughout all seasons.

Valence electron matching law for MXene-based single-atom catalysts

Single-atom catalysts（SACs） have attracted considerable interest in the fields of energy and environmental science due to their adjustable catalytic *** this study,we investigated the matching of valence electron numbers between single atoms and adsorbed intermediates（O,N,C,and H） in MXene-anchored SACs（M-Ti2C/M-Ti2CO2）.The density functional theory results demonstrated that the sum of the valence electron number（VM） of the interface-doped metal and the valence electron number（VA） of the adsorbed intermediates in M-Ti2C followed the 10-valence electron matching ***,based on the 10-valence electron matching law,we deduced that the sum of the valence electron number（k） and VMfor the molecular adsorption intermediate interactions in M-Ti2CO2adhered to the 11-valence electron matching *** repulsion between the interface electrons in M-Ti2CO2and H2O weakened the adsorption of intermediates,Furthermore,we applied the 11-valence electron matching law to guide the design of catalysts for nitrogen reduction reaction,specifically for N2→ NNH conversion,in the *** sure independence screening and sparsifying operator algorithm was used to fit a simple three-dimensional descriptor of the adsorbate（R2up to 0.970） for catalyst *** study introduced a valence electron matching principle between doped metals（single atoms） and adsorbed intermediates（atomic and molecular） for MXene-based catalysts,providing new insights into the design of high-performance SACs.

Molecular characteristics of dissolved organic phosphorus in watershed runoff:Coupled influences of land use and precipitation

Land use and precipitation are two major factors affecting phosphorus(P)pollution of watershed ***,molecular characterization of dissolved organic phosphorus(DOP)in runoff under the joint influences of land use and precipitation remains *** study used Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry(FT-ICR-MS)to study the molecular characteristics of DOP in a typical P-polluted watershed with spatially variable land use and *** results showed that low precipitation and intense human activity,including phosphate mining and associated industries,resulted in the accumulation of aliphatic DOP compounds in the upper reaches,characterized by low aromaticity and low biological *** precipitation and widespread agriculture in the middle and lower reaches resulted in highly unsaturated DOP compounds with high biological stability constituting a higher proportion,compared to in the upper ***,under similar precipitation,more aliphatic DOP compounds characterized by lower aromaticity and higher saturation were enriched in the lower reaches due to more influence from urban runoff relative to the middle *** and/or microbial processes did result in changes in the characteristics of DOP compounds during runoff processes due to the prevalence of low molecular weight and low O/C bioavailable aliphatic DOP molecules in the upper reaches,which were increasingly transformed into refractory compounds from the upper tomiddle *** results of this study can increase the understanding of the joint impacts of land use and precipitation on DOP compounds in watershed runoff.

Automatic and Rapid Throughflow-Based Optimal Design Method for Multi-Stage Axial-Flow Compressors

Throughflow design has the advantages of less time consumption and large optimization space,and thus is the corner stone of advanced design system of multi-stage axial-flow *** majority of relevant studies were limited to the throughflow inverse designs,and quite few works have been till now devoted to the throughflow optimal *** this work,an automatic and rapid throughflow-based optimal design method is proposed for axial-flow compressors in which a throughflow inverse design solver is embedded in optimal genetic algorithm to improve the design efficiency of axial-flow *** types of design parameters in the throughflow inverse design of axial-flow compressors,i.e.,swirl and shroud curve,are simultaneously used to optimize both the blade shape and flow *** proposed method is validated by the redesign optimization of the benchmark axial-flow compressor NASA Stage 35,and the CFD predictions show that the throughflow-based optimization leads to 1.18% efficiency benefit at design *** proposed method is then utilized to the two-dimensional throughflow optimal design of a large-scale 6.5-stage axial-flow industrial *** optimal design results are confirmed by CFD predictions,indicating that the proposed method can effectively improve the design adiabatic efficiency of the compressors by 1.09% within a few minutes on desk-top *** throughflow design implications are also obtained for advanced axial-flow industrial *** work could enhance the capability of throughflow design method and has engineering application value to explore the throughflow optimization space of multi-stage axial-flow compressors.

Impact of warming and nitrogen addition on soil greenhouse gas fluxes:A global perspective

Global warming and nitrogen(N)deposition have a profound impact on greenhouse gas(GHG)fluxes and consequently,they also affect climate ***,the global combined effects of warming and N addition on GHG fluxes remain to be fully *** address this knowledge gap,a globalmeta-analysis of 197 datasets was performed to assess the response of GHG fluxes to warming and N addition and their interactions under various climate and experimental *** results indicate that warming significantly increased CO_(2)emissions,while N addition and the combined warming and N addition treatments had no impact on CO_(2)***,both warming and N addition and their interactions exhibited positive effects on N_(2)O *** the combined warming and N addition treatments,warming was observed to exert a positive main effect on CO_(2)emissions,while N addition had a positive main effect on N_(2)O *** interactive effects of warming and N addition exhibited antagonistic effects on CO_(2),N_(2)O,and CH_(4)emissions,with CH_(4)uptake dominated by additive ***,we identified biome and climate factors as the two *** findings indicate that both warming and N addition substantially impact soil GHG fluxes and highlight the urgent need to investigate the influence of the combination of warming and N addition on terrestrial carbon and N cycling under ongoing global change.

Fighting hypoxia to improve photodynamic therapy-driven immunotherapy: Alleviating, exploiting and disregarding

Innovative anti-cancer therapies that activate the immune system show promise in combating cancers resistant to conventional treatments. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is one such treatment, which not only directly eliminates tumor cells but also functions as an in situ tumor vaccine by enhancing tumor immunogenicity and triggering anti-tumor immune responses through immunogenic cell death (ICD). However, the effectiveness of PDT in enhancing immune responses is influenced by factors, such as photosensitizers and the tumor microenvironment, particularly hypoxia. Current clinically used PDT heavily relies on oxygen (O2) availability and can be limited by tumor hypoxia. Additionally, the tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment induced by hypoxia affects the anti-tumor immunity of tumor-infiltrating effector T cells. Meanwhile, the immunosuppressive myeloid-lineage cells are recruited to the hypoxic tumor tissue and exhibit higher immunosuppressive capabilities under hypoxia conditions. Consequently,numerous strategies have been developed to modulate tumor hypoxia or to create hypoxia-compatible PDT, aiming to reduce the effects of tumor hypoxia on PDT-driven immunotherapy. This review investigates these strategies, including approaches to alleviate, exploit, and disregard tumor hypoxia within the context of PDT/immunotherapy. It also emphasizes the role of advanced nanomedicine and its benefits in these strategies, while outlining current challenges and future prospects in the field.

Co-production of hydrogen, oxygen, and electricity via an integrated solar-driven system with decoupled water electrolyzer and Na-Zn ion battery

Combining water electrolysis and rechargeable battery technologies into a single system holds great promise for the co-production of hydrogen (H_(2)) and ***,the design and development of such systems is still in its ***,an integrated hydrogen-oxygen (O_(2))-electricity co-production system featuring a bipolar membrane-assisted decoupled electrolyzer and a Na-Zn ion battery was established with sodium nickelhexacyanoferrate (NaNiHCF) and Zn^(2+)/Zn as dual redox *** decoupled electrolyzer enables to produce H_(2)and O_(2)in different time and space with almost 100%Faradaic efficiency at 100 mA cm^(-2).Then,the charged NaNiHCF and Zn electrodes after the electrolysis processes formed a Na-Zn ion battery,which can generate electricity with an average cell voltage of 1.75 V at 10 m A cm^(-2).By connecting Si photovoltaics with the modular electrochemical device,a well-matched solar driven system was built to convert the intermittent solar energy into hydrogen and electric energy with a solar to hydrogen-electricity efficiency of 16.7%,demonstrating the flexible storage and conversion of renewables.

Spatio-temporal variations in air/ground freezing–thawing indices along the China–Nepal Highway during 1987–2017

Freezing–thawing indices serve as a comprehensive indicator of both the duration of the freezing/thawing periods and the degree of cold and heat in a given ***-depth analysis of the freezing-thawing indices not only enables the prediction of permafrost distribution and its dynamic changes,but also facilitates the assessment of damage risk to infrastructure under freeze-thaw *** this paper,the air/ground freezing–thawing indices from 1987 to 2017,based on daily temperature observations from meteorological stations along the China–Nepal Highway(CNH),were calculated,and their spatial and temporal variation patterns were *** results showed that:(1)Both mean annual air temperature and mean annual ground surface temperature along the CNH fluctuated upward,with climate tendency rates of 0.43 and 0.52.C·(10a)~(-1),respectively;(2)The number of days with negative air temperature and ground temperature showed fluctuated downward,with change rates of-8.6 and-8.3 d·(10a)~(-1),respectively;(3)The ranges of air freezing index,air thawing index,ground freezing index,and ground thawing index over the years were 157.05-458.88°C·d,2034.20-2560.73°C·d,108.78-396.83°C·d,and 3515.25-4288.67°C·d,*** climate tendency rates were-5.42,10.22,-6.79,and 12.14.C·d·a-1,respectively,showing a general warming trend;(4)The air freezing index,ground freezing index,and ground thawing index changed abruptly in 1999,2000,and 2002,respectively,evincing significant changes after *** research results can provide a basis for the risk assessment of freezing–thawing erosion and the prevention and control of permafrost engineering diseases along the CNH.

Tandemly promoting the sulfur redox kinetics through low concentration mixed organodiselenide and organoditelluride in Ah-level high-energydensity Li-S batteries

Homogeneous redox mediation is efficient in alleviating the shuttling effect and slow redox kinetics of lithium polysulfides in lithium-sulfur ***,their perfect performance is not fulfilled owning to the fact that the multi-step transformation of lithium polysulfides requests the multifunctional active positions for the tandem *** on the redox comediation principles,a promoter of mixing organodiselenide and organoditelluride(mixed-Se/Te)was raised to induce tandem catalysis and boost the effective electrochemical conversion of lithium *** specifically,diphenyl diselenide facilitated the liquid-liquid and solid-liquid transformation between lithium polysulfides and sulfur,while diphenyl ditelluride improved the solid-liquid transformation concerning lithium sulfide ***,even under high sulfur loading of 6.5 mg cm^(−2) and low electrolyte/sulfur ratio of 5.88μL mg^(−1),the 10 mM low concentration mixed-Se/Te promoter offered a high discharge capacity of 6.6 mAh cm^(−2) and high rate performance of 4.1 mAh cm^(−2) at 0.5 ***,the assembled 1.5 Ah-level lithium-sulfur pouch cells provide an energy density of 332 Wh kg^(−1) at 0.05 C and good cycling *** research demonstrates the applicability of propelling continuous sulfur conversion reactions with detached active positions and is anticipated to stimulate deep molecular design of kinetic promoter to targeted energy-associated redox reactions.
