Size distribution of individuals in the population of Asterias amurensis(Echinodermata： Asteroidea) and its reproductive cycle in China

To obtain baseline information on the size distribution of individuals in the population and reproductive features of sea star Asterias amurensis, monthly surveys of the population were carried out from May to December 2010 and March to May 2015 in coastal waters off yantai, China. Spawning period was predicted by gonad and pyloric caeca indices as well as anatomical and histological methods. In the A. amurensis population, both large individuals（〉143 mm） and small ones（〈42 mm） were present in all sampling months. The population size structure was driven by the appearance of big cohorts of individuals less than 55 mm from May to August. The appearance of small individuals in all months suggested a prolonged spawning period at other sites in this bay or sea stars growing slowly because of food shortage. An arm length is a good predictor to wet body weight for ***. The development of gonad was relative slow from May to September but rapidly reached a peak of20.95 in October 2010, and then dropped remarkably, indicating its spawning lasted from October to *** same phenomenon was found from March to May 2015, suggesting another spawning during March to May,which was also verified by the results of histologic analysis on ovary. The gonad index（GI） and pyloric caeca index（PCI） tended to show a negative relationship. Due to the poor food availability, the reproductive characteristics of sea star were most likely affected by the shellfish mariculturein yantai coastal waters.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc metal batteries(RAZMBs) have received extensive attention for large-scale energy storage systems due to the merits of Zn anodes, including moderate volumetric and gravimetric energy density, low redox potential, abundant reserve, low cost and impressive intrinsic safety. However, Zn anodes suffer from a series of adverse reactions(dendrite growth,hydrogen evolution, and surface passivation) resulting in low Coulombic efficiency, large polarization, and unsatisfied cycling performance, which inevitably hinder the wide application of RAZMBs. To address the above issues, cellulose-based materials are widely used for Zn anode protection because of their unique physical and chemical properties and other advantages such as biocompatibility, non-toxicity, degradability and easy extraction. In order to better understand the current progress in cellulosebased materials for the Zn anode protection, we have classified and summarized the relevant literatures. In this review, we summarize and elaborate the causes of poor reversibility for Zn anodes, including dendrite formation, hydrogen evolution, and surface passivation. Subsequently, the effective strategies(anode interfacial engineering, gel electrolyte optimization, and separator modification) of cellulose-based materials toward stabilizing Zn anodes are overviewed. In the end, the existing challenges and prospects of cellulose-based materials in Zn anode protection are summarized to shed light on future work.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD)is the most prevalent chronic liver disease globally,with only one Food and Drug Administration(FDA)-approved drug for its *** MASLD's complex pathophysiology,ther-apies that simultaneously target multiple pathways are highly *** promising approach is dual-modulation of the famesoid X receptor(FXR),which regulates lipid and bile acid ***,FXR agonists alone are insufficient due to their limited anti-inflammatory *** study aimed to dto identify natural products capable of both FXR activation and inflammation inhibition to provide a comprehensive therapeutic approach for *** FXR ligands from the Natural Product Library were predicted via virtual screening using the Protein Preparation Wizard module in Schrodinger(2018)for molecular *** binding and regulation of candidate compounds on FXR were analyzed using surface plasmon resonance(SPR)binding assay,reporter gene ana-lysis,and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).The anti-inflammatory properties of these compounds were eval-uated in AML12 cells treated with tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α).Dual-function compounds with FXR agonism and inflamma-tion inhibition were further identified in cells transfected with Fxr siRNA and treated with TNF-α.The effects of these dual-function compounds on lipid accumulation and inflammation were evaluated in cells treated with palmitic *** revealed that 17 natural products were predicted via computational molecular docking as potential FXR agonists,with 15 exhibiting a strong affinity for FXR recombinant *** isoflavone compounds significantly enhanced FXR reporter luciferase activity and the mRNA expressions of Shp and ***-activity relationship analysis indicated that introducing isopropyl or methoxy groups at the C7 position or a methoxy group at the C6 position could enhance the agonistic efficacy of isofl

A new method is presented to determine parameter values(knot)for data points for curve and surface *** four adjacent data points,a quadratic polynomial curve can be determined uniquely if the four points form a convex *** the four data points do not form a convex polygon,a cubic polynomial curve with one degree of freedom is used to interpolate the four points,so that the interpolant has better shape,approximating the polygon formed by the four data *** degree of freedom is determined by minimizing the cubic coefficient of the cubic polynomial *** advantages of the new method are,firstly,the knots computed have quadratic polynomial precision,i.e.,if the data points are sampled from a quadratic polynomial curve,and the knots are used to construct a quadratic polynomial,it reproduces the original quadratic ***,the new method is affine invariant,which is significant,as most parameterization methods do not have this ***,it computes knots using a local *** show that curves constructed using knots computed by the new method have better interpolation precision than for existing methods.

The emergence of perovskite solar cells(PSCs) has greatly promoted the progress of photovoltaic *** rapid development of PSCs has been driven by the advances in optimizing perovskite films and their adjacent ***,the polycrystalline perovskite layers in most highly efficient PSCs still contain various defects that greatly limit photovoltaic performance and stability of the ***,we introduce a multifunctional additive ethylene diamine tetra methylene phosphonic sodium(EDTMPS) with multiple anchor points into the precursor of perovskite to improve the efficiency and stability of PSCs and provide in-situ protection of lead *** addition of EDTMPS acts as a crystal growth controller and passivation agent for perovskite films,thereby slowing down the crystallization rate of the film and obtaining high-quality perovskite *** study also provides an insight into how the modifier modulate the interfacial energy level arrangement as well as affect transfer of charge carriers and their recombination under photoinduced *** a result,the power conversion efficiency(PCE) of single subcell with a working area of 0.255 cm^(2) increases significantly from 20.03% to 23.37%.Moreover,we obtained a PCE of 19.16% for the 25 cm^(2) ***,the unencapsulated EDTMP-modified PSCs exhibit better operational and thermal stability,as well as in-situ absorption of leaked lead ions.

Neptunea cumingii is an important nutrition-rich economic species in *** of *** suff er from high mortality at low temperatures,which has proved a limiting factor in raising seedlings in artifi cial *** research has shown that *** displays aggregation behavior in response to adverse environmental ***,we determined the eff ects of temperature,food,size of juvenile snails,substratum type,and density of juvenile snails on the aggregation behavior of *** show that,at a low(4°C)or a high(22°C)temperature,juvenile snails adjusted to the inhospitable environment by exhibiting increased aggregation ***,their aggregation behaviors diff ered at these two *** was no signifi cant diff erence in the aggregation rate,but the typical aggregation size was larger at 4°C than at 22°*** 10°C or 16°C,aggregation behavior of juvenile snails *** increased in the satiation treatment at 10°C and 16°***-sized juveniles tended to have higher aggregation rates(92.22%)and a larger typical aggregation *** juveniles were distributed in the bottom of shaded substrata.A larger typical aggregation size or higher density signifi cantly reduced the mortality of juvenile snails at a low temperature(4°C).These results broaden our understanding of gastropod aggregation behavior and can be used to develop and improve commercial breeding strategies and resource recovery for ***.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is prevalent worldwide as a chronic liver disease that not only gives rise to hepatic complications,but leads to other chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and *** aberrant accumulation of lipid droplets(LDs)in hepatocytes is a prominent signature of ***,conventional techniques lack the capability to effectively monitor the dynamic changes in LD levels during NAFLD with living ***,it is imperative to develop LD-specific long-wavelength fluorescent probes with high imaging contrast for the in-situ diagnosis of *** this study,we synthesized a new LD-selective long-wavelength fluorescent probe,denoted as LD-1,based on the twisted intramolecular charge transfer(TICT)*** probe exhibits a large Stokes shift and intensive fluorescence emission in nonpolar and viscous *** self-assembling LD-1 with bovine serum albumin(BSA),a biocompatible,long-wavelength fluorescent probe hybrid,LD-1@BSA,was formed,allowing for LDs to be selectively imaged in ***,LD-1@BSA successfully discriminates NAFLD cells before and after drug treatment,and achieves non-invasive and real-time monitoring of LD accumulation in a mouse model of NAFLD.

Since the mud snail Bullacta exarata was introduced for economic aquaculture in the Huanghe River(Yellow River) Delta in 2001, its quick population growth and expanded distribution make it a key-species in the intertidal zone of this area. This significantly contributed to the economic income of the local people, but its potential ecological impact on the benthic ecosystem remains unknown. A mesocosm study was conducted to test whether its bioturbation activities affect the microphytobenthos(MPBs;i.e., sedimentary microbes and unicellular algae)productivity and the nutrient exchange between the sediment-water interface. Our results show that the mud snail significantly impacted the dissolved oxygen(DO) flux across the sediment-water interface on the condition of normal sediment and light treatment, and significantly increased the ammonium efflux during recovery period in the defaunated sediment and dark treatment. The presence of micro-and meiofauna significantly increased the NH4-N flux in dark treatment. Whereas, in light treatment, these small animals had less effects on the DO and NH4-N flux between sediment-water interface. Our results provide better insight into the effect of the mud snail *** on the ecosystem functioning via benthic fluxes.

[Objectives]To study the biological characteristics and culture conditions of Hericium coralloides(Scop.)Pers.[Methods]The wild *** strain of Changbai Mountain was used as the experimental material to conduct a single factor test on its biological characteristics.[Results]The ideal available carbon source and nitrogen source are glucose and ammonium sulfate,respectively,the pH is 3.5-4.0,and the temperature is 20-22℃.Through the orthogonal experiment of 4 factors and 4 levels,it is found that the degree of influence of the 4 factors on *** is temperature>pH>nitrogen source>carbon source.[Conclusions]The optimum conditions for the mycelium culture of ***:the carbon source is glucose,and the nitrogen source is yeast extract or peptone,and pH is 3.5-4.0,and temperature is 20-22℃.
