The biomimetic construction of a microstructural–mechanical–electrical anisotropic microenvironment adaptive to the native cardiac tissue is essential to repair myocardial infarction(MI).Inspired by the 3D anisotropic characteristic of the natural fish swim bladder(FSB),a novel flexible,anisotropic,and conductive hydrogel was developed for tissue-specific adaptation to the anisotropic structural,conductive,and mechanical features of the native cardiac extracellular *** results revealed that the originally stiff,homogeneous FSB film was tailored to a highly flexible anisotropic hydrogel,enabling its potential as a functional engineered cardiac patch(ECP).In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated the enhanced electrophysiological activity,maturation,elongation,and orientation of cardiomyocytes(CMs),and marked MI repair performance with reduced CM apoptosis and myocardial fibrosis,thereby promoting cell retention,myogenesis,and vascularization,as well as improving electrical *** findings offer a potential strategy for functional ECP and provides a novel strategy to bionically simulate the complex cardiac repair environment.

Hypoxia off the Changjiang River Estuary has been the subject of much attention,yet systematic observations have been lacking,resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding its long-term change and *** revisiting the repeated surveys of dissolved oxygen(DO) and other relevant hydrographic parameters along the section from the Changjiang River Estuary to the Jeju-do in the summer from 1997 to 2014,rather different trends were revealed for the dual low-DO *** nearshore low-DO core,located close to the river mouth and relatively stable,shows that hypoxia has become more severe with the lowest DO descen ding at a rate of -0.07 mg/(L·a) and the thickness of low-DO zone rising at a rate of 0.43 m/*** offshore core,centered around 40-m isobath but moving back and forth between 123.5°-125°E,shows large fluctuations in the minimum DO concentration,with the thickness of low-DO zone falling at a rate of -1.55 m/*** probable factors affecting the minimum DO concentration in the two regions also *** the nearshore region,the decreasing minimum DO is driven by the increase in both stratification and primary productivity,with the enhanced extension of the Changjiang River Diluted Water(CDW) strengthening *** the offshore region,the fluctuating trend of the minimum DO concentration indicates that both DO loss and DO supplement are *** DO loss is primarily attributed to bottom apparent oxygen utilization caused by the organic matter decay and is also relevant to the advection of low-DO water from the nearshore *** DO supplement is primarily due to weakened *** analysis also shows that the minimum DO concentration in the nearshore region was extremely low in 1998,2003,2007 and 2010,related to El Ni?o signal in these summers.

This paper proposes a novel wake-induced vibration(WIV)-based energy harvesting system consisting of two bluff *** inverted C-shaped bluff body is stationary installed at the upstream position to generate an interference wake street,and a cylinder bluff body equipped with a transducer is elastically suspended at the downstream position to harness WIV *** hydrodynamics and energy harvesting(EH)performance of the proposed system are investigated via experimental *** reduced velocity(U*)ranging from 2 to 14(the corresponding Reynolds number ranging from 15100 to 106200)is considered in the present *** is found that the wake generated by the inverted C-shaped bluff body significantly affects the EH *** the opening angle(α)of the C-shaped bluff body increases the vibration amplitude of the downstream cylinder,thereby increasing the harvested *** the spacing(L)between two bluff bodies is two times the cylinder diameter(D),the wake-induced vibration(WIV)mode is observed,while the combined WIV and wake galloping(WG)mode occurs whenαis 150°,and L equals 3D or *** average drag coefficient becomes negative when L is 2D,3D,or *** carefully configuring a C-shaped bluff body,the wake generated by it can bring an augmenting effect on the vibration of the downstream EH *** example,the RMS power output of the proposed EH system reaches a maximum of 0.31 W at U*=8 and L=4D,which is 300%greater than that of its traditional ***,after a number of case stud-ies,it is identified that the proposed EH system can achieve the best performance whenαis 150°and L=2D.

This paper investigates the bit-interleaved coded generalized spatial modulation(BICGSM) with iterative decoding(BICGSM-ID) for multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) visible light communications(VLC). In the BICGSM-ID scheme, the information bits conveyed by the signal-domain(SiD) symbols and the spatial-domain(SpD) light emitting diode(LED)-index patterns are coded by a protograph low-density parity-check(P-LDPC) code. Specifically, we propose a signal-domain symbol expanding and re-allocating(SSER) method for constructing a type of novel generalized spatial modulation(GSM) constellations, referred to as SSERGSM constellations, so as to boost the performance of the BICGSM-ID MIMO-VLC ***, by applying a modified PEXIT(MPEXIT) algorithm, we further design a family of rate-compatible P-LDPC codes, referred to as enhanced accumulate-repeat-accumulate(EARA) codes,which possess both excellent decoding thresholds and linear-minimum-distance-growth property. Both analysis and simulation results illustrate that the proposed SSERGSM constellations and P-LDPC codes can remarkably improve the convergence and decoding performance of MIMO-VLC systems. Therefore, the proposed P-LDPC-coded SSERGSM-mapped BICGSMID configuration is envisioned as a promising transmission solution to satisfy the high-throughput requirement of MIMO-VLC applications.

Massive bodies of low-oxygen bottom waters are found in coastal areas worldwide,which are detrimental to coastal *** summer 2020,the response of coastal hypoxia to extreme weather events,including a catastrophic flooding,an extreme marine heatwave,and Typhoon Bavi,is investigated based on multiple satellite,four cruises,and mooring *** extensive fan-shaped hypoxia zone presents significant northward extension during July-September 2020,and is estimated as large as 13 000 km^(2) with rather low oxygen minimum(0.42 mg/L) during its peak in 28-30 *** severe hypoxia is attributed to the persistent strong stratification,which is indicated by flood-induced larger amount of riverine freshwater input and subsequent marine heatwave off the Changjiang River ***,the Typhoon Bavi has limited effect on the marine heatwave and coastal hypoxia in summer 2020.

Although monkeys and pigs can be infected with SARS-Co V-2, they generally have a long growth cycle and a large size that is difficult to handle in large quantities. However, the readily available rats and mice are not susceptible to SARSCo V-2 because of differences in ACE2(angiotensin-converting enzyme 2), the receptor mediating cell entry of SARSCo V-2 [1]. Thus, the key to establishing a mouse model of COVID-19 is to make the mice express human ACE2 protein, and therefore become SARS-Co V-2 *** reported COVID-19 mouse models using a random insertion transgene approach [2,3] or adenoviral approach to express h ACE2 [4], lack the tissue-specificity of h ACE2 expression and might not replicate COVID-19 precisely, limiting their applications in certain studies.

Organoid models are used to study kidney physiology,such as the assessment of nephrotoxicity and underlying disease *** human pluripotent stem cell-derived kidney organoids are ideal models for compound toxicity studies,but there is a need to accelerate basic and translational research in the ***,we developed an automated continuous imaging setup with the“read-on-ski”law of control to maximize temporal resolution with minimum culture plate ***-accuracy performance was achieved:organoid screening and imaging were performed at a spatial resolution of 1.1µm for the entire multi-well plate under 3 *** used the in-house developed multi-well spinning device and cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity model to evaluate the toxicity in kidney organoids using this *** acquired images were processed via machine learning-based classification and segmentation algorithms,and the toxicity in kidney organoids was determined with 95%*** results obtained by the automated“read-on-ski”imaging device,combined with label-free and non-invasive algorithms for detection,were verified using conventional biological *** advantage of the close-to-in vivo-kidney organoid model,this new development opens the door for further application of scaled-up screening using organoids in basic research and drug discovery.

Effects of surface chemistry on energy levels or optical properties of semiconductor nanocrystals have attracted considerable attention and show great promise in broad ***,it remains challenging to controllably tune the photoluminescence(PL)of quantum dots(QDs)by manipulating surface ***,we investigated effects of the ligand,glutathione(GSH),on PL properties of near-infrared(NIR)Ag_(2)Se QDs by“on-surface”manipulation,that is,precisely manipulating the chelating group without dissociating the ligand from the *** anchoring of the amino group was found to be controlled by solution pH,whereas the binding of the thiol group to the Ag+was pH independent,maintaining the“on-surface”state of *** tuning the pH-controlled binding of amino groups,the energy level or the bandgap of Ag2Se QDs could be increased by up to 140 *** increased bandgap resulted in the blueshift of PL spectrum,which could be reversibly tuned by up to 75 *** pH-mediated tunable PL properties of QDs could also be extended to other nitrogen-containing pH-sensitive groups which could coordinate to the Ag+,not limited to the amino *** work would facilitate the study of nanocrystal surface chemistry and our model that the binding of amino groups affected energy levels of Ag2Se QDs might facilitate new insights into the electronic structure and energy level of other QD-ligand complexes.
