Efficacy and safety of Hemoheal cream in patients with hemorrhoids:a randomized double-blind placebo controlled clinical trial

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Hemoheal cream,an anti-hemorrhoid herbal preparation,(inspired by Persian medicine literatures in a double-blind,randomized placebo-controlled ***:Hemoheal cream consists of aqueous extract of Allium ampeloprasum L.,Commiphora mukul(*** Stocks)Engl and the oil of Sesamum indicum ***-two patients with symptomatic hemorrhoids were randomized to receive hemoheal cream or placebo for 3 *** patients were evaluated before and after the intervention in terms of the severity of anal irritation,bleeding,anal itching,pain,defecation discomfort and swelling sense,and overall subjective improvement(%),as well as any reported adverse ***:The results showed that after 3 weeks of treatment,distribution of anal irritation,bleeding,pain as well as swelling sense were significantly different(P0.05).Furthermore,a significant difference was observed between the overall subjective improvement of Hemoheal cream and placebo groups(P=0.012).One patient in the treatment group complained of rashes on the application ***:The present study showed a positive effect of Hemoheal cream in improving clinical signs and symptoms in patients with hemorrhoids.

Seminal vesicle fluid ameliorates autoimmune response within central nervous system

Previous studies have shown that insemination elicits the expansion of the natural FoxP3＋ regulatory T cell （Treg） pool in female reproductive tissue during mating. Further research demonstrated that this effect was due to seminal vesicle fluid. Indeed, seminal vesicle fluid causes differential recruitment of Tregs into different organs. The recruitment of Tregs into the brain occurs at the lowest rate than the other studied organs. In addition, Tregs are present at a lower frequency and/or have a reduced function in multiple sclerosis. These observations prompted us to investigate whether and how intracerebrospinal fluid （CSF） administration of seminal vesicle fluid affects experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis （EAE）, the most widely used animal model for multiple sclerosis. Our results suggest that seminal vesicle fluid contains all of the ligands required to activate the Treg pool and exhibits an anti-inflammatory effect on organs outside the reproductive system.

Epidemiology of traffic crash mortality in west of Iran in a 9 year period

Purpose： In Iran, the most common cause of injuries and the second leading cause of deaths are traffic accidents, and those problems impose a substantial financial burden on the society. This study aims to determine traffic accident mortality trends and their epidemiologic characteristics in the kermanshah province, west of lran. Methods： In a cross sectional study, road traffic fatality data from 2004 to 2013 were analyzed to determine the epidemiological pattern of traffic accident mortality. Trend assessment was performed to ascertain the decreasing or increasing status. Chi-square and one-way analysis of variance （ANOVA） tests, as well as Poisson regression were used to determine the significance of the data in time. Data were analyzed using Excel and statistical package of SPSS version 19. Results： Out of 5110 people that died in traffic accidents, 4024 （78.7%） were males. The state of accidents indicated that 404 （43.8%） female pedestrians died as a result of car crashes, and 1330 （41.4%） males died because of car collisions. 1554 （31.9%） deaths happened to pedestrians and 1556 （32.1%） to vehicle drivers, and the rest belonged to vehicle passengers. Head trauma was the cause of death for as much as 3400 （69.9%） cases. Fatal crashes in which pedestrians were involved mostly occurred between the hours 13：00 to 15：00, while the time for vehicle drivers was between 16：00 to 18：00. 2882 people （59.1%） died before reaching to health care facilities. Traffic crash mortality trend for pedestrians follows a linear pattern with a gentle downward slope, but the trend shows various swings when it comes to vehicle drivers. Conclusion： The number of traffic crash deaths from 2004 to 2013 indicates a decreasing trend in two groups of road users： vehicle drivers and car occupants. Study of non-revenue water status and enforcement measures to reduce water loss:case study in villages of kermanshah Province of Iran

In this study, the volume and the cash value of water loss, and reduction of water loss as a result of enforcement action during 2011-2013 in the drinking water network of villages in kermanshah Province, tran, have been investigated. Date collected by referring to the different parts of rural water and waste water company of kermanshah Province and checklist were completed. The study showed the volume of produced water and sold water has increased and the water loss percentage has decreased. High cost of water production compared to revenue of sold water and water loss resulted in significant detriments in terms of the water production costs. Water loss level decreased from 33% to 30% as result of measures taken to reduce water loss but, it is still 15% higher than the world average level. Also the reduction in number of water resources and increase in the number and volume of reservoirs indicates a lack of water and a growing need. As result of high water loss, waste of costs in the contrast of water production cost and also because physical water loss accounts for most of the water loss of villages, necessary measures can be effective in reducing loss and have economic justification.

The antioxidant effects of hydroalcoholic extract of Ashrasi date palm on sperm parameters and DNA fragmentation in diabetic rats

Background : Diabetes-induced oxidative stress can have adverse effects on sperm and its DNA integrity. The Ashrasi date palm(ADP) has potent antioxidant *** aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant effect of ADP hydroalcoholic extract on sperm parameters and sperm DNA fragmentation in diabetic *** : Forty male rats were randomly divided into five groups( n = 7): 1, control;2, diabetic;3– 5, diabetic + ADP(30, 90 and 270 mg/kg for groups 3, 4 and 5, respectively). After preparation of ADP extract and its phytochemical screening, it was administered orally to rats, once a day for 5 weeks. At the end of the study, sperm parameters and sperm DNA fragmentation in all groups were *** : At doses of 90 and 270 mg/kg, ADP extract significantly increased the sperm viability compared to diabetic group 2( p = 0.04 and p = 0.03, respectively)and resulted in a significant decrease in immotile sperm( p = 0.002 and p = 0.006,respectively). At a dose of 270 mg/kg, a considerable enhancement of forward sperm motility was observed( p = 0.04) and there was a significant decrease in sperm DNA fragmentation( p = 0.04).Conclusions : The findings of the present study show for the first time that the hydroalcoholic extract of ADP has protective and antioxidant effects against diabetesinduced oxidative stress and can improve sperm parameters and protect sperm DNA integrity.

Falcaria vulgaris extract attenuates diabetes-induced kidney injury in rats

Objective: To assess the effects of Falcaria vulgaris(F. vulgaris) as an antioxidant on damage to kidney of diabetic rats. Methods: Diabetic rats were established via streptozotocin(60 mg/kg). Various doses of F. vulgaris extracts(50, 100 and 150 mg/kg) and streptozotocin + F. vulgaris extracts were administered via intraperitoneal(i.p) injection to 48 rats(n=8 per group) for 28 d. Subsequently, ferric ion reducing antioxidant power(FRAP) of renal tissue, thiobarbituric acid reactive species, blood glucose concentrations, insulin, nitrite oxide, the weight of animals, glomeruli characteristics and kidney function were evaluated. Results: Compared with the control rats, diabetic rats showed significant increase in malondialdehyde, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, blood glucose, nitrite oxide contents in renal tissues, and glomerular diameter. Furthermore, tissue FRAP level, body weight, number of glomeruli and plasma insulin were markedly reduced in diabetic rats when compared with the control group(P < 0.05). However, in all F. vulgaris and F. vulgaris + streptozotocin groups, malondialdehyde level, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, glomerular diameter, nitrite oxide, and glucose levels were decreased significantly; meanwhile, tissue FRAP level, body weight, glomeruli number and insulin serum level were increased, compared to the control diabetic group(P < 0.05). Conclusions: F. vulgaris extract alleviates renal damage in diabetic rats.

Background:Nicotine administration can generate severe oxidative stress and lipid *** jelly,with its antioxidant properties,acts as a scavenger of reactive oxygen *** study describes the apitherapy effects of royal jelly on testicular damage following nicotine ***:Forty-eight male BALB/c mice were divided into 8 groups(n=6):saline,3 different doses of royal jelly(100,150,and 200 mg/kg body weight(BW)per day),nicotine(1.5 mg/kg),and 3 different groups of Nic+Roy(1.5 mg/kg of Nic+100,150,and 200 mg/kg BW per day of royal jelly).Nicotine was administrated intraperitoneally,and royal jelly was prescribed orally for 10 consecutive *** levels of hormones(testosterone,luteinizing hormone,and follicle-stimulating hormone),total antioxidant capacity,nitric oxide(NO)status,malondialdehyde levels,sperm DNA fragmentation,sperm parameters,histopathological changes(H&E staining),immunohistochemistry against apoptotic proteins,and gene expression of Bcl-2,p53,Caspase-3,and Nrf2(real-time PCR)were assessed to evaluate the molecular and histological ***:Hormone levels,sperm parameters,and status of antioxidants were decreased significantly(p<.05)following nicotine ***,royal jelly treatment normalized hormonal and antioxidant characteristics,decreased apoptotic gene expression,increased Nfr2 gene expression,and restored histopathological alteration to the physiological status significantly(p<.05).Conclusion:Royal jelly upregulates the antioxidant status,inhibits the mitochondrialdependent apoptosis pathway,and increases the rate of *** therapeutic agent effectively protected the testis against nicotine-associated damages by antioxidant and anti-apoptotic effects.

Leishmania tropica: The comparison of two frequently-used methods of parasite load assay in vaccinated mice

Role of higher levels of post-challenge antibodies in protective vaccination against Leishmania tropica infection of BALB/c mice

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in human lymphomas

Lymphomas are a diverse group of haematologic malignancies, which occur in infection-fighting cells of the lymphatic system. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are non-coding RNAs, which have recently received significant attention as the main mediators of gene expression. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge on lncRNAs involved in lymphomas, their molecular functions, as well as their potential clinical value. Relevant literature was identified by a PubMed search of English language papers using the following terms: Lymphoma, LncRNA, leukemia, proliferation, apoptosis, and prognosis. LncRNAs are imperative for lymphoma carcinogenesis through affecting apoptosis, cell proliferation, invasion, and response to chemotherapy. The expression level of lncRNAs can affect chemotherapy-induced apoptosis. Taken together, lncRNA dysregulation in lymphoma cells is not only an epiphenomenon but also lncRNA transcription is critically related to the initiation and progression of lymphomas. Aberrant expression of lncRNAs can lead to the transformation of normal lymphocytes into lymphoma cells.
