Zircon U–Pb geochronology and Hf isotope geochemistry of magmatic and metamorphic rocks from the Hida Belt, southwest Japan

Zircon U–Pb and Hf isotope data integrated in this study for magmatic and metamorphic rocks fromthe Hida Belt,southwest Japan,lead to a new understanding of the evolution of the Cordilleran arc system along the ancestral margins of present-day Northeast *** microprobe data for magmatic zircon domains from eight mafic tointermediate orthogneisses in the Tateyama and Tsunogawa areas yielded weighted mean 206Pb/238U ages spanning the entire Permian period(302–254 Ma).Under cathodoluminescence,primary magmatic growth zones in the zircon crystals were observed to be partially or completely replaced by inward-penetrating,irregularly curved featureless or weakly zoned secondary domains that mostly yielded U–Pb ages of 250–240 Ma and relatively high Th/U ratios(>0.2).These secondary domains are considered to have been formed by solid-state recrystallization during thermal overprints associated with intrusions of Hida *** whole-rock geochemical and Sr–Nd isotope data as well as zircon age spectra corroborate that the Hida Belt comprises the Paleozoic–Mesozoic Cordilleran arc system built upon the margin of the North China Craton,together with the YeongnamMassif in southern *** arcmagmatismalong this systemwas commenced in the Carboniferous and culminated in the Permian–Triassic transition *** positiveεHf(t)values(>+12)of late Carboniferous to early Permian detrital zircons in the Hida paragneisses indicate that there was significant input from the depleted asthenospheric mantle and/or its crustal derivatives in the early stage of arc *** the other hand,near-chondriticεHf(t)values(+5 to−2)of magmatic zircons from late Permian Hida orthogneisses suggest a lithospheric mantle *** isotopic differences between magmatic zircon cores and the secondary rims observed in some orthogneiss samples clearly indicate that the zircons were chemically open to fluids or melts during thermal *** highly positive zirconεHf(t)val

Transition waves and nonlinear interactions in the near wake of a circular cylinder

Preliminary analysis of the hanging wall effect and velocity pulse of the 5.12 Wenchuan earthquake

A preliminary study of the PGA attenuation, hanging wall effect and velocity pulse characteristics from the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake ofMS -8.0 is described in this paper. The study was carried out through analyses in the time and frequency domains of main earthquake records. In the PGA attenuation study, records from 316 stations less than 1000 km from the surface rupture of the fault were used as a database and attenuation relationships were developed and compared with some existing relationships that are widely used in China's Mainland, Chinese Taiwan and the US. At the same time, records from 28 stations less than 100 km from the fault were used to study the hanging wall effect and velocity pulse characteristics of this earthquake based on the distribution of PGA, PGV, spectral acceleration, and the velocity pulse peak, and the results are compared with the 1999 Chi-Chi earthquake. In addition, the large PGAs of the UD components observed in this event are also discussed in this paper. From the results of the preliminary study, some conclusions are developed and suggestions for further research are proposed.

Nanocomposite quasi-solid-state electrolyte for high-safety lithium batteries

Rechargeable lithium batteries are attractive power sources for electronic devices and are being aggressively developed for vehicular use. Nevertheless, problems with their safety and reliability must be solved for the large-scale use of lithium batteries in transportation and grid-storage applications. In this study, a unique hybrid solid-state electrolyte composed of an ionic liquid electrolyte (LiTFSI/Pyr14TFSI) and BaTiO3 nanosize ceramic particles was prepared without a polymer. The electrolyte exhibited high thermal stability, a wide electrochemical window, good ionic conductivity of 1.3 × 10−3 S·cm−1 at 30 °C, and a remarkably high lithium-ion transference number of 0.35. The solid-state LiFePO4 cell exhibited the best electrochemical properties among the reported solid-state batteries, along with a reasonable rate capability. Li/LiCoO2 cells prepared using this nanocomposite solid electrolyte exhibited high performance at both room temperature and a high temperature, confirming their potential as lithium batteries with enhanced safety and a wide range of operating temperatures.

Titanium dioxide(TiO2)has garnered attention for its promising photocatalytic activity,energy storage capability,low cost,high chemical stability,and ***,conventional TiO2 has low energy harvesting efficiency and charge separation ability,though the recently developed black TiO2 formed under high temperature or pressure has achieved elevated *** phase-selectively ordered/disordered blue TiO2(BTO),which has visible-light absorption and efficient exciton disassociation,can be formed under normal pressure and temperature(NPT)*** perspective article first discusses TiO2 materials development milestones and insights of the BTO structure and construction ***,current applications of BTO and potential extensions are summarized and suggested,respectively,including hydrogen(H2)production,carbon dioxide(CO2)and nitrogen(N2)reduction,pollutant degradation,microbial disinfection,and energy ***,future research prospects are proposed for BTO to advance energy and environmental sustainability by exploiting different strategies and *** unique NPT-synthesized BTO can offer more societally beneficial applications if its potential is fully explored by the research community.

A density functional theory study of the tunable structure, magnetism and metal-insulator phase transition in VS2 monolayers induced by in-plane biaxial strain

We report a density functional theory study of a phase transition of a VS2 monolayer that can be tuned by the in-plane biaxial strain. This results in both a metal-insulator transition and a low spin-high spin magnetic transition. At low temperature, the semiconducting H-phase is stable and large strain （〉3%） is required to provoke the transition. On the other hand, at room temperature （300 K）, only a small tensile strain of 2% is needed to induce the phase transition from the semiconducting H-phase to the metallic T-phase together with the magnetic transition from high spin to low spin. The phase diagram dependence on both strain and temperature is also discussed in order to provide a better understanding of the phase stability of VS2 monolayers.

Design and implementation of a low-pass filter for microsensor signal processing

A novel low-pass filter that consists of a switched capacitor filter （SCF） and its antialiasing prefilter and smoothing postfilter is proposed for a microsensor signal processing system, which is used in separation point detection on the surface of micro air vehicles. In the system, the filter is not only applied to finish the function of filtering but also used as the front end antialiasing filter of the over sampling analog-to-digital converter. This proposed implementation mostly relies on the design of a high-precision SCF employing a correlated double sampling technique and optimisation switches. Simultaneously, the multiple-loop feedback low pass filter with good high frequency attenuation characteristics is applied as the pre- and postfilter. The design is implemented in the Central Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation （CSMC） 0.5 μm double-poly three-metal （2P3M） 3 chip die area occupies only 0.39 mm2 and dissipatesl.53 mW. 3 V CMOS technology, with satisfactory results, The

Effects of phosphate on the adsorption of glyphosate on three different types of Chinese soils

Glyphosate （GPS） is a non-selective, post-mergence herbicide that is widely used throughout the world. Due to the similar molecular structures of glyphosate and phosphate, adsorption of glyphosate on soil is easily affected by coexisting phosphate, especially when phosphate is applied at a significant rate in farmland. This paper studied the effects of phosphate on the adsorption of glyphosate on three different types of Chinese soils including two variable charge soils and one permanent charge soil. The results indicated that Freundlich equations used to simulate glyphosate adsorption isotherms gave high correlation coefficients（0.990-0.998） with K values of 2751, 2451 and 166 for the zhuanhong soil（ZH soil, Laterite）, red soil（ RS, Udic Ferrisol） and Wushan paddy soil（WS soil, Anthrosol）, respectively. The more the soil iron and aluminum oxides and clay contained, the more glyphosate adsorbed. The presence of phosphate significantly decreased the adsorption of glyphosate to the soils by competing with glyphosate for adsorption sites of soils. Meanwhile, the effects of phosphate on adsorption of glyphosate on the two variable charge soils were more significant than that on the permanent charge soil. When phosphate and glyphosate were added in the soils in different orders, the adsorption quantities of glyphosate on the soils were different, which followed GPS-soil 〉 GPS-P-soil = GPS-Soil-P 〉 P-soil-GPS, meaning a complex interaction occurred among glyphosate, phosphate and the soils.

As a new class of two-dimensional materials, two-dimensional (2D) heterostructures constructed from metal chalcogenides (MCs) have been gaining tremendous attention due to their unprecedented physical and chemical phenomena, mainly originated from their distinct structural features such as composition, architecture type, spatial arrangement of each component, crystal structure, exposed facet and interface, dimensionality in their heterostructures. Towards the realization of practical applications, synthetic approaches need a rational design with a variety of architecture types including laterally-combined, vertically-aligned, and conformally-coated 2D MC heterostructures. Among various synthetic routes, solution-based synthesis is thought of as an alternative to fabrication through high-cost setups since it can control those structural features in a cheap fashion. This review presents recent progress on solution-based synthesis to produce various 2D MC heterostructures with a focus on the synthetic fundamentals in terms of thermodynamic and kinetic aspects related to the growth mechanism. Four different synthetic approaches are reviewed: seeded growth, cation exchange reaction, colloidal atomic layer deposition, direct synthesis including one-step process and modified electrochemical method. We also provide some representative applications of 2D MC heterostructures and their hybrid composites in various fields including optoelectronics, thermoelectrics, catalysis, and battery. Finally, we offer an insight into challenges and future directions in a synthetic improvement of 2D MC heterostructures.

Dependence of sea surface drag coefficient on wind-wave parameters

The relationships between sea surface roughness z 0 and wind-wave parameters are analyzed,and spurious self-correlations are found in all of the parameterization *** surface drag coefficient C D is fitted by four wind-wave parameters that are wave age,wave steepness,windsea Reynolds number R B and R H ,and the analyzed data are divided into laboratory,field and combined data sets *** and analysis of dependence of C D on wind-wave parameters show that R B can fit the C D most *** age and wave steepness are not suitable to fit C D with a narrow range data *** the value of wave age has a board range,R H is not suitable to fit C D *** relationships between C D and R B are integrated into the bulk algorithm COARE to calculate the observational friction velocity,and the results show that the relationship between C D and R B which is fitted with field data set can describe the momentum transfer in the open ocean,under low-moderate wind speed condition,most appropriately.
