Combined bodies of rock-like material and rock are widely encountered in geotechnical engineering,such as tunnels and *** existing theoretical models describing the stress-strain relationship of a combined body lack a binary *** on effective medium theory,this paper presents the governing equation of the“elastic modulus”for combined and single bodies under triaxial compressive tests.A binary effective medium model is then *** on the compressive experiment of concretegranite combined bodies,the feasibility of determining the stress threshold based on crack axial strain is discussed,and the model is *** model is further extended to coal-rock combined bodies of more diverse types,and the variation laws of the compressive mechanical parameters are then *** results show that the fitting accuracy of the model with the experimental curves of the concretegranite combined bodies and various types of coal-rock combined bodies are over 95%.The crack axial strain method can replace the crack volumetric strain method,which clarifies the physical meanings of the model *** variation laws of matrix parameters and crack parameters are discussed in depth and are expected to be more widely used in geotechnical engineering.

Using the first-principles method, we investigate the thermal stability of cation point defects in LaAlO3 bulk and films. The calculated densities of states indicate that cation vacancies and antisites act as acceptors. The formation energies show that cation vacancies are energetically favorable in bulk LaAIO3 under O-rich conditions, while the AILa antisites are stable in reducing atmosphere. However, the same behavior does not appear in the case of LaAlO3 films. For LaO-terminated LaAlOa fihns, La or AI vacancies remain energetically favorable under O-rich and O-deficient conditions. For an AlO2-terminated surface, under O-rich condition the La interstitial atom is repelled from the outmost layer after optimization, which releases more stress leading to the decrease of total energy of the system. An AI interstitial atom has a smaller radius so that it can stay in distorted films and becomes more stable under O-deficient conditions, and the Al interstitial atoms can be another possible carrier source contribution to the conductivity of n-type interface under an ultrahigh vacuum. La and Al antisites have similar formation energy regardless of oxygen pressure. The results would be helpful to understand the defect structures of LaAlOa-related materials.

Metal/intermetallic laminate composites can improve the mechanical properties of intermetallic materials using metal layers. In recent years, titanium aluminide intermetallics have received increasing attention due to their excellent performance properties, such as high melting point, high specific strength and stiffness, and good corrosion resistance. However, the low fracture toughness of Al3Ti alloys at room temperature has greatly limited their application, and fiber or particle reinforcement has not shown a significant toughening effect. Research into the reinforcing effects of the interface and near-interface zone on the fracture behavior of Al3Ti is lacking. Ti/Al3Ti metal/intermetallic laminate composite was synthesized from titanium and aluminum foils using vacuum hot-pressed sintering technology. The microstructure of the prepared material was analyzed by scanning electron microscope and electron backscattered diffraction. Results illustrate that both Ti and Al3Ti were single-phase and there was a noticeable stress concentration on the interface. To obtain indentation and cracks, loads were applied to different locations of the composite by a microhardness tester. The growth path of the cracks was then observed under microscope, showing that crack propagation was prevented by the interface between the Ti and Al3Ti layers, and the cracks that propagated parallel to the laminate shifted to the interface. Fracture toughness of the different areas, including Al3Ti layers, interface, and near-interface zone, were measured by the indentation fracture method. The fracture toughness at and near the interface was 1.7 and 2 times that of the Al3Ti layers, respectively. Results indicate that crack blunting and crack front convolution by the laminate structure was primarily responsible for increased toughness.

The process of domestication has led to dramatic differences in behavioral traits between domestic dogs and gray wolves. Whole-genome research found that a class of putative positively selected genes were related to various aspects of learning and memory, such as long-term potentiation and long-term depression. In this study, we constructed a single-nucleus transcriptomic atlas of the dog hippocampus to illustrate its cell types, cell lineage and molecular features. Using the transcriptomes of 105 057 nuclei from the hippocampus of a Beagle dog, we identified 26 cell clusters and a putative trajectory of oligodendrocyte *** analysis revealed a significant convergence between dog differentially expressed genes(DEGs) and putative positively selected genes(PSGs). Forty putative PSGs were DEGs in glutamatergic neurons, especially in Cluster 14, which is related to the regulation of nervous system development. In summary, this study provides a blueprint to understand the cellular mechanism of dog domestication.

Nutritional diarrhea and subsequent performance degradation in weaned piglets are major challenges for the pig *** acids(BA)can be added to the diet as *** experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of chenodeoxycholic acid(CDCA),a major primary BA,on growth performance,serum metabolic profiles and gut health in weaned piglets.A total of 72 healthy weaned piglets were randomly assigned to the control(CON)and the CDCA groups,which were feed a basal diet and the basal diet supplemented with 200 mg/kg CDCA for 30 d,*** results demonstrated that CDCA significantly increased final BW and average daily gain(ADG),decreased feed-to-gain(F:G)ratio and tended to reduce diarrhea *** addition,CDCA increased the villus height-to-crypt depth(V:C)ratio,elevated goblet cell numbers and the expression of tight junction proteins,suggesting the enhancement of intestinal barrier *** an emulsifier,CDCA increased jejunal lipase activity and the mRNA expression of pancreatic *** supplementation also altered the serum metabolic profiles,including increasing the levels of indole 3-acetic acid,N'-formylkynurenine and theobromine that were beneficial for gut ***,the relative abundance of 2 beneficial gut bacteria,Pre-votella 9 and Prevotellaceae TCG-001,were increased,whereas the relative abundance of a harmful bacteria,Dorea,was decreased in the gut of weaned piglets supplemented with ***,the altered serum metabolic profiles showed a strong correlation with the changed gut *** conclusion,CDCA improved the growth performance of weaned piglets by improving intestinal morphology and barrier function,and enhancing lipid digestion,accompanied by alterations of serum metabolic profiles,and changes in relative abundance of certain gut bacteria.

As an important second messenger, calcium is involved in plant cold stress response, including chilling（〈20 °C） and freezing（〈0 °C）. In this study, exogenous application of calcium chloride（CaCl2） improved both chilling and freezing stress tolerances, while ethylene glycol‐bis‐（b‐aminoethyl） ether‐N,N,N,N‐tetraacetic acid（EGTA） reversed CaCl2 effects in bermudagrass（Cynodon dactylon（L.） Pers.）.Pysiological analyses showed that CaCl2 treatment alleviated the reactive oxygen species（ROS） burst and cell damage triggered by chilling stress, via activating antioxidant enzymes,non‐enzymatic glutathione antioxidant pool, while EGTA treatment had the opposite effects. Additionally, comparative proteomic analysis identified 51 differentially expressed proteins that were enriched in redox, tricarboxylicacid cycle,glycolysis, photosynthesis, oxidative pentose phosphate pathway, and amino acid metabolisms. Consistently, 42 metabolites including amino acids, organic acids, sugars, and sugar alcohols were regulated by CaCl2 treatment under control and cold stress conditions, further confirming the Researchcommon modulation of CaCl2 treatment in carbon metabolites and amino acid metabolism. Taken together, this study reported first evidence of the essential and protective roles of endogenous and exogenous calcium in bermudagrass response to cold stress, partially via activation of the antioxidants and modulation of several differentially expressed proteins and metabolic homeostasis in the process of cold acclimation.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement(TAVR)has been performed for nearly 20years,with reliable safety and efficacy in moderate-to high-risk patients with aortic stenosis or regurgitation,with the advantage of less trauma and better prognosis than traditional open ***,because surgeons have not been able to obtain a full view of the aortic root,3-dimensional printing has been used to reconstruct the aortic root so that they could clearly and intui-tively understand the specific anatomical *** addition,the 3D printed model has been used for the in vitro simulation of the planned procedures to predict the potential complications of TAVR,the goal being to provide guidance to reasonably plan the procedure to achieve the best *** 3D printing can be used to understand the depth,shape,and distribution of the *** 3D printing has achieved remarkable results in TAVR and has a great potential.
