Serving as a way to understand the material composition,structure,and dynamic process of the Earth's interior,deep earth exploration is driven by not only mankind's pursuit of natural mysteries but also mankind's basic need to obtain resources and guarantee economic and social *** first phase of deep earth exploration of china(SinoProbe)was carried out from 2008 to 2016 and tremendous results were *** 2016,the china geological survey launched a Deep geological survey project(also referred to as the project)to continuously explore the deep *** on the national energy resources strategy,the Belt and Road Initiative,and major basic issues of the geological survey,the project was carried out in Songliao Basin(an important energy base in china)and major geological boundaries and tectonic units including Qilian Mountains-Tianshan Mountains and Qinzhou-Hangzhou juncture *** purpose of it is to reveal the process,structure,and forming patterns of the deep ore deposits and petroleum reservoirs,clarify the evolutionary pattern and controlling factors of Mesozoic environmental climate,and discover deep fine structures of key orogens,basins,and mountains by comprehensive geophysical exploration and scientific *** achievements have been obtained after more than three years of efforts,including a cumulative 1552 km of deep seismic reflection profiles and magnetotelluric profiles,an ultra-deep continental scientific crilling well,a scientific drilling pilot hole,and a magnetotelluric array and a portable broadband seismic array,both of which cover South ***,significant progress has been made in ultra-deep drilling technology,deep oil and gas discovery in Songliao Basin,and basic geological issues of Qilian Orogen and Qinzhou-Hangzhou juncture belt in South china,greatly accelerating the deep earth exploration in china and further consolidating china's position as a power in deep earth exploration.

The Wutonggou iron deposit is located in the well-known iron metallogenic belt in the eastern Tianshan,NW china,and has been regarded as a sedimentary iron *** hydrothermal overprinting could play indispensable roles in the formation of high-grade iron ores in sedimentary iron deposits,previous studies mainly focused on sedimentary-related iron mineralization,while the nature and contribution of hydrothermal fluids are poorly ***,an integrated study of ore geology,H-O-C isotopes and^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar dating,is conducted on the Wutonggou deposit,in order to reveal the features,source,and timing of hydrothermal *** studied deposit includes two mining sections namely the Jianshan and ***δ^(18)O values of early magnetite from the Jianshan section range from+3.0‰to+5.8‰that nearly consistent with classic magmatic magnetite,while increase to 6.3‰-8.0‰in the late *** from the two sections shows comparable H-O isotopic compositions and identical fractionation trends,and is plotted in or periphery to the primary magmatic water *** from the two sections are broadly similar in carbon and oxygen isotopic compositions,and siderite from the Wutonggou section is plotted in the same ***,comparable stable isotopic compositions and evolution trends indicate similar magmatic fluids contributed hydrothermal iron mineralization in the two mining ***,water-rock interactions of varying degrees generated distinct mineralization styles in the Jianshan and Wutonggou sections,and caused the isotopic fractionation in late *** extracted from a hydrothermal siderite ore yielded a^(40)Ar-^(39)Ar plateau age of 299.5±2.0 Ma,indicates the timing of hydrothermal iron mineralization is corresponding to the emplacement of vicinity *** together,the hydrothermal mineralization in the Wutonggou iron deposit was the product of remobilization and upgrading of early sedimentary iron ores,a

Model Test Study on Response of Weathered Rock Slope to Rainfall Infiltration under Different Conditions

Weathered rock(especially granite)slopes are prone to failure under the action of rainfall,making it necessary to study the response of weathered rock slope to rainfall infiltration for landslide *** this study,a series of model tests of weathered rock slope under different conditions were *** matric suction,volumetric water content,earth pressure and deformation of slope were monitored in real time during *** response of the slope to rainfall infiltration,failure process and failure mode of slope under different conditions were analyzed,and the early warning criterion for the failure of weathered rock slope caused by rainfall was *** results show that the slope deformation evolution process under rainfall condition was closely related to the dissipation of matric *** the distribution of the matrix suction(or water content)of slope met the condition that the resistance to sliding of the slip-mass was overcome,the displacement increased sharply and landslide *** factors including rainfall process,lithologic condition and excavation condition significantly affect the response of weathered rock slope to *** can be found from the test results under different conditions that compared with intermittent rainfall condition,the rainfall intensity and infiltration depth were smaller when the slope entering accelerated deformation stage under the condition of incremental *** accumulated rainfall when weathered clastic landslide occurring was greater than that of weathered granite,which results in greater disaster *** excavation angle and moisture distribution of a slope were the main factors affecting the stability of a *** addition,the evolution processes and critical displacement velocities of slopes were studied by combining the deformation curves and matrix suction curves,which can be used as reference for early warning of rainfall-induced weathered rock landslide.

A calamitous landslide happened at 22:00 on September 1,2014 in the Yunyang area of Chongqing City,southwest china,enforcing the evacuation of 508 people and damaging 23 *** landslide volume comprised 1.44 million m^(3) of material in the source area and 0.4 million m^(3) of shoveled *** debris flow runout extended 400 m vertically and 1600 m *** Xianchi reservoir landslide event has been investigated as follows:(1)samples collected from the main body of landslide were carried out using GCTS ring shear apparatus;(2)the parameters of shear and pore water pressure have been measured;and(3)the post-failure characteristics of landslide have been analyzed using the numerical simulation *** excess pore-water pressure and erosion in the motion path are considered to be the key reasons for the long-runout motion and the scale-up of landslides,such as that at Xianchi,were caused by the heavy *** aim of this paper is to acquired numerical parameters and the basic resistance model,which is beneficial to improve simulation accuracy for hazard assessment for similar to potentially dangerous hillslopes in china and elsewhere.

geological characteristics of unconventional tight oil reservoir (10^(9) t): A case study of Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation, northern Songliao Basin, NE china

The Daqing exploration area in the northern Songliao Basin has great potential for unconventional oil and gas resources,among which the total resources of tight oil alone exceed 109 t and is regarded as an important resource base of Daqing *** years of exploration in the Qijia area,Songliao Basin,NE china,tight oil has been found in the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou *** work out tight oil’s geological characteristics,taking tight oil in Gaotaizi oil layers of the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation in northern Songliao Basin as an example,this paper systematically analyzed the geological characteristics of unconventional tight oil in Gao3 and Gao4 layers of the Qijia area,based on the data of the geological survey,well drilling journey,well logging,and *** is that three sets of hydrocarbon source rocks(K2qn1,K2qn2+3,and K2n1)develop in the examined area,and exhibit excellent type I and II kerogens,high organic matter abundance,and moderate *** reservoir is generally composed of thin-bedded mudstone,siltstone,and sandstone,and presents poor porosity(average 8.5 vol.%)and air permeability(average 4 mD).The main reservoir space primarily includes intergranular pores,secondary soluble pores,and intergranular soluble *** types of orifice throats were identified,namely fine throat,extra-fine throat,and micro-fine *** siltstone is generally oil-bearing,the reservoirs with slime and calcium become worse oil-bearing,and the mudstone has no obvious oil-bearing *** brittleness indices of the sandstone in the tight oil reservoir range from 40%to 60%,and those of the mudstone range from 40%to 45%,indicating a better brittleness of the tight oil *** on the study of typical core hole data,this paper gives a comprehensive evaluation of the properties of the tight oil and establishes a tight oil single well composite bar chart as well as the initial evaluation system with the core of properties in the tigh

In situ zircon U-Pb geochronological and Lu-Hf isotope studies of detrital zircons from Late Mesoproterozoic to Early Neoproterozoic sedimentary units on the southwestern margin of the Yangtze Block have important implications for the tectonic evolution of the Yangtze *** Huili Group contains zircons whose ages are mainly Late Archean to Mesoproterozoic(2650-2450,2100-1800,and 1350-1150 Ma).The Dengxiangying Group has one major age population of 1900-1600 Ma,and two subordinate age populations of 1350-1100 and 2300-2000 *** Group sedimentary rocks have a zircon age population mainly in the range of 970-850 Ma,contemporaneous with the ages of widespread arc-related magmatism in the western Yangtze *** these results with previous work,the Huili and Dengxiangying groups were most likely deposited during ca.1160 to 1000 Ma in an intra-continental rift basin setting,while the Yanbian Group accumulated during>920 to 782 Ma in a back-arc basin setting at the southwestern margin of the Yangtze *** addition,all these results further suggest a tectonic transition from a continental rift basin to a convergent environment at the southwestern margin of the Yangtze Block at 1000-970 Ma.

Mars exploration——In situ K-Ar dating of jarosite

To accurately determine the chronological framework of climatic variations recorded by various Martian terrains, the absolute ages of Martian events and cratering rate need to be constrained by either in situ dating or returned samples. In situ K-Ar dating is currently a more plausible dating technique as compared with sample return. Jarosite(KFe_(3)[SO_(4)]_(2)[OH]_(6)) is the only confirmed K sulfate mineral that is widely present on Mars, as indicated by in situ detection, orbital remote sensing, and meteorite studies. Jarosite can be used for precise K-Ar and (40)Ar/(39)Ar dating. The preservation of jarosite on Mars provides information about the nature and duration of aqueous processes on the Martian surface. Different ages of Martian jarosite represent the key to constraining the transition from Martian surface water activity to arid climatic conditions. This paper summarizes recent advances in our knowledge of the spatial distribution of Martian jarosite, its mineralogical properties and stability on Mars, the Ar diffusion kinetics of jarosite, and the current status of in situ K-Ar dating. Moreover, we examine the key scientific issues to be addressed for in situ K-Ar dating of jarosite and Martian sample return missions, and discuss future research directions.

Multistate transition and coupled solid-liquid modeling of motion process of long-runout landslide

The recognition,repetition and prediction of the post-failure motion process of long-runout landslides are key scientific problems in the prevention and mitigation of geological *** this study,a new numerical method involving LPF3D based on a multialgorithm and multiconstitutive model was proposed to simulate long-runout landslides with high precision and *** following results were obtained:(a)The motion process of landslides showed a steric effect with mobility,including gradual disintegration and *** sliding mass can be divided into three states(dense,dilute and ultradilute)in the motion process,which can be solved by three dynamic regimes(friction,collision,and inertial);(b)Coupling simulation between the solid grain and liquid phases was achieved,focusing on drag force influences;(c)Different algorithms and constitutive models were employed in phase-state *** volume fraction is an important indicator to distinguish different state types and solid‒liquid *** flume experimental results were favorably validated against long-runout landslide case data;and(d)In this method,matched dynamic numerical modeling was developed to better capture the realistic motion process of long-runout landslides,and the advantages of continuum media and discrete media were combined to improve the computational accuracy and *** new method can reflect the realistic physical and mechanical processes in long-runout landslide motion and provide a suitable method for risk assessment and pre-failure prediction.

Understanding the spatial and temporal distribution of different paleontological communities in the southern South china Sea(SCS)is fundamental to explore its paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental *** this study,foraminifera,pollen and diatoms from 100 surface sediment samples covering 40000 km^(2) of sea floor in the southern SCS were comprehensively investigated in terms of their assemblage and *** results showed the existence of abundant foraminifera and pollen in most of the samples,although diatom communities were relatively *** were dominated by ***,***,***,while diatoms were characterized by ***,*** and ***,indicating a typical tropical marine *** pollen assemblages showed a better reflection of montane rainforest,tropical rainforest and *** spatial differences among foraminifera assemblages may indicate the effect of water depth and a warmer environment in the southeast part of the study area,while the spatial patterns of diatom and pollen assemblages imply the influence of coastal *** study also noted that the compositions of paleontological communities in the SCS can vary significantly in a short distance,and synthesized studies on multiple biological groups are needed to reconstruct the Quaternary climate and the oceanographic environment.
