Aqueous zinc-halogen batteries are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage due to their abundant resources,intrinsic safety,and high theoretical ***,the uncontrollable zinc dendrite growth and spontaneous shuttle effect of active species have prohibited their practical ***,a double-layered protective film based on zinc-ethylenediamine tetramethylene phosphonic acid(ZEA)artificial film and ZnF2-rich solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)layer has been successfully fabricated on the zinc metal anode via electrode/electrolyte synergistic *** ZEA-based artificial film shows strong affinity for the ZnF2-rich SEI layer,therefore effectively suppressing the SEI breakage and facilitating the construction of double-layered protective film on the zinc metal *** double-layered architecture not only modulates Zn2+flux and suppresses the zinc dendrite growth,but also blocks the direct contact between the metal anode and electrolyte,thus mitigating the corrosion from the active *** employing optimized metal anodes and electrolytes,the as-developed zinc-(dual)halogen batteries present high areal capacity and satisfactory cycling *** work provides a new avenue for developing aqueous zinc-(dual)halogen batteries.

Probing Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution of Cobalt Complexes: Experimental and Theoretical Methods

This work reports on the synthesis and characterization of a series of Schiff-base cobalt(III)complexes 1〜4 that exhibit an obvious catalytic activity for hydrogen production in aqueous solution using fluorescein(FL)and triethanolamine(TEOA)as photosensitizer and electron donor,*** complexes display the capability of splitting of water for H2 *** optimized conditions,complex 3 shows better properties for photocatalysis,25 mg of which can release 152.3μmol of H_(2) after irradiation for 3 *** mechanism for light-driven H_(2) production was explored by experiments and density functional theory(DFT).Meanwhile,the reason of releasing hydrogen was explained theoretically in *** research results will help to understand the interaction of cobalt complexes with the photosensitizer and design new photocatalysis for the future.

Spatio-temporal variations of the bacterioplankton community composition in Chaohu Lake, China

Despite considerable attention paid to Chaohu Lake in China, the dynamics of bacterioplankton community composition (BCC) on spatial and seasonal scales are poorly *** this study, water samples were collected from autumn 2006 to summer 2007 at five positions in Chaohu Lake with difierent trophic *** of these samples was determined by both the PCR amplification of the 16S rDNA gene and the denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE).The abundance and diversity of bacterioplankton communities at difierent sampling positions showed similar seasonal *** BCCs in the samples varied substantially, and the pattern of changes indicated that the seasonal difierence might have a significant impact on the BCC’s structure in the *** correspondence anal-ysis (CCA) on the DGGE patterns and physicochemical parameters indicated that the temperature and the levels of 5-d biochemical O2 demand (BOD5), NH3-N, CODMn, total nitrogen, total phosphorous, and dissolved oxygen significantly infiuenced the BCC, and four of the seven variables were related to the level of *** results indicate that eutrophic status and season are the most infiu-ential factors in determining BCC in Chaohu Lake.

Finite-time Sliding Mode Control Design for a Class of Uncertain Conic Nonlinear Systems

This paper studies the sliding mode controller design problems for a class of nonlinear system. The nonlinear function is considered to satisfy conic-type constraint condition. A novel finite-time boundedness(FTB) based sliding mode controller design theory is proposed. And then a sufficient condition is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs), which guarantees the resulted sliding mode dynamics to be FTB wrt some predefined scalars. Thereafter, a FTB-based sliding mode control(SMC) law is synthesized to ensure the state of the controlled system is driven into a novel desired switching surface s(t) = c(c is a constant) in a finite time. Simulation results illustrate the validity of the proposed FTB-based SMC design theory.

Surface terminals reconstruction:The way to widen the output voltage of MXene-based aqueous symmetrical microsupercapacitors

The low anodic oxidation potential severely suppresses the output voltage(≤0.6 V)of MXene-based symmetrical aqueous microsupercapacitors(MSA-MSCs)employing acidic ***,a surface terminals reconstruction mechanism on cathode of MSA-MSCs adopting aqueous neutral electrolyte(1 M Na_(2)SO_(4))is first revealed by systematical electrochemical experiments and in/ex-situ spectral analysis,which indicates that:the-O terminals on Ti3C2Tx flakes of cathode can combine with intercalated Na+cations during charging process to reconstruct into-ONa units to(i)inhibit the splitting reaction of adjacent water molecules,decreasing cathodic hydrogen evolution potential,more significantly,(ii)lower the potential of zero voltage(P0V)between the symmetrical electrodes to avoid anode oxidation,enabling full use of the unexploited potential range of ***,the output voltage of the MSA-MSCs tremendously expanded from 0.6 V in acidic polyacrylamide(PAM)/1 M H_(2)SO_(4)hydrogel electrolyte to 1.5 V in neutral polyacrylamide/1 M Na2SO4 hydrogel electrolyte,boosting the corresponding areal energy density from 9.9 to 34.6μW·h·cm^(-2).The demonstrated deep insight on the surface terminals reconstruction mechanism for synchronously modulating the P0V between symmetrical electrodes and hydrogen evolution potential on cathode provides critical guidance for widening the cell voltage of MSA-MSCs with safer and more inexpensive neutral electrolytes.

Low-dimensional cobalt doped carbon composite towards wideband electromagnetic dissipation

Composites composed of a carbon matrix decorated with a metal or metal oxide derived from zeolitic imidazolate frameworks(ZIFs)have been widely applied as suitable electromagnetic wave absorbers due to their high porosity and controllable ***,achieving ideal absorption performance remains a challenge owing to the inadequate conductivity and high density of the metal ***,a temperature-controlling treatment was employed for the bimetal ZIFs,and the corresponding derivatives exhibited an excellent dissipation ability with a minimum reflection loss value of−54.3 dB and an effective bandwidth of 7.0 GHz at a thickness of 2.4 mm,which resulted from the strong dipole polarization ***,after successfully controlling the Zn/Co ratio,the attenuation capability was greatly enhanced at a thickness of 1.4 mm,with bandwidths of 13.0–18.0 ***,this work provides an ameliorated strategy for microwave absorption performance of carbon-based materials.

Passive filtering of neural networks with time-invariant delay and quantized output is considered.A criterion on the passivity of a filtering error system is proposed by means of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and the Bessel-Legendre *** on the criterion,a design approach for desired passive filters is developed in terms of the feasible solution of a set of linear matrix ***,analyses and syntheses are extended to the time-variant delay situation using the reciprocally convex combination ***,a numerical example with simulations is used to illustrate the applicability and reduced conservatism of the present passive filter design approaches.

Light history modulates growth and photosynthetic responses of a diatom to ocean acidification and UV radiation

To examine the synergetic effects of ocean acidification(OA)and light intensity on the photosynthetic performance of marine diatoms,the marine centric diatom Thalassiosira weissflogii was cultured under ambient low CO_(2)(LC,390μatm)and elevated high CO_(2)(HC,1000μatm)levels under low-light(LL,60μmol m^(-2)s^(-1))or high-light(HL,220μmol m^(-2)s^(-1))conditions for over 20 *** stimulated the growth rate by 128 and 99%but decreased cell size by 9 and 7%under LC and HC conditions,***,HC did not change the growth rate under LL but decreased it by 9%under *** combined with HC decreased both maximum quantum yield(FV/FM)and effective quantum yield(ΦPSII),measured under either low or high actinic *** exposed to UV radiation(UVR),LL-grown cells were more prone to UVA exposure,with higher UVA and UVR inducing inhibition ofΦPSII compared with HL-grown *** use efficiency(α)and maximum relative electron transport rate(rETRmax)were inhibited more in the HC-grown cells when UVR(UVA and UVB)was present,particularly under *** results indicate that the growth light history influences the cell growth and photosynthetic responses to OA and UVR.

Hard carbons are widely investigated as potential anodes for lithium and sodium ion batteries owing to their internally well-tailored textures(closed pores and defects) and large microcrystalline interlayer spacing. The renewable biomass is a green and economically attractive carbon source to produce hard carbons. However, the chemical and structural complexity of biomass has plagued the understanding of evolution mechanism from organic precursors to hard carbons and the structure-property *** makes it difficult to finely tune the microstructure of biomass-derived hard carbons, thus greatly restricting their high-performance applications. Most recently, the optimal utilization and controllable conversion of biomass-derived biopolymers(such as starch, cellulose and lignin) at the molecular level have become a burgeoning area of research to develop hard carbons for advanced *** the principal source of carbonaceous materials is from biomass pyrolysis, we firstly overview the chemical structures and pyrolysis behaviors of three main biopolymers. Then, the controllable preparation of hard carbons using various physicochemical properties of biopolymers at the molecular level is systematically discussed. Furthermore, we highlight present challenges and further opportunities in this field. The Review will guide future research works on the design of sustainable hard carbons and the optimization of battery performance.
