Substructure isolation and damage identification using free responses

Structural health monitoring （SHM） has become a hot and intensively researched field in civil engineering. Thereinto, damage identification play an important role in maintaining structural integrity and safety. Many effective methods have been proposed for damage identification. However, accurate global identification of large real-world structures is not easy due to their com- plex and often unknown boundary conditions, nonlinear components, insensitivity of glohal response to localized damages, etc. Furthermore, global identification often requires lots of sensors and involves large number of unknowns. This is costly, rarely feasible in practice, and usually yields severely ill-conditioned identification problems. Substructuring approach is a possible solution： substructuring methods can focus on local small substructures; they need only a few sensors placed on the substruc- ture and yield smaller and numerically much more feasible identification problems. This paper proposed an improved sub- structure method using local free response for substructure damage identification. The virtual supports are constructed by Sub- structure Isolation Method （SIM） using the linear combination of the substructural responses. The influence of the global errors is isolated by adding the virtual supports on the main degree of freedoms （DOFs） of the substructure. Through the correlation analysis, the substructural modes are selected and used for damage identification of the substructure. A plain model of cable stayed bridge is used for the verification of the proposed method.

针对柔性风力机在实际运行过程中存在的叶片俯仰阻尼小、工作稳定性差和疲劳载荷严重等特点。将H∞鲁棒控制理论引入到具有柔性的风力机控制律设计中,再结合柔性风力机动力学模型,给出选择合适加权函数的方法。基于这种控制律设计方法,设计出3个不同H∞鲁棒控制器,并对其进行抗干扰和鲁棒性分析。通过仿真结果分析,得到综合考虑发电机工作稳定性、变桨结构性能及叶片广义位移、速度都较佳的H∞鲁棒控制器。

Embryonic stem(ES)cells have the ability to differ-entiate into all germ layers,holding great promise not only for a model of early embryonic development but also for a robust cell source for cell-replacement therapies and for drug *** body (EB)formation from ES cells is a common method for producing different cell lineages for further applications. However,conventional techniques such as hanging drop or static suspension culture are either inherently incapable of large scale production or exhibit limited control over cell aggregation during EB formation and subsequent EB *** standardized mass EB production,a well defined scale-up platform is ***,novel scenario methods of EB formation in hydrodynamic conditions created by bioreactor culture systems using stirred suspension systems(spinner flasks),rotating cell culture system and rotary orbital culture have allowed large-scale EB *** use allows for continuous monitoring and control of the physical and chemical environment which is difficult to achieve by traditional *** review summarizes the current state of production of EBs derived from pluripotent cells in various culture ***,an overview of high quality EB formation strategies coupled with systems for in vitro differentiation into various cell types to be applied in cell replacement therapy is provided in this review. Recently,new insights in induced pluripotent stem(iPS) cell technology showed that differentiation and lineage commitment are not irreversible processes and this has opened new avenues in stem cell *** cells are equivalent to ES cells in terms of both self-renewal and differentiation ***,culture systems for expansion and differentiation of iPS cells can also apply methodologies developed with ES cells,although direct evidence of their use for iPS cells is still limited.

The use of metal hydrides in fuel cell applications

This paper reviews state-of-the-art developments in hydrogen energy systems which integrate fuel cells with metal hydride-based hydrogen storage. The 187 reference papers included in this review provide an overview of all major publications in the field, as well as recent work by several of the authors of the review. The review contains four parts. The first part gives an overview of the existing types of fuel cells and outlines the potential of using metal hydride stores as a source of hydrogen fuel. The second part of the review considers the suitability and optimisation of different metal hydrides based on their energy efficient thermal integration with fuel *** performances of metal hydrides are considered from the viewpoint of the reversible heat driven interaction of the metal hydrides with gaseous H;. Efficiencies of hydrogen and heat exchange in hydrogen stores to control H;charge/discharge flow rates are the focus of the third section of the review and are considered together with metal hydride – fuel cell system integration issues and the corresponding engineering solutions. Finally, the last section of the review describes specific hydrogen-fuelled systems presented in the available reference data.

A Proximity-Aware BitTorrent System via Tracker-Side Biased Neighbor Selection

To address cross-ISP traffic problem caused by BitTorrent,we present our design and evaluation of a proximity-aware BitTorrent system. In our approach,clients generate global proximity-aware information by using landmark clustering;the tracker uses this proximity to maintain all peers in an orderly way and hands back a biased subset consisting of the peers who are physically closest to the requestor. Our approach requires no co-operation between P2P users and their Internet infra structures,such as ISPs or CDNs,no constantly path monitoring or probing their neighbors. The simulation results show that our approach can not only reduce unnecessary cross-ISP traffic,but also allow downloadsing fast.

Resolving regional carbon budgets is critical for informing land-based mitigation policy. For nine regions covering nearly the whole globe, we collected inventory estimates of carbon-stock changes complemented by satellite estimates of biomass changes where inventory data are missing. The net land–atmospheric carbon exchange(NEE) was calculated by taking the sum of the carbon-stock change and lateral carbon fluxes from crop and wood trade, and riverine-carbon export to the ocean. Summing up NEE from all regions, we obtained a global ‘bottom-up’ NEE for net land anthropogenic CO2uptake of –2.2 ± 0.6 Pg C yr-1consistent with the independent top-down NEE from the global atmospheric carbon budget during 2000–2009. This estimate is so far the most comprehensive global bottom-up carbon budget accounting, which set up an important milestone for global carbon-cycle studies. By decomposing NEE into component fluxes, we found that global soil heterotrophic respiration amounts to a source of CO2of 39 Pg C yr-1with an interquartile of 33–46 Pg C yr-1—a much smaller portion of net primary productivity than previously reported.

Resonant light pressure effects can open new degrees of freedom in optical manipulation with microparticles,but they have been traditionally considered as relatively subtle *** a simplified two-dimensional model of surface electromagnetic waves evanescently coupled to whispering gallery modes(WGMs)in transparent circular cavities,we show that under resonant conditions the peaks of the optical forces can approach theoretical limits imposed by the momentum conservation law on totally absorbing ***,we proved the existence of strong peaks of the optical forces by studying the optical propulsion of dielectric microspheres along tapered *** observed giant optical propelling velocities,0.45 mm s21 for some of the 15-20 mm polystyrene microspheres in water for guided powers limited at,43 *** velocities exceed previous observations by more than an order of magnitude,thereby providing evidence for the strongly enhanced resonant optical *** analyzed the statistical properties of the velocity distribution function measured for slightly disordered(,1%size variations)ensembles of microspheres with mean diameters varying from 3 to 20 *** results demonstrate a principal possibility of optical sorting of microspheres with the positions of WGM resonances overlapped at the wavelength of the laser *** can be used as building blocks of the lossless coupled resonator optical waveguides and various integrated optoelectronics devices.

目的:探讨我国南方社区人群中无症状轻度高尿酸血症(hyperuricemia,HUA)与预估肾小球滤过率(estimated GFR,eGFR)及尿白蛋白肌酐比(albumin-creatinine ratio,ACR)的关系,分析轻度HUA对肾脏的不利影响。方法:对广东省珠海市 1 276 名社区居民行横断面调查,在全人群及男、女性人群中分别比较轻度HUA组与正常组eGFR、ACR的差异。使用单因素、多因素及逐步logistic回归模型探讨轻度HUA是否构成eGFR降低及ACR轻度升高的危险因素。结果:在全人群及女性人群中,轻度HUA组eGFR均低于正常组,且单因素、多因素及逐步logistic回归模型均显示轻度HUA是eGFR降低的危险因素;在全人群、男性及女性人群中,轻度HUA组ACR与正常组的组间差异均无统计学意义( P >0.05);在全人群中,仅单因素logistic回归模型显示轻度HUA构成ACR轻度升高的危险因素。结论:无症状轻度HUA可能对南方社区人群特别是女性人群的肾脏滤过功能产生不利影响。
