The necessity of the use of the block and parallel modeling of the nonlinear continuous mappings with NN is firstly expounded quantitatively. Then, a practical approach for the block and parallel modeling of the nonlinear continuous mappings with NN is proposed. Finally, an example indicating that the method raised in this paper can be realized by suitable existed software is given. The results of the experiment of the model discussed on the 3-D Mexican straw hat indicate that the block and parallel modeling based on NN is more precise and faster in computation than the direct ones and it is obviously a concrete example and the development of the large-scale general model established by Tu Xuyan.

Least squares support vector machines (LS-SVMs) are modified support vector machines (SVMs) that involve equality constraints and work with a least squares cost function, which simplifies the optimization procedure. In this paper, a novel training algorithm based on total least squares (TLS) for an LS-SVM is presented and applied to multifunctional sensor signal reconstruction. For three different nonlinearities of a multifunctional sensor model, the reconstruction accuracies of input signals are 0.001 36%, 0.031 84% and 0.504 80%, respectively. The experimental results demonstrate the higher reliability and accuracy of the proposed method for multifunctional sensor signal reconstruction than the original LS-SVM training algorithm, and verify the feasibility and stability of the proposed method.

Imprinting Analysis of RTL1 and DIO3 Genes and Their Association with Carcass Traits in Pigs (Sus scrofa)

Imprinted genes play significant roles in the regulation of fetal growth, development, function of the placenta and postnatal behavior in mammals, but little is known in pigs. In order to investigate the imprinting status of porcine retro-transposon like 1 （RTL1） and type 3 iodothyronine deiodinase （DIO3） genes, DNA or RNA samples of the parents and F1 animals, generated with reciprocal crosses between Large White and Meishan breeds, were isolated, and analyzed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism （RT-PCR-RFLP）. The results demonstrated that the RTL1 gene was paternally expressed in 10 tissues, such as the skeletal muscle, heart, spleen, liver, kidney, lung, stomach, fat, small intestine and brain, and D103 gene exhibited paternal expression in the skeletal muscle, heart, spleen, lung, stomach, and brain, in 2-month-old pigs. The association of RTL1 and DI03 with carcass traits was further analyzed in the F2 population of Large White×Meishan pigs. The statistical results showed that the R TL1 A1101G polymorphism （EU781029） was significantly associated with lean meat percentage （LMP） and fat meat percentage （FMP）（P〈0.05）, while the D103 A744C polymorphism （AY533208） was not significantly associated with any carcass traits. These results indicate that the imprinting status of RTL1 and DIO3 is well kept across the mammalian species, and porcine RTL1 may have important roles in muscle growth and fat deposition.

The Wyner-Ziv Problem for general sources with average distortion under fixed-length coding is investigated in this paper. To solve the problem,an enhanced covering lemma for a Markov chain is first established. Then based on the lemma,a general formula for the rate-distortion function of the problem is derived,where the distortion is only assumed uniformly bounded and may be nonadditive. Finally,it is further pointed out that such methods can be used to establish more general results on multiterminal source coding problems.

Let σ be a skew pairing on the pair (B, H) of Hopf algebras, and A a left(B, H) bicomodule algebra. A new algebra A_σ, called the twisting product of A, is obtained by alternating the multiplication of A using σ and the coactions on A by B and H. σ induces a skew pairing on (B B,H H), and the regular comodule structures of B and H induce a left (B B,H H) bicomodule algebra structure on B H, and the associated twisting product (B H)is a Hopf algebra, with the tensor coalgebra structure; moreover, A_σ remains a left (B H),comodule algebra. In particular,a description of the Drinfeld double is obtained from the twisting point of view. In addition, smash products appear as special cases. Dually, the construction of twisting coproducts is introduced by using copairings, and the Drinfeld quantum codouble and some smash coproducts are described.

High energy density and low cost made lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries appealing for the next-generation energy storage ***,their commercial viability is seriously challenged by serious polysulfide shuttle effect,sluggish sulfur kinetics,and uncontrollable dendritic Li ***,a dual-functional electrolyte additive,diphenyl ditelluride(DPDTe)is reported for Li–S *** sulfur cathodes,DPDTe works as a redox mediator to accelerate redox kinetics of sulfur,in which Te radical-mediated catalytic cycle at the solid–liquid interface contributes significantly to the whole *** lithium anodes,DPDTe can react with lithium metal to form a smooth and stable organic–inorganic hybrid solid-electrolyte interphase(SEI),enabling homogeneous lithium deposition for suppressing dendrite ***,the Li–S battery with DPDTe exhibits remarkable cycling stability and superb rate capability,with a high capacity up to 1227.3 mAh g^(-1)and stable cycling over 300 ***,a Li–S pouch cell with DPDTe is evaluated as the proof of *** work demonstrates that organotelluride compounds can be used as functional electrolyte additives and offers new insights and opportunities for practical Li–S batteries.

Influence of input acoustic power on regenerator's performance

Performance of a pulse tube cooler significantly depends on the efficient operation of its regenerator. Influence of input acoustic power on regenerator's performance is simulated and analyzed with simple harmonic analysis method. Given regenera-tor's dimensions and pressure ratio,there is an optimal input acoustic power for achieving a highest coefficient of performance,due to a compromise between relative time-averaged total energy flux in regenerator and relative acoustic power at regenerator's cold end. Additionally,optimal dimensions of regenerator are also estimated and presented for different input acoustic powers. The computed optimal diameter obviously increases with increase of input acoustic power,while the optimal length decreases slightly,and as a result,a larger input acoustic power requires a smaller aspect ratio (length over diameter).

This study presents the radar-based characteristics and formation environment of supercells spawned by the tornadic landfalling Typhoon Mujigae(2015)in October *** than 100 supercells were identified within a 24-hour period around the time of the typhoon’s landfall,of which three were tornadic with a rotational intensity clearly stronger than those of non-tornadic *** identified supercells were concentrated within a relatively small area in the northeast quadrant beyond 140 km from the typhoon *** supercells were found more likely to form over flat topography and were difficult to maintain in mountainous *** the study period,more supercells formed offshore than *** mesocyclones of the identified supercells were characterized by a small diameter generally less than 5 km and a shallow depth generally less than 4 km above ground *** environmental analysis revealed that the northeast quadrant had the most favorable conditions for the genesis of supercell in this typhoon *** nondimensional supercell composite parameter(SCP)and entraining-SCP(E-SCP)were effective in separating supercell from non-supercell *** though the atmosphere in the typhoon’s northeast quadrant was characterized by an E-SCP/SCP value supportive of supercell organization,orography was an impeditive factor for the supercell *** findings support the use of traditional parameters obtained from midlatitude supercells to assess the supercell potential in a tropical cyclone envelope.

The selective regulation of immune responses by matrix metalloproteinase MMP14 in Ostrinia furnacalis

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are crucial for tissue remodeling and immune responses in insects, yet it remains unclear how MMPs affect the various immune processes against pathogenic infections and whether the responses vary among insects. In this study, we used the lepidopteran pest Ostrinia furnacalis larvae to address these questions by examining the changes of immune-related gene expression and antimicrobial activity after the knockdown of MMP14 and bacterial infections. We identified MMP14 in O. furnacalis using the rapid amplification of complementary DNA ends (RACE), and found that it was conserved and belonged to the MMP1 subfamily. Our functional investigations revealed that MMP14 is an infection-responsive gene, and its knockdown reduces phenoloxidase (PO) activity and Cecropin expression, while the expressions of Lysozyme, Attacin, Gloverin, and Moricin are enhanced after MMP14 knockdown. Further PO and lysozyme activity determinations showed consistent results with gene expression of these immune-related genes. Finally, the knockdown of MMP14 decreased larvae survival to bacterial infections. Taken together, our data indicate that MMP14 selectively regulates the immune responses, and is required to defend against bacterial infections in O. furnacalis larvae. Conserved MMPs may serve as a potential target for pest control using a combination of double-stranded RNA and bacterial infection.
