Serving as a way to understand the material composition,structure,and dynamic process of the Earth's interior,deep earth exploration is driven by not only mankind's pursuit of natural mysteries but also mankind's basic need to obtain resources and guarantee economic and social *** first phase of deep earth exploration of china(SinoProbe)was carried out from 2008 to 2016 and tremendous results were *** 2016,the china geological survey launched a Deep geological survey Project(also referred to as the Project)to continuously explore the deep *** on the national energy resources strategy,the Belt and Road Initiative,and major basic issues of the geological survey,the Project was carried out in Songliao Basin(an important energy base in china)and major geological boundaries and tectonic units including Qilian Mountains-Tianshan Mountains and Qinzhou-Hangzhou juncture *** purpose of it is to reveal the process,structure,and forming patterns of the deep ore deposits and petroleum reservoirs,clarify the evolutionary pattern and controlling factors of Mesozoic environmental climate,and discover deep fine structures of key orogens,basins,and mountains by comprehensive geophysical exploration and scientific *** achievements have been obtained after more than three years of efforts,including a cumulative 1552 km of deep seismic reflection profiles and magnetotelluric profiles,an ultra-deep continental scientific crilling well,a scientific drilling pilot hole,and a magnetotelluric array and a portable broadband seismic array,both of which cover South ***,significant progress has been made in ultra-deep drilling technology,deep oil and gas discovery in Songliao Basin,and basic geological issues of Qilian Orogen and Qinzhou-Hangzhou juncture belt in South china,greatly accelerating the deep earth exploration in china and further consolidating china's position as a power in deep earth exploration.

Over the last 10 years,the china geological survey has deployed 137 slim-hole shale gas geological exploration wells for coring entire *** wells are primarily located in new blocks and geological formations where neighboring well data are insufficient,beyond the scope of developed oil fields in china,or outside of oil and gas company mining-right *** drilling rig equipment,coring tools,and core drill bits of slim-hole shale gas drilling technology are different from those associated with traditional petroleum *** studies have been conducted on non-coring slim-hole drilling *** paper focuses on coring technology and drilling safety,summarizing a set of high-efficiency shale gas drilling equipment and technology systems based on geological drilling equipment and techniques(that can be used for solid mineral exploration).We report on:1)an improved vertical shaft drilling rig adapted to shale gas well control safety;2)high-efficiency core drilling techniques,focusing on coring tools,and techniques incorporating an inverted tower drilling tool combination,air circulation follow-through technology,and expanded casing technology;3)research progress on high-efficiency core drill bits,including non-planar tooth polycrystalline diamond compact bits and impregnated diamond core bits,along with their application *** research provides substantial advances in drill-core technology and improvements in exploration ***,it provides a reference frame for well structural design and selection of construction technology for shale gas exploration drilling projects.

Using a Gaussian mathematical model to define eruptive stages of young volcanic rocks in Tengchong based on laser 40Ar/39Ar dating

Reconstruction of Quaternary environments,late Cenozoic geodynamics and evaluation of volcanic hazards,all depend on the precise delineation of eruptive *** recent years,laser 40Ar/39Ar dating methods have been widely used for dating young volcanic rocks,given their stable automated testing process,very low background level and high sensitivity,which meet the requirements for precise dating of young *** paper applied high-precision laser 40Ar/39Ar dating to the main volcanic units in the Tengchong area and obtained ages in the range of 0.025–5.1 Ma using conventional data processing ***,conventional dating highlighted issues related to very low radiogenic 40Ar content,accidental errors and poor data stability,which led to huge age ***,lacking a unified timescale,conventional methods were unable to strictly define the stages of the Tengchong volcanic eruptions,leading to ongoing *** this study,we applied a Gaussian mathematical model to deal with all 378 original ages from 13 *** apparent age-probability diagram,consisting of three independent waveforms,have been *** corresponding isochron ages of these three waveforms suggest there were three volcanic eruptive stages,namely during the Pliocene(3.78±0.04 Ma),early Middle Pleistocene(0.63±0.03 Ma)and late Middle Pleistocene to early Late Pleistocene(0.139±0.005 Ma).These results accurately define eruptive stages in the Tengchong area.

Major and Trace Elements of Magnetite from the Qimantag Metallogenic Belt: Insights into Evolution of Ore–forming Fluids

Magnetite, as a genetic indicator of ores, has been studied in various deposits in the world. In this paper, we present textural and compositional data of magnetite from the Qimantag metallogenic belt of the Kunlun Orogenic Belt in china, to provide a better understanding of the formation mechanism and genesis of the metallogenic belt and to shed light on analytical protocols for the in situ chemical analysis of magnetite. Magnetite samples from various occurrences, including the ore-related granitoid pluton, mineralised endoskarn and vein-type iron ores hosted in marine carbonate intruded by the pluton, were examined using scanning electron microscopy and analysed for major and trace elements using electron microprobe and laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. The field and microscope observation reveals that early-stage magnetite from the Hutouya and Kendekeke deposits occurs as massive or banded assemblages, whereas late- stage magnetite is disseminated or scattered in the ores. Early-stage magnetite contains high contents of Ti, V, Ga, AI and low in Mg and Mn. In contrast, late-stage magnetite is high in Mg, Mn and low in Ti, V, Ga, AI. Most magnetite grains from the Qimantag metallogenic belt deposits except the Kendekeke deposit plot in the ＂ Skarn ＂ field in the Ca＋AI＋Mn vs Ti＋V diagram, far from typical magmatic Fe deposits such as the Damiao and Panzhihua deposits. According to the （MgO＋MnO）- TiO^-AI203 diagram, magnetite grains from the Kaerqueka and Galingge deposits and the No.7 ore body of the Hutouya deposit show typical characteristics of skarn magnetite, whereas magnetite grains from the Kendekeke deposit and the No.2 ore body of the Hutouya deposit show continuous elemental variation from magmatic type to skarn type. This compositional contrast indicates that chemical composition of magnetite is largely controlled by the compositions of magmatic fluids and host rocks of the ores that have reacted with the fluids. GIS-Based and Data-Driven Bivariate Landslide-Susceptibility Mapping in the Three Gorges Area, china

A detailed landslide-susceptibility map was produced using a data-driven objective bivariate analysis method with datasets developed for a geographic information system （GIS）. Known as one of the most landslide-prone areas in china, the Zhongxian-Shizhu Segment in the Three Gorges Reservoir region of china was selected as a suitable case because of the frequency and distribution of landslides. The site covered an area of 260.93 km^2 with a landslide area of 5.32 km^2. Four data domains were used in this study, including remote sensing products, thematic maps, geological maps, and topographical maps, all with 25 m × 25 m pixels. Statistical relationships for landslide susceptibility were developed using landslide and landslide causative factor databases. All continuous variables were converted to categorical variables according to the percentile divisions of seed cells, and the corresponding class weight values were calculated and summed to create the susceptibility map. According to the map, 3.6% of the study area was identified as high-susceptibility. Extremely low-, very low-, low-, and medium-susceptibility zones covered 19.66%, 31.69%, 27.95%, and 17.1% of the area, respectively. The high- and medium-hazardons zones are along both sides of the Yangtze River, being in agreement with the actual distribution of landslides.

Records of Indosinian Orogenesis in Lhasa Terrane, Tibet

Based on the deformation characteristics of the ductile shear zones in Sumdo （松多） Group, the quartz fabric by EBSD （electron backscatter diffraction）, the data of muscovite 40Ar-39Ar geochronology （220-230 Ma） from ductile shear zones and the zircon SHRIMP U-Pb chronology （190 Ma） of granites in Sumdo region, Lhasa （拉萨） terrane is thought to have experienced an important Indosinian orogenic event at 220-230 Ma, which caused the closure of the paleo-Tethys Ocean along the tectonic zone of eclogite and the collision between northern part and southern part of the Lhasa terrane. The zircon SHRIMP U-Pb chronology of 190 Ma for biotite adamellite, with the distributing characteristics of the granite massif intruding in Sumdo Group, indicates that the biotite adamellite should be the late orogenic or post-orogenic granite resulting from the Indosinian orogenesis. The discovery of Indosinian orogenic belt in Lhasa terrane expansed the southern boundary of Indosinian orogenic belt in Qinghai （青海）-Tibet plateau to Lhasa terrane from Qiangtang （羌塘） terrane, which changed the understanding about the distribution of Indosinian orogenic belt in Qinghai-Tibet plateau and extended the ＂T＂ type Indosinian orogenic belt in china. The study is very important for the formation and distribution of paleo-Tethys Ocean in Tibet. The ancient terrane framework and evolution of Qinghai-Tibet plateau need further research.

In Situ Analyses of Trace Elements, U–Pb and Lu–Hf Isotopes in Zircons from the Tongshankou Granodiorite Porphyry in Southeast Hubei Province, Middle-Lower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt, china

The Tongshankou Cu-Mo deposit, located in southeast Hubei province, is a typical skarn–porphyry type ore deposit closely related to the Tongshankou granodiorite porphyry, characterized by a high Sr/Y *** in situ analyses of the trace elements and U–Pb and Lu–Hf isotopes in zircons from the Tongshankou granodiorite porphyry were *** any inherited zircons were observed, and the analyzed zircons yielded highly concordant results with a weighted mean 206Pb/238 U age of 143.5 ± 0.45 Ma（n=20, mean square weighted deviation was 0.75）, which was interpreted to represent the crystallization age of the Tongshankou granodiorite *** chondrite-normalized rare-earth element pattern was characterized by a slope that steeply rises from the light-group rare-earth elements（LREE） to the heavy-group rare-earth elements（HREE） with a positive Ce-anomaly and inconspicuous Eu-anomaly, which was coincident with the pattern of the zircons from the Chuquicamata West porphyry, *** analyzed zircons also had relatively low 176Hf/177 Hf ratios of 0.282526–*** t=143 Ma, the corresponding calculated initial Hf isotope compositions（εHf（t）） ranged from-5.6 *** results of the in situ analysis of trace elements and U–Pb and Lu–Hf isotopes in zircons from the Tongshankou granodiorite porphyry suggest that a deep-seated process involving a thickened-crust/enriched-mantle interaction may play an important role in the generation of high Sr/Y-ratio magma and potentially in the generation of porphyry Cu-Mo systems.
