Revealing and predicting the long-term biomechanical response of orthokeratology by developing a patient-specific computational model

Orthokeratology(OK) is widely used for effective myopia correction and control. However, the incomplete understanding of its biomechanical mechanisms makes OK lens fitting rely heavily on clinician judgment, complicating accurate predictions of treatment outcomes. In this paper, we performed clinical experiments and numerical analysis to study corneal deformation modes and long-term changes in central corneal thickness. Clinical experiments were conducted on 194 Chinese myopic patients under OK treatment for 3 months. Based on the experimental data, a patient-specific computational biomechanical model for OK was established and validated. Specifically, the anisotropic mechanical properties of the cornea were incorporated into the model to describe the significant difference between its shear modulus(29.5 kPa) and tensile modulus(768.4 kPa). Additionally, a viscohyperelastic material model with a prolonged corneal relaxation time of 5.6 h was developed to capture the long-term deformation response. The results show that corneal thickness reduction in OK is primarily due to out-of-plane shear deformation,influenced by the cornea's low shear resistance. Modeling the extended corneal relaxation time is crucial for predicting long-term biomechanical responses. The computational model effectively captures long-term changes in central corneal thickness, potentially improving OK lens fitting accuracy.

In the realm of Intelligent Railway Transportation Systems,effective multi-party collaboration is crucial due to concerns over privacy and data *** Federated Learning(VFL)has emerged as a promising approach to facilitate such collaboration,allowing diverse entities to collectively enhance machine learning models without the need to share sensitive training ***,existing works have highlighted VFL’s susceptibility to privacy inference attacks,where an honest but curious server could potentially reconstruct a client’s raw data from embeddings uploaded by the *** vulnerability poses a significant threat to VFL-based intelligent railway transportation *** this paper,we introduce SensFL,a novel privacy-enhancing method to against privacy inference attacks in ***,SensFL integrates regularization of the sensitivity of embeddings to the original data into the model training process,effectively limiting the information contained in shared *** reducing the sensitivity of embeddings to the original data,SensFL can effectively resist reverse privacy attacks and prevent the reconstruction of the original data from the *** experiments were conducted on four distinct datasets and three different models to demonstrate the efficacy of *** results show that SensFL can effectively mitigate privacy inference attacks while maintaining the accuracy of the primary learning *** results underscore SensFL’s potential to advance privacy protection technologies within VFL-based intelligent railway systems,addressing critical security concerns in collaborative learning environments.

Spin-orbit torque （SOT）,as a promising writing method for magnetic random-access memory （MRAM）,has garnered widespread interest for over a decade [1].Heavy metals,such as β-W,have been broadly adopted as spin current sources,but suffer from phase change at a limited thickness,resulting in a dramatic reduction of the charge-tospin conversion efficiency θSH[2].The thickness limitation leads to stringent etching conditions and large distribution among devices,posing challenges for simultaneously satisfying SOT efficiency,etching-stop margins,and back-end-ofline （BEOL） compatibility.

Urea transporters(UT)play a vital role in the mechanism of urine concentration and are recognized as novel targets for the development of salt-sparing ***,UT inhibitors are promising for development as novel *** the present study,a novel UT inhibitor with a diarylamide scaffold was discovered by high-throughput *** of the inhibitor led to the identifi-cation of a promising preclinical candidate,N-[4-(acetylamino)phenyl]-5-nitrofuran-2-carboxamide(1 H),with excellent in vitro UT inhibitory activity at the submicromolar *** half maximal inhibitory concentrations of 1 H against UT-B in mouse,rat,and human erythrocyte were 1.60,0.64,and0.13 mmol/L,*** investigation suggested that 8 mmol/L 1 H more powerfully inhibited UT-A1 at a rate of 86.8%than UT-B at a rate of 73.9%in MDCK cell *** interestingly,we found for the first time that oral administration of 1 H at a dose of 100 mg/kg showed superior diuretic effect in vivo without causing electrolyte imbalance in ***,1 H did not exhibit apparent toxicity in vivo and in vitro,and possessed favorable pharmacokinetic characteristics.1 H shows promise as a novel diuretic to treat hyponatremia accompanied with volume expansion and may cause few side effects.

The representations are brought to light by exploiting the characteristic for eigenpairs(eigenvalue and its corresponding eigenvector) of tridiagonal matrices, isospectral transforms and sharp bounds for speed stability of birth-death processes.

Several promising plasma biomarker proteins,such as amyloid-β(Aβ),tau,neurofilament light chain,and glial fibrillary acidic protein,are widely used for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative ***,little is known about the long-term stability of these biomarker proteins in plasma samples stored at-80°*** aimed to explore how storage time would affect the diagnostic accuracy of these biomarkers using a large *** samples from 229 cognitively unimpaired individuals,encompassing healthy controls and those experiencing subjective cognitive decline,as well as 99 patients with cognitive impairment,comprising those with mild cognitive impairment and dementia,were acquired from the Sino Longitudinal Study on Cognitive Decline *** samples were stored at-80°C for up to 6 years before being used in this *** results showed that plasma levels of Aβ42,Aβ40,neurofilament light chain,and glial fibrillary acidic protein were not significantly correlated with sample storage ***,the level of total tau showed a negative correlation with sample storage ***,in individuals without cognitive impairment,plasma levels of total protein and tau phosphorylated protein threonine 181(p-tau181)also showed a negative correlation with sample storage *** was not observed in individuals with cognitive ***,we speculate that the diagnostic accuracy of plasma p-tau181 and the p-tau181 to total tau ratio may be influenced by sample storage ***,caution is advised when using these plasma biomarkers for the identification of neurodegenerative diseases,such as Alzheimer's ***,in cohort studies,it is important to consider the impact of storage time on the overall results.

OBJECTIVE Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) encompasses a series of *** changes ranging from steatosis to steatohepatitis,which may progress to cirrhosis and *** *** purpose of this study was to determine whether Ganoderma lucidum *** peptide(GLPP) has therapeutic effect on *** ob/ob mouse model and ApoC3 transgenic mouse model were used for exploring the effect of GLPP on *** metabolic *** and enzymes were identified by metabolomics combining with KEGG and PIUmet analyses and key enzymes were detected by Western *** models of HepG2 cells and primary hepatocytes were used to further confirm the therapeutic effect of GLPP on *** GLPP administrated for a month alleviated hepatosteatosis,dyslipidemia,liver dysfunction and liver insulin *** of glycerophospholipid metabolism,fatty acid metabolism and primary bile acid biosynthesis were involved in the therapeutic effect of GLPP on *** of key enzymes revealed that GLPP reversed low expression of CYP7 A1,CYP8 B1,FXR,SHP and high expression of FGFR4 in ob/ob mice and ApoC3 ***,GLPP inhibited fatty acid synthesis by reducing the expression of SREBP1 c,FAS and ACC via a FXR-SHP dependent ***,GLPP reduced the accumulation of lipid droplets and the content of TG in HepG2 cells and primary *** induced by oleic acid and palmitic *** GLPP significantly improves NAFLD via regulating bile acid synthesis dependent on FXR-SHP/FGF pathway,which finally inhibits fatty acid synthesis,indicating that GLPP might be developed as a therapeutic drug for NAFLD.
