Methane, an abundant one-carbon（C1） resource, is extensively used in the industrial production of vital fuels and value-added chemicals. However, current industrial methane conversion technologies are energy-and carbon-intensive, mainly due to the high activation energy required to break the inert C–H bond, low selectivity, and problematic side reactions, including CO2emissions and coke deposition. Electrochemical conversion of methane（ECM） using intermittent renewable energy offers an attractive solution, due to its modular reactor design and operational flexibility across a broad spectrum of temperatures and pressures. This review emphasizes conversion pathways of methane in various reaction systems, highlighting the significance and advantages of ECM in facilitating a sustainable artificial carbon cycle. This work provides a comprehensive overview of conventional methane activation mechanisms and delineates the complete pathways of methane conversion in electrolysis contexts. Based on surface/interface chemistry, this work systematically analyzes proposed reaction pathways and corresponding strategies to enhance ECM efficiency towards various target products, including syngas, hydrocarbons, oxygenates, and advanced carbon materials. The discussion also encompasses opportunities and challenges for the ECM process, including insights into ECM pathways, rational electrocatalyst design, establishment of benchmarking protocols, electrolyte engineering, enhancement of CH4conversion rates, and minimization of CO2emission.

Noise-induced hearing loss is the primary non-genetic factor contributing to auditory ***,there are currently no effective pharmacological interventions for patients with noise-induced hearing ***,we present evidence suggesting that the lysine-specific demethylase 1 inhibitor–tranylcypromine is an otoprotective agent that could be used to treat noise-induced hearing loss,and elucidate its underlying regulatory *** established a mouse model of permanent threshold shift hearing loss by exposing the mice to white broadband noise at a sound pressure level of 120 d B for 4 *** found that tranylcypromine treatment led to the upregulation of Sestrin2(SESN2)and activation of the autophagy markers light chain 3B and lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein 1 in the cochleae of mice treated with *** noise exposure group treated with tranylcypromine showed significantly lower average auditory brainstem response hearing thresholds at click,4,8,and 16 k Hz frequencies compared with the noise exposure group treated with *** findings indicate that tranylcypromine treatment resulted in increased SESN2,light chain 3B,and lysosome-associated membrane glycoprotein 1 expression after noise exposure,leading to a reduction in levels of 4-hydroxynonenal and cleaved caspase-3,thereby reducing noise-induced hair cell ***,immunoblot analysis demonstrated that treatment with tranylcypromine upregulated SESN2 expression via the autophagy *** treatment also reduced the production of NOD-like receptor family pyrin domaincontaining 3(NLRP3)*** conclusion,our results showed that tranylcypromine treatment ameliorated cochlear inflammation by promoting the expression of SESN2,which induced autophagy,thereby restricting NLRP3-related inflammasome signaling,alleviating cochlear hair cell loss,and protecting hearing *** findings suggest that inhibiting lysine-specific demethylase 1 is a

New insights into the limit of the magnetic monopole flux and the heatingsource in white dwarfs

Based on the magnetic monopole(MM)catalytic nuclear decay(Rubakov-Callan(RC)effect),we propose five new models to discuss the limit of the MM flux and the heating energy resources of white dwarfs(WDs)based on observations of 13 red giant branch(RGB)*** find that the number of MMs captured can reach a maximum value of 9.1223×10^(24)when m=10^(17)GeV,nB=5.99×10^(31)cm^(-3),Φ=7.59×10^(-26)cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1).The good agreement of our calculated luminosities for WDs with observation provides support for our model based on the RC effect by *** obtain a new limit of the MM flux of ξ=Φ(σ_(m)^(v)T)_(-28)≤9.0935×10^(-13)cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1),and≤4.9950×10^(-13)cm^(-2)s^(-1)sr^(-1)at nB=5.99×1031cm-3 when m=1015GeV,β=9.4868×10^(-3),and m=1017Gev,β=10^(-3),*** results show that the RC effect could cause heating that prevents white dwarfs from cooling down into a stellar *** results will also provide a new idea for further research on the upper limit of MM flow(note:nB,σ_(m),m,φ,ξ,are the baryon number density,reaction cross section,mass,MM flux,and the new limit of the MM flux,respectively,andβ=v_(T/C)is the ratio of the speed of MMs to that of light).

Surface embedded binary Co-Cu hydroxy phosphate over surface of oxy/hydroxides for efficient nitrate reduction to ammonia

Electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction(NO3RR)to ammonia is a promising approach to address excess Ncontamination in aqueous environment but suffers from a limited ammonia yield and selectivity due to the low concentration and sluggish *** work reports a three-dimensional porous electrode with binary Co_(2)Cu_(1)hydroxy phosphate embedded into the surface of Ni_(3)Co_(1)oxy/hydroxides(CoCu-PH@NiCo/Ni,“PH”means phosphate-hydroxide),which delivers a yield of 4.13 mg·h^(-1)·cm^(-2)with a high Faraday efficiency of 92.6%under a low nitrate concentration of 40 mM and provide an impressive *** embedded structure of the as-prepared catalyst exhibits unique metal coordination ligands and valence states different from the unitary *** electrochemical in situ infrared spectra and theoretical calculations revealed that the Co sites with the ability to dissociate water molecular to form adsorbed OH*can effectively provide the required protons for the deoxygenation and hydrogenation steps during NO3-conversion,thereby,effectively reducing the energy barrier of the key transition states in the NO3RR process to improve the intrinsic *** demonstrate that the rational design of binary components with the appropriate ability to activate water molecules as well as the threedimensional porous skeletal structure are expected to promote effectively the low-concentration nitrates conversion to ammonia.

New insight into the origin and evolution of the flora and fauna of hainan Island, China

The origin of the biota of hainan Island, China, remains a fundamental scientific problem. Comparative studies on the biota, geological tectonics, and paleomagnetism proposed that during the Eocene, hainan Island connected Vietnam and Guangxi, and then moved to the southeast to reach its present location. This review mainly discusses its biota origin from molecular phylogeny and palaeobotanical research. The formation and evolution of the biological groups of hainan Island were identified via research on their genomes, phylogeny, and molecular biogeography. This research showed that the genera and species that appeared and diverged early in their evolution(i.e., before the Miocene) can be explained by the land connection between hainan Island, Vietnam, and Guangxi during the Eocene-Oligocene. According to Southeast Asian tectonic theory, in the Middle Miocene(at about 15 million years ago), hainan Island had moved to its present position. The population and genetic divergence of species with late divergence times(after 15 Ma) can be reasonably explained by the close proximity(or land connection) between hainan Island and the Leizhou Peninsula, enabling genetic communication between hainan Island and the Chinese mainland, but have exceptional cases. Conclusions have been obtained through palaeobotanical studies, showing that in the Eocene-Oligocene period, southwest China and hainan Island had subtropical vegetation and flora. However, the fossil group in southeast China(in Maoming, near present-day hainan Island) in the Late Eocene indicated a tropical rainforest vegetation and flora. This suggests that in the Paleogene, hainan Island may have been located near or on the southwest border of Guangxi and northern Vietnam, rather than in its present location. The floristic division of the flora of hainan Island basically presents a northeast-southwest inclined distribution pattern. Rationally tailoring interface characteristics of ZnO/amorphous carbon/graphene for heat-conduction microwave absorbers

With the increasingly severe electromagnetic interference issue and the huge heat dissipation demand caused by the miniaturized and integrated electronic devices,exploring the heat-conduction microwave absorption(MA)materials is highly desired and remains a great ***,we reported the fabrication of ZnO/amorphous carbon(ZnO/AC)hybrid films covered on the surface of graphene(ZnO/AC/Graphene)to simultaneously apply as the MA and thermal management *** ZnO/AC coatings synthesized with the auxiliary of an atomic layer deposition(ALD)method are highly uniform and controllable,which can significantly improve the MA performance and thermal conduction properties of *** reflection loss(RL)of−55.4 dB and the effective absorption bandwidth of 5.3 GHz were achieved with thickness of 2.0 mm for ZnO/AC/Graphene at a low loading content(3 wt.%).The minimum RL of−57.9 dB can be obtained in the ZnO/AC/Graphene composites at a low frequency(7.8 GHz).Moreover,the absorption frequency can be regulated by changing the ZnO/AC which can be readily implemented by adjusting the ALD cycles of *** thermal conductivity of ZnO/AC/Graphene is up to 257.8 mW·m^(−1)·K^(−1),increased by 53.2%compared with natural *** enhancement mechanisms of microwave loss and heat conduction are systematically studied in *** work not only develops an excellent candidate,but also provides a novel strategy to design functional materials for heat-conduction MA application.

Photocatalytic activity of Lu^(3+)/TiO_2 prepared by ball milling method

Ball milling method was applied to prepare Lu^3＋/TiO2 photocatalysts. The catalysts were characterized with X-ray powder diffraction（XRD）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）, UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectra（UV-vis DRS）, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer（EDS）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller（BET） method. The photocatalytic activities were determined by the degradation of methylene blue（MB） equipped with a 300 W medium pressure mercury lamp. Results show that the first order reaction rate constants of Lu^3＋/TiO2 and pure TiO2 are0.0565 and 0.0263 min-1, respectively, which both were evaluated under the condition of catalysts loading of 0.2 g/L,initial concentration of 25 mg/L for MB, mole ratio of Lu^3＋/TiO2 of 1.5% and milling time of 4 h. The average crystal sizes of 1.5 mol% Lu^3＋/TiO2 and pure TiO2 are 18.7 and 19.3 nm, respectively.

An image joint compression-encryption algorithm based on adaptive arithmetic coding

Through a series of studies on arithmetic coding and arithmetic encryption, a novel image joint compression- encryption algorithm based on adaptive arithmetic coding is proposed. The contexts produced in the process of image compression are modified by keys in order to achieve image joint compression encryption. Combined with the bit-plane coding technique, the discrete wavelet transform coefficients in different resolutions can be encrypted respectively with different keys, so that the resolution selective encryption is realized to meet different application needs. Zero-tree coding is improved, and adaptive arithmetic coding is introduced. Then, the proposed joint compression-encryption algorithm is simulated. The simulation results show that as long as the parameters are selected appropriately, the compression efficiency of proposed image joint compression-encryption algorithm is basically identical to that of the original image compression algorithm, and the security of the proposed algorithm is better than the joint encryption algorithm based on interval splitting.
