Natural astaxanthin enhanced antioxidant capacity and improved semen quality through the MAPK/Nrf2 pathway in aging layer breeder roosters

Background:Natural astaxanthin(ASTA)has strong antioxidant properties and has been widely used as a health product to improve human ***,the effects of ASTA on the reproductive performance of aging roosters have been poorly *** aimed to investigate the effects of dietary ASTA on semen quality and antioxidant capacity in aging roosters and to explore the potential mechanism of semen quality change via antioxidation defense ***:In the present study,9653-week-old Jinghong No.1 layer breeder roosters were fed a corn-soybean meal basal diet containing 0,25,50,or 100 mg/kg ASTA for 6 ***:Semen quality in the ASTA groups remarkably improved than that in the control group,and antioxidant activities,the abilities to scavenge hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anions,increased gradually with ASTA addition(Pddition,the mrNA levels of antioxidant enzymes as well as the mrNA and protein levels of the mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)were markedly increased in the 50-100 mg/kg ASTA group(Presults demonstrate that dietary ASTA may improve semen quality by increasing antioxidant enzyme activities and the ability to scavenge hydroxyl radicals,which may be related to upregulation of the MAPK/Nrf2 pathway.

Thefilter-x least mean square(FxLMS)algorithm is widely used in active noise control(ANC)***,because the algorithm is a feedback control algorithm based on the minimization of the error signal variance to update thefilter coefficients,it has a certain delay,usually has a slow convergence speed,and the system response time is long and easily affected by the learning rate leading to the lack of system stability,which often fails to achieve the desired control effect in *** this paper,we propose an active control algorithm with near-est-neighbor trap structure and neural network feedback mechanism to reduce the coefficient update time of the FxLMS algorithm and use the neural network feedback mechanism to realize the parameter update,which is called NNr-BPFxLMS *** the paper,the schematic diagram of the feedback control is given,and the performance of the algorithm is *** various noise conditions,it is shown by simulation and experiment that the NNr-BPFxLMS algorithm has the following three advantages:in terms of performance,it has higher noise reduction under the same number of sampling points,i.e.,it has faster convergence speed,and by computer simulation and sound pipe experiment,for simple ideal line spectrum noise,compared with the convergence speed of NNr-BPFxLMS is improved by more than 95%compared with FxLMS algorithm,and the convergence speed of real noise is also improved by more than 70%.In terms of stability,NNr-BPFxLMS is insensitive to step size *** terms of tracking performance,its algorithm responds quickly to sudden changes in the noise spectrum and can cope with the complex control requirements of sudden changes in the noise spectrum.

Effect of the gene silencing of phosphorus transporters on phosphorus absorption across primary cultured duodenal epithelial cell monolayers of chick embryos

The aim of the study was to investigate whether phosphorus(P) transporters, type IIb sodium-dependent phosphate cotransporter(NaP-IIb) and inorganic phosphate transporter 2(PiT2), were directly involved in P absorption across primary cultured duodenal epithelial cell monolayers of chick embryos. The sirNAs against NaP-IIb or PiT2 were designed, synthesized and transfected into primary cultured duodenal epithelial cells of chick embryos. Then, the inhibitory efficiency of sirNAs against NaP-IIb or PiT2 was analyzed, and the most efficacious sirNAs were selected to be used for subsequent P absorption experiments. Briefly, primary cultured duodenal epithelial cells of chick embryos were transfected with either NaP-IIb or PiT2 sirNAs and grown in confluent monolayers on transwell plates. The untransfected or transfected cell monolayers were then incubated in an uptake medium containing 0 or 0.25 mmol L^(–1) of P as KH_(2) PO_(4) to measure the P absorption across duodenal epithelial cell monolayers. The results showed that among the sirNAs designed, si-1372 and si-890 were demonstrated to be the most effective in inhibiting the NaPIIb and PiT2 expressions, respectively. Supplemental P increased(P=0.065) the protein abundance of PiT2 and enhanced(Prption in primary cultured duodenal epithelial cell of chick embryos. Furthermore, NaPIIb silencing decreased(P=0.07) P absorption across duodenal epithelial cell monolayers, while PiT2 silencing had no effect(P=0.345). It is concluded that the NaP-IIb, but not PiT2, might be directly involved in the P absorption of chick duodenal epithelial cells.

BACKGrOUNd Complicated crown-root fracture is considered a severe dental trauma and is unlikely to heal without ***,dentists have to remove the loose coronal fragment of the fractured tooth and treat the remaining part with multidisciplinary ***,we observed spontaneous healing of fracture in two pediatric cases with a history of complicated crown-root fractures over 4 years *** SUMMArY In case 1,a 12-year-old boy complained of pain at tooth 11 following an accidental fall 1 d *** examination showed a crack line on the crown of tooth *** beam computed tomography(CBCT)images of tooth 11 showed signs of hard tissue deposition between the fractured *** patient recalled that tooth 11 had struck the floor 1 year ago without seeking any other *** case 2,a 10-year-old girl fell down 1 d ago and wanted to have her teeth *** examination showed a fracture line on the crown of tooth *** images of tooth 21 also showed signs of hard tissue deposition between the fractured *** also had a history of dental trauma 1 year ago and her tooth 11 received dental treatment by another *** to her periapical radiograph at that time,tooth 21 was fractured 1 year ago and the fracture was overlooked by her *** of these two cases showed spontaneous healing of complicated crown-root *** over 4 years of follow-up,both fractured teeth showed no signs of *** These findings may provide new insights and perspectives on the management and treatment of crown-root fractures in children.

Selectively converting CO_(2) to HCOOH on Cu-alloys integrated in hematite-driven artificial photosynthetic cells

The integration of electrochemical CO_(2)reduction(CO_(2)rr) and photoelectrochemical water oxidation offers a sustainable access to valuable chemicals and fuels. Here, we develop a rapidly annealed hematite photoanode with a photocurrent density of 2.83 mA cm^(-2)at 1.7 VrHEto drive the full-reaction. We also present Cu-alloys electrocatalysis extended from CuInSnS4, which are superior in both activity and selectivity for CO_(2)rr. Specifically, the screened CuInSn achieves a CO_(2)to HCOOH Faradaic efficiency of 93% at a cell voltage of-2.0 V by assembling into artificial photosynthesis cell. The stability test of IT exhibits less than 3% degradation over 24 h. Furthermore, in-situ raman spectroscopy reveals that both CO_(3)^(-2)and CO_(2)are involved in CO_(2)rr as reactants. The preferential affinity of C for H in the ^(*)HCO_(2)intermediate enables an improved HCOOH-selectivity, highlighting the role of multifunctional Cu in reducing the cell voltage and enhancing the photocurrent density.

Improved Staggered Algorithm for Phase-Field Brittle Fracture with the Local Arc-Length Method

The local arc-length method is employed to control the incremental loading procedure for phase-field brittle fracture *** improved staggered algorithm with energy and damage iterative tolerance convergence criteria is developed based on the residuals of displacement and *** improved staggered solution scheme is implemented in the commercial software ABAQUS with user-defined element *** layered system of finite elements is utilized to solve the coupled elastic displacement and phase-field fracture problem.A one-element benchmark test compared with the analytical solution was conducted to validate the feasibility and accuracy of the developed *** study shows that the result calculated with the developed method does not depend on the selected size of loading *** results of several numerical experiments show that the improved staggered algorithm is efficient for solving the more complex brittle fracture problems.

UV light absorbers executing synergistic effects of passivating defects and improving photostability for efficient perovskite photovoltaics

Metal halide perovskite-based solar cells(PSCs) have rapidly-increased power conversion efficiency(PCE)exceeding 25% but poor stability especially under ultraviolet(UV) light. Meanwhile, non-radiative recombination caused by diverse defects in perovskite absorbers and related interfaces is one of the major factors confining further development of PSCs. In this study, we systematically investigate the role of 2-(2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)benzotriazole(UVP) additive in perovskite layers. By adjusting the amount of doped UVP, the quality of perovskite absorbers is significantly improved with enlarged grains, longer lifetime and diffusion length of charge carriers. Furthermore, UVP not only reduces defects for less nonradiative recombination, but also matches energy level alignment for efficient interfacial charge extraction. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirms that N-donor of UVP molecule coordinates with undercoordinated Pb^(2+) on the surface. Interestingly, UVP incorporated in PbI_(2) protects the perovskite by absorbing UV through the opening and closing of the chelating ring. Eventually, the UVP treated PSCs obtain a champion PCE of 22.46% with remarkably enhanced UV stability, retaining over 90% of initial PCE after 60 m W/cm^(2) strong UV irradiation for 9 h while the control maintaining only 74%. These results demonstrate a promising strategy fabricating passivated and UV-resistant perovskite materials simultaneously for efficient and stable perovskite photovoltaics.
