Xiashu loess strata are widely distributed along the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River in East China with the stratum near nanjing,Jiangsu Province being *** cyclic variability of the stratum was investigated through comparison of geological features,chemical composition,and swelling-shrinkage properties between the loess and the paleosol *** on the investigation of such a cyclic variability,soil behavior associated with the unsaturated state of the Xiashu loess stratum and its usefulness for geotechnical design and construction in the nanjing area was analyzed. The stratum consisted of two types of cyclically alternating soil layers,namely the loess and the paleosol layers,which was the major cause for its cyclic *** loess and the paleosol layers were formed in different sedimentary *** order to avoid detrimental results from the differential engineering properties between them,this study suggested for the practitioners the importance of inspecting the variation of water content and controlling the downward net fluxes during geotechnical construction in the nanjing area.

Objective To evaluate levels of lead(Pb) and cadmium(Cd) in the breast milk in the second postpartum month,to investigate the relationship between Pb/Cd levels in breast milk and some sociodemographic parameters,and to explore whether these levels affect the infants' physical status or the mothers' psychological status(postpartum depression).Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted between November 2009 and December *** 170 healthy mothers were enrolled from nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care *** inclusion criteria were:voluntary to participate in this study,healthy,with no chronic disease,breastfeeding in the second postpartum month,living in a suburban but not non-industrial area of nanjing,and not occupationally exposed to toxic *** the mothers completed a questionnaire and were evaluated based on the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale(EPDS) to identify the risk of postpartum *** and Cd levels in breast milk were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass *** infants of these mothers were examined for their z scores of weight for age,length for age,head circumference for age,and body mass index for *** The median breast milk levels of Pb and Cd were 40.6 μg/L and 0.67 μg/L,*** 164(96.5%) of the 170 samples,Pb levels were higher than the limit reported by the World Health Organization(> 5 μg/L).Breast milk Cd level was > 1 μg/L in 54(31.8%) *** mothers with a history of anemia had a higher breast milk Pb level than those without a history of anemia(41.1 μg/L vs.37.9 μg/L,P = 0.050).The median breast milk Cd level in those who were active and passive smokers during pregnancy was significantly higher than that in non-smokers(0.88 μg/L vs.0.00 μg/L,P = 0.025).The breast milk Cd level in the mothers not taking iron and vitamin supplements for 2 months postpartum was higher than in those taking the supplements(iron supplement:0.74 μg/L vs.0.00 μg/L,P = 0.025;vitamin supplemen

Blood Lead Levels During Pregnancy and Its Influencing Factors in nanjing,China

Objective To investigate the blood lead levels （BLLs） in the duration of pregnancy and 6-12 weeks after delivery, and analyze the influencing factors of BLLs in healthy pregnant women. Methods Pregnant women were recruited from September 2009 to February 2010 at the prenatal clinic in nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital. Altogether 174 healthy pregnant women without pregnant or obstetric complications or abnormal pregnancy outcomes were enrolled as the gravida group, and 120 healthy non-pregnant women as the control group. BLLs during pregnancy were determined by flame atomic absorption spectroscopy. Results BLLs in all the three pregnancy trimesters and postpartum were 59.8±24.3, 55.4±20.1, 55.9±19.7, and 67.6±17.4 μ/L, respectively, and the mean BLL in control group was 67.5±21.3 μg/L. BLLs during all the three trimesters were lower in the gravida group than in the control group （P=0.043, 0.021, and 0.028）. Furthermore, occupations, nutrients supplementation, and time of house/apartment painted were associated with BLLs in pregnant women. Lead-related occupations, cosmetics use, and living in a house painted less than 1 year before are risk factors of high BLLs among pregnant women, while calcium, iron, zinc, and milk supplements are protective factors. Conclusion Supplementing calcium, iron, zinc, and milk, or avoiding contact with risk factors may help people, especially pregnant women, to reduce lead exposure.

Integrated transportation and land use studies are of major interest to planners because they consider the interaction between transportation development and land use change. Quantifying the impact of transport infrastructure on land use change is necessary for evaluating the role of transportation development in the process of land use and land cover change in the urban-rural fringe. Taking Qixia District of nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, China as a typical urban-rural fringe area, this paper analyzes the patterns and charac- teristics of land use change along three major transportation arteries using land use data from 2000 and 2008. We examine the spatial differentiation and gradient of land use pattern around railway, expressway, and highway corridors to investigate whether land use change in the urban-rural fringe is related to distance from transportation arteries and to clarify the varying impacts of different forms of transport infrastructure on land use patterns. We find that construction land generally tends to be located close to major transportation arteries, and that railways have the most obvious influence on land use change in the urban-rural fringe, while the impact of expressways was not significant. We conclude that there exists a causal relationship between the presence of transportation arteries and land use change in the urban-rural fringe, but this relationship varies across different types of linear transnort infrastrncnlre.

Based on the connotation of urban resilience and the main contradictions of China's urbanization,urban resilience is placed within the main daily activities contradictory scene of the urban man-land system to build a theoretical framework of urban activity *** on geographic big data,this study identifies the spatial characteristics of activity resilience,reveals the impact of activity environment on activity resilience in nanjing,and proposes *** main conclusions are as follows.1)Activity resilience presents a composite spatial structure of circles and clusters,and most areas are resilient but at a low level.2)There are significantly positive and negative global autocorrelation between activity resilience and activity scale,and activity ***,there also exists a local spatial autocorrelation with the opposite positive and negative trends.3)Activity environment has a significant effect on activity resilience,and the degree and direction of influence among different dimensions and regions are heterogeneous.4)For activity resilience,it is necessary to increase the matching degree between the scale and stability of activities,and reduce the excessive concentration and flow of *** the activity environment,it is necessary to improve the accessibility of the ecological environment,strengthen the high-quality supply of the infrastructure environment,optimize the balance of the location environment,and promote the inclusiveness of the social environment.

Super Rice Cropping Will Enhance Rice Yield and Reduce CH_4 Emission:A Case Study in nanjing,China

A pot experiment was performed to learn the differences in plant productivity and OH4 emission between two rice cultivars, super rice variety Ningjing 1 and traditional variety Zhendao 11, which were currently commercially appUed in nanjing, China. Similar seasonal changes of CH4 emission fluxes and soil solution CH4 contents were found between the tested cultivars. Although there was no significant difference in plant biomass production between the cultivars, the grain yield of Ningjing 1 was significantly higher by 35.0% （P 〈 0.05） than that of Zhendao 11, whereas the total CH4 emission from Ningjing 1 was 35.2% lower （P 〈 0.05）. The main difference in the amounts of CH4 emission between the cultivars occurred in the period from the tillering stage to the heading stage. The biomass-scaled and yield-scaled CH4 emissions were respectively 3.8 and 5.2 mg/g for Ningjing 1, significantly lower than those for Zhendao 11 （7.4 and 12.8 mg/g, respectively）. According to the relationships between the plant growth characteristics and the CH4 emission, a stronger root system contributed mainly to the lower CH4 emission of Ningjing 1, as compared with Zhendao 11. Our results demonstrated that super rice has advantages not only in grain productivity but also in CH4 emission mitigation. Further expansion of super rice cropping will enhance rice yield and reduce greenhouse gas emission in China.

Psychosis has increasingly become a social problem,emphasizing the need to understand the relationship between mental disorders and *** study aimed to investigate the relationship between mental disorders and personality among psychiatric outpatients based on real-world *** Checklist 90(SCL-90)and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)were used to evaluate the personality and psychopathological symptoms of patients(n=8409)in the Psychiatric Outpatient Department at nanjing Drum Tower Hospital.t-test was used to compare scores between patients and national ***’s correlation coefﬁcient and path analysis were used to explore the relationship between mental health status and *** correlation coefﬁcient between the neuroticism(N)score and each factor score of the SCL-90 test,as well as the correlation between psychoticism(P)and hostility and paranoia,exceeded *** analysis revealed that the standardized path coefﬁcients of N score and SCL-90 were all higher than *** addition,the standardized path coefﬁcient of hostility and paranoia on P score were 0.313 and 0.280,*** sensitivity,depression and obsessive-compulsive symptoms were affected by extraversion(E)score,with standardized path coefﬁcients of-0.149,-0.138,and-0.105,*** path analysis also showed the direct and indirect effects of age,gender,education,and marital status on *** characterized as melancholic had higher scores in all factors of *** conclusion,mental health was related to personality traits of neuroticism,psychoticism and introversion.

Background:This study aimed to investigate the potential variance in the prevalence of early‐onset scoliosis among children aged 4–7 years and analyze the influencing *** goal was to establish a crucial reference point for monitoring and evaluating spinal curvature development in preschoolers,ultimately to reduce the occurrence of adverse health ***:Children aged 4–7 years within the main urban area of nanjing were selected using a stratified random sampling method.A team of four senior therapists conducted screenings for spinal curvature among children using visual inspection,the Adams forward bending test,and an electronic scoliometer to measure the angle of trunk rotation(ATR)and identify children displaying signs of *** with suspected scoliosis in the initial screening underwent X‐ray Cobb angle assessment for *** prevalence of early‐onset scoliosis was then determined from the screening results.R version 4.2.0 software was used to analyze the factors associated with scoliosis among children using partial least squares structural equation ***:A total of 2281 children were included in this study,consisting of 1211 boys and 1070 girls,with a mean age of 5.44±0.81 years(ranging from 4 to 7 years).Among them,7.58%exhibited positive signs of scoliosis,5.87%had early‐onset scoliosis,and the positive predictive value was 77.5%.Significant differences in ATR were observed among children in different age groups(Kruskal–Wallis=15,p=0.0104)and by sex(t=3.17,p=0.00153).Significant variations in ATR were noted in children with scoliosis(t=−22.7,p<0.001),with a cutoff at ATR=4.5°,and auxiliary values of 0.947 and *** diagnosed with early‐onset scoliosis generally exhibited lower body mass index values,with a statistically significant difference(t=2.99,p=0.003).Conclusions:Using visual inspection,the Adams test,and an electronic scoliometer to measure the ATR,the present triad method is more sensitive for

It is the major purpose of the paper to present the urban land-banking planning and its functions of promoting the urban land-banking system and land use *** urban land-banking system has the potential attribute of acting as an irreplaceable role in urban land administration,but its unexpected function-deviation has impacted its implementation effect in China.A few city governments are attempting to deal with the problem by the urban land-banking planning which is expected to contribute to the extension of urban function,optimization of urban patterns,promotion of urban core competitiveness and overall construction of the urban value *** this paper,we primarily discuss the necessity,functions,purposes and main contents of the urban land-banking ***,the implementing situation of the urban land-banking system in Nan- jing is analyzed,including its integrated mode,spatio-temporal quantitative distribution and main ***,the background and targets including total,compositions,space,and regulation points are gradually introduced to present the nanjing land-banking planning version 2.

Background and Aims:Hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome(HSOS)is caused by toxic injury to sinusoidal endothelial cells in the *** intake of pyrrolizidine alkaloids(PAs)in some Chinese herbal remedies/plants remains the major etiology for HSOS in ***,new diagnostic criteria for PA-induced HSOS(***-HSOS)have been developed;however,the efficacy has not been clinically *** study aimed to assess the performance of the nanjing criteria for ***:Data obtained from consecutive patients in multiple hospitals,which included 86 PA-HSOS patients and 327 patients with other liver diseases,were retrospectively ***,the diagnostic performance of the nanjing criteria and simplified nanjing criteria were evaluated and *** study is registered in ***(ID:ChiCTR1900020784).Results:The nanjing criteria have a sensitivity and specificity of 95.35%and 100%,respectively,while the simplified nanjing criteria have a sensitivity and specificity of 96.51%and 96.33%,respectively,for the diagnosis of ***,a proportion of patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome(11/49)was misdiagnosed as PA-HSOS on the basis of the simplified nanjing criteria,and this was mainly due to the overlapping features in the enhanced computed tomography/magnetic resonance imaging ***,most of these patients(10/11)had occlusion or thrombosis of the hepatic vein,and communicating vessels in the liver were found in 8/11 patients,which were absent in PA-HSOS ***:The nanjing criteria and simplified nanjing criteria exhibit excellent performance in diagnosing ***,both could be valuable diagnostic tools in clinical practice.
