Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nano-particle is widely used in composite materials to its improved mechanical ***2 nano-particle was used in the composite material that consists of palm oil sludge from the palm oil production and activated sludge cake from a papermaking ***2 was synthesized by a hydrolysis of titanium *** parameter was investigated by the mole ratio of reactant to different solvents (isopropanol and isobutanol).The solution was prepared by adjusting pH to acid solution,resulting in different sizes and distributions of precipitate which was heated at different *** obtained samples were then morphologically and structurally characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and particle size distribution (PSD).The experimental results show that the TiO2 sample from isopropanol solvent with heated temperature of 600 °C exhibits the best ***,different mass fractions of TiO2 (0,0.5%,1.0%,2.0%,4.0% and 8.0%) were used for specimens that were made from palm oil sludge mixed with activated sludge *** samples were later characterized by 3-point bending test and compression *** results indicate that the adding 0.5% and 1.0% TiO2 particles to the composite material outperforms the other fractions in terms of enhancing mechanical ***,mechanical properties tends to decrease when adding 2.0% TiO2.

Moisture content is an important trait for rubber sheet trading ***,a calibrationequation for predicting moisture content was created by near infrared(NIR)technique in order todevelop a more fair trading system in *** were recorded in two *** wasmeasurement on each rubber sheet and the other was on a pile of *** were[measured by ahandheld NIR spectrometer in the short wavelength region(700-1100 nm)in the transflectancemode using Teflon as a diffuse *** spectra showed the peak at about 900 nm whichbelongs to isoprene,the major component of rubber *** with second derivativewas applied to remove baseline shift effect occurring due to thickness differences on each rubber *** validation results,moisture contents predicted by single sheet system were moreaccurate than a pile of sheet system with standard error of prediction(SEP)=0.39 %and bias of-0.07%,and they were not significantly diferent from the actual values at 95%*** aresult,determining moisture content in each rubber sheet by a handheld NIR,spectrometerprovided accurate values,easy and rapid operation.

Inappropriate use of antibiotics is globally creating public health hazards associated with antibiotic *** often acquire antibiotic resistance by altering their genes through mutation or acquisition of plasmid-encoding resistance *** treat drug-resistant strains of bacteria,the recently developed CRISPR-Cas9 system might be an alternative molecular tool to conventional *** disables antibiotic-resistance genes(plasmids)or deactivates bacterial virulence factors and sensitizes drug-resistant bacteria through site-specific cleavage of crucial domains of their *** molecular tool uses phages as vehicles for CRISPR-cas9 delivery into *** phages are species-specific and natural predators of bacteria,they are capable of easily injecting their DNA to target *** CRISPR system is packaged into phagemid vectors,in such a way that the bacteria containing the antibiotic-resistance plasmid sequence or that containing specific DNA sequences were made to be *** CRISPR delivery,Cas9 is programmed to recognize target sequences through the guide RNA thereby causing double-strand cleavage of targeted bacterial DNA or loss of drug resistance plasmid,which results in cell ***,the safety and efficacy of this newly developed biotechnology tool and the biocontrol product need to be further refined for its usage in clinical translation.

Kinetics of Ligand-Controlled Release of Zinc in Acid Sulfate Paddy Soils

The elevated solubility of zinc(Zn) in acid sulfate paddy soils can limit rice production and pose a risk of environmental ***, little attention has been paid to the ligand-controlled release of Zn in these soils. Here we quantified the rate of ligandcontrolled Zn release in Thai acid sulfate paddy soils, using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid as the extractant. Sequential extractions were performed to obtain quantitative information on Zn fractions contributing to the ligand-controlled mechanisms. The amount of Zn released within 192 h varied significantly(8–43 mg kg^(-1)), which corresponded to 12%–40% of the total soil Zn, indicating that Zn solubility in most soils was relatively low and that Zn mainly occurred as residual phases. The kinetics of Zn release was well described by the power function model(r = 0.65–0.99, median = 0.87). The magnitude of initial Zn release(coefficient a) was significantly(P < 0.05) related to the aqua regia-soluble Zn. Easily mobile Zn, organically bound Zn, and Zn associated with Fe and Mn oxides also contributed to the ligand-controlled release mechanisms to various degrees. Our results provide a systematic understanding of Zn fractions and release from acid sulfate paddy soils, the dynamics of which have a significant influence on the availability, phytoextraction, and mobility of Zn in terrestrial and engineered environments.

Multidrug resistance(MDR)problems become critical concerns in animal production through food chains and the ***,the cross-sectional study of *** in swine feces,drinking water,and wastewater collected on four medium and four large swine farms in Thailand was *** orders of antibiotics used were AMX-COL-GM-TIL and AMX-COL-GM-CER on medium-sized and large swine farms,*** ***(HEC)was more frequently isolated from all samples than Non-hemolytic ***(NHEC).The medium-sized farms were resistant to AMP,AMX,TE,and C,while large farms were resistant to AMP,AMX,TE,and *** two sensitive antibiotics,namely AK and TE,were available on both farms,whereas,banned NT was still detected in the *** MDR of *** isolates was 95.7%and 87.7%on medium-sized and large swine farms,while the highest resistance found was 15 drugs used for NHEC on medium-sized swine *** PFGE molecular typing revealed the largest cluster containing five isolations,correlated with drinking water,sow,and fattening isolates;however,the phenotypic and genotypic were not in a similar *** most seriously MDR related to HEC was found in the piglets,effluent,and ***,the AMR and MDR of *** existence in medium-sized and large swine farms in this *** of *** was substantially found in the environmental,including effluent and ***,it inevitably operates the long-term monitoring of AMR,especially targeted piglets and its environment as the main focus of critical antibiotics use in swine farms.

The relative locations of AOB,NOB,and DNB were examined for three different kinds of carriers in two types of hybrid bioflm process configurations:integrated fixed-film activated sludge(IFAS)and moving bed bioflm reactor(MBBR)*** water resource recovery facilities(WRRFs)used Anodkainess^TM K1 carriers(KC)at Broomfield,Colorado,USA and polypropylene resin crriers(R)at Fukuok,Japa,whic MBBR WRFS used KC crier at South Adams Couty,Colorado,USA and sponge carriers(SC)at Saga,*** COD to N ratios ranged from 8:1 to 15:*** COD and BOD removal efficiencies were high(96%-98%);NH^+4-N and TN removal efficiencies were more varied at 72%98%and 64%-77%,*** extent of TN removal was higher at high SRT,high COD:N ratio and low DO concentration in the anoxic *** IFAS,RC with high specific surface area.(SSA)maintained higher AOB population than *** carriers with high SSA maintained higher overall bacteria population than KC in MBBR ***,the DNB were not more abundant in high SSA *** diversity of AOB,NOB,and DNB was fairly similar in different *** *** over Nitrosospira *** denitrifying bacteria included Rhodobacter sp.,Sulfuritalea sp.,.Rubrivivax sp:Paracoccus sp..and Pseudomonas *** results from this work suggest that high SRT,***:N ratio,low DO concentration in anoxic tanks,and carriers with greater surface area may be recommended for high COD,BOD and TN removal in WRRFs with IFAS and MBBR systerms.

Dry rubber content(DRC)is an important factor to be considered in evaluating the quality of cup lump *** DRC analysis requires prolonged laboratory *** develop fast and effective DRC determination methods,this study proposed methods to evaluate the DRC of cup lump rubber using different spectroscopic measurement *** involved a complete fundamental analysis leading to an efficient measurement method based on either point-based measurement using NIR reflectance spectrometer or area-based measurement using hyperspectral imaging.A dataset was prepared that 120 samples were randomly divided into a calibration set of 90 samples and a validation set of 30 *** obtain an average spectrum to represent a cup lump rubber sample,the spectral data were collected by locating and scanning for point-based and area-based measurement,*** spectral data were calibrated using partial least squares regression(PLSR)and the least-squares support vector machine(LS-SVM)methods against the reference *** experiments showed that the area-based measurement approach with both algorithms performed outstandingly in predicting the DRC of cup lump rubber and was clearly better than the point-based measurement *** best predictions of PLSR represented by the coefficient of determination(R2),the root mean square error of prediction(RMSEP)and the residual predictive deviation(RPD)were 0.99,0.72%and 15.17,while the best prediction of LS-SVM were 0.99,0.64%and 16.83,*** summary,the area-based measurement based on the LS-SVM prediction model provided a highly accurate estimate of the DRC of cup lump rubber.

Energy efficiency in the petrochemical industry is crucial in reducing energy consumption and environmental *** accurate energy efficiency model will provide valuable insight for supporting operational adjustment *** practice,due to inconsistent sampling intervals in the petrochemical industry,the traditional approach for obtaining energy efficiency may be unreliable and difficult to handle these multirate data ***,in this paper,a multi-channel convolutional neural network model integrating a model parameter-based transfer learning approach is proposed to improve the prediction of energy efficiency under inconsistent sampling *** multi-channel structure aims to recognize a different pattern from the dataset by convolving the information along the time ***,transfer learning allows the model to learn a new pattern of input after the model is fully ***,the performance for energy ef-ficiency prediction and saving analysis is validated by applying it to the vinyl chloride monomer production case *** result shows that the proposed model outperformed traditional models and typical convolutional neural network structures in terms of accuracy and reproducibility,with an r-square of *** utilization of transfer learning prevents a significant drop in performance and enhances adaptability in model learning on real-time energy ***,the energy gap analysis of the prediction result identified a significant energysaving potential,which would decrease annual energy consumption by 7.25%on average and a 5,709-ton reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.

Molecular Markers and Candidate Genes for Thermo-Sensitive Genic Male Sterile in Rice

The discovery of thermo-sensitive genic male sterility(TGMS) has led to development of a simple and highly efficient two-line breeding system. In this study, genetic analysis was conducted using three F_2 populations derived from crosses between IR68301 S, an indica TGMS rice line, and IR14632(tropical japonica), Supanburi 91062(indica) and IR67966-188-2-2-1(tropical japonica), *** 1:3 ratio between sterile and normal pollen of F_2 plants from the three populations revealed that TGMS is controlled by a single recessive gene. Bulked segregant analysis using simple sequence repeat(SSR) and insertion-deletion(InDel) markers were used to identify markers linked to the tms gene. The linkage analysis based on the three populations indicated that the tms locus was located on chromosome 2 covering the same area. Using IR68301S × IR14632 F_2 population, the results showed that the tms locus was located between SSR marker RM12676 and InDel marker 2gAP0050058. The genetic distance from the tms gene to these two flanking markers were 1.10 and 0.82 cM, *** marker 2gAP004045 located between these two markers showed complete co-segregation with the TGMS phenotype. In addition, InDel marker vf0206114052 showed 2.94 cM linked to the tms gene using F_2 populations of IR68301S × Supanburi 91062. These markers are useful tool for developing new TGMS lines by marker-assisted selection. There were ten genes located between the two flanking markers RM12676 and 2gAP0050058. Using quantitative real-time PCR for expression analysis, 7 of the 10 genes showed expression in panicles, and response to temperatures. These genes could be the candidate gene controlling TGMS in IR68301S.

Quantification of the adulteration concentration of palm kernel oil in virgin coconut oil using near-infrared hyperspectral imaging

The adulteration concentration of palm kernel oil(PKO)in virgin coconut oil(VCO)was quantified using near-infrared(NIR)hyperspectral ***,some VCO is adulterated with lower-priced PKO to reduce production costs,which diminishes the quality of the *** study used NIR hyperspectral imaging in the wavelength region 900-1,650 nm to create a quantitative model for the detection of PKO contaminants(0-100%)in VCO and to develop predictive *** prediction equation for the adulteration of VCO with PKO was constructed using the partial least squares regression *** best predictive model was pre-processed using the standard normal variate method,and the coefficient of determination of prediction was 0.991,the root mean square error of prediction was 2.93%,and the residual prediction deviation was *** results showed that this model could be applied for quantifying the adulteration concentration of PKO in *** prediction adulteration concentration mapping of VCO with PKO was created from a calibration model that showed the color level according to the adulteration concentration in the range of 0-100%.NIR hyperspectral imaging could be clearly used to quantify the adulteration of VCO with a color level map that provides a quick,accurate,and non-destructive detection method.
