Pre-conceptional and prenatal exposure to secondhand smoke and autism spectrum disorder:a national multi-center study in china

Background Despite extensive research evaluating the association between prenatal exposure to secondhand smoke(SHS)and the development of autism spectrum disorders(ASD),no study has investigated the association by considering the pre-conceptional period.This study aimed to investigate the associations of pre-conceptional and prenatal SHS exposure and the development of ASD among toddlers.Methods In this cross-sectional study,parents of 6049 toddlers aged 16–30 months were recruited from 7 tertiary hospitals,21 communities,and 7 kindergartens located in seven cities in six provinces from five geographical regions of china.We analyzed the associations of SHS exposure and the odds of ASD among toddlers in different exposure windows(pre-conceptional and/or prenatal periods).Data were analyzed from November 2021 to January 2022.Results Among the 6049 toddlers included in the analysis[22.7(4.1)months;44.8%girls],71 were identified and diagnosed with ASD.Compared with the unexposed toddlers,toddlers with pre-conceptional SHS exposure had higher odds of ASD(OR 2.30,95%CI 1.36–3.84),while we observed a non-significantly positive association regarding prenatal SHS exposure.When considering both pre-conceptional and prenatal periods,toddlers who were continuously exposed to SHS during these two periods had higher odds than those without SHS exposure(OR 2.32,95%CI 1.24–4.14).Conclusion We reported positive SHS–ASD associations when exposed during the pre-conceptional period and continuously exposed during pre-conceptional and prenatal periods,emphasizing the critical window of pre-conception for targeted intervention on smoking.

Background Tuberculosis(TB)continues to be prevalent in China .lso among children and adolescents in china.We built a dynamic mathematical model for TB transmission in china,and applied it to compare the epidemic trends 2021–2030 under a range of screening interventions focusing on children and adolescents.Methods We developed a dynamic mathematical model with a flexible structure.The model can be applied either stochastically or deterministically,and can encompass arbitrary age structure and resistance levels.In the present version,we used the deterministic version excluding resistance but including age structure with six groups:0–5,6–11,12–14,15–17,18–64,and 65 years and above.We parameterized the model by literature data and fitting it to case and death estimates provided by the World Health Organization.We compared the new TB cases and TB-related deaths in each age group over the period 2021–2030 in 10 scenarios that involved intensified screening of particular age groups of children,adolescents,or young adults,or decreased or increased diagnostic accuracy of the screening.Results Screening the entire age class of 18-year-old persons would prevent 517,000 TB cases and 14,600 TB-related deaths between years 2021 and 2030,corresponding to 6.6%and 5.5%decrease from the standard of care projection,respectively.Annual screening of children aged 6–11 and,to a lesser extent,0–5 years,also reduced TB incidence and mortality,particularly among children of the respective ages but also in other age groups.In contrast,intensified screening of adolescents did not have a major impact.Screening with a simpler and less accurate method resulted in worsened outcomes,which could not be offset by more intensive screening.More accurate screening and better sensitivity to detect latent TB could prevent 2.3 million TB cases and 68,500 TB deaths in the coming 10 years.Conclusion Routine screening in schools can efficiently reduce the burden of TB in china.Screening should be intensified particularly among children in primary school

Background Global connectivity and environmental change pose continuous threats to dengue invasions from worldwide to china.However,the intrinsic relationship on introduction and outbreak risks of dengue driven by the landscape features are still unknown.This study aimed to map the patterns on source-sink relation of dengue cases and assess the driving forces for dengue invasions in china.Methods We identified the local and imported cases(2006–2020)and assembled the datasets on environmental conditions.The vector auto-regression model was applied to detect the cross-relations of source-sink patterns.We selected the major environmental drivers via the Boruta algorithm to assess the driving forces in dengue outbreak dynamics by applying generalized additive models.We reconstructed the internal connections among imported cases,local cases,and external environmental drivers using the structural equation modeling.Results From 2006 to 2020,81,652 local dengue cases and 12,701 imported dengue cases in China .ere reported.The hotspots of dengue introductions and outbreaks were in southeast and southwest china,originating from South and Southeast Asia.Oversea-imported dengue cases,as the Granger-cause,were the initial driver of the dengue dynamic;the suitable local bio-socioecological environment is the fundamental factor for dengue epidemics.The Bio8[odds ratio(OR)=2.11,95%confidence interval(CI):1.67–2.68],Bio9(OR=291.62,95%CI:125.63–676.89),Bio15(OR=4.15,95%CI:3.30–5.24),normalized difference vegetation index in March(OR=1.27,95%CI:1.06–1.51)and July(OR=1.04,95%CI:1.00–1.07),and the imported cases are the major drivers of dengue local transmissions(OR=4.79,95%CI:4.34–5.28).The intermediary effect of an index on population and economic development to local cases via the path of imported cases was detected in the dengue dynamic system.Conclusions Dengue outbreaks in China .re triggered by introductions of imported cases and boosted by landscape features and connectivity.Our research will contribute to developing nature-b

Comprehensive evaluation of surface air temperature reanalysis over China .gainst urbanization-bias-adjusted observations

The reanalysis datasets (CRA40) have now been developed in China .eteorological Administration. We aim to compare the differences in surface air temperature (SAT) between observational that has been adjusted for urbanization bias and reanalysis data (NCEPV1, NCEPV2, ERA5, CFSR, MERRA, JRA55, 20CRV3 and CRA40) over china's Mainland during 1961–2015. The main results are presented as follows. The correlation and standard deviation between the reanalysis data and observations exhibit highly consistent interannual variability and dispersion, with the interannual SAT variability in JRA55 being closest to the observations for 1961–2015 and that of ERA5 for 1979–2015;the dispersions of 20CRV3 is most consistent with the observations for 1961–2015 and that of NCEPV1 for 1979–2015. Although annual mean SAT of the reanalysis is generally 0–2.0 ℃ lower than the observations, the bias in the SAT climatology of 20CRV3 is the least for 1961–2015 in all reanalysis datasets and that of CRA40 is the least for 1979–2015. The trends of NCEPV1 is closer to the observations than other reanalysis for 1961–2015 and that of 20CRV3 for 1979–2015. The biases in terms of interannual variability, dispersion, climatology, and linear trend are increase with altitude. Overall, in terms of the similarity of multiple measures to the urbanization bias-adjusted observations, JRA55 and CRA40 show the best performances for the periods 1961–2015 and 1979–2015 respectively in reproducing various aspects of climatological and climate change features in china's Mainland.

Anamorphic chaetosphaeriaceous fungi from china

Chaetosphaeriaceae is one of the largest families in Sordariomycetes with its members commonly found on decaying leaf,fruit,branch,bark and wood in both terrestrial and submerged environment in nature.This paper reports our research result of diversity,taxonomy and phylogeny of anamorphic Chaetosphaeriaceae in china,which is based on a systematic study with an integrated approach of morphological observation and phylogenetic analysis for a large collection(>1300 herbarium specimens and 1100 living strains).The family Chaetosphaeriaceae is expanded to accommodate 89 accepted genera,including 22 new genera and 10 newly assigned genera.Most of these genera(except for Chaetosphaeria and several other relatively large genera)are delimitated as monophyletic genera with well-defined diagnostic characters in morphology.The phylogenetic connection of non-phialidic Sporidesmium-like fungi is further confirmed and expanded to 10 different genera.The polyphyletic Codinaea/Dictyochaeta/Tainosphaeria complex is further resolved with a taxonomic framework of 28 monophyletic genera by redelimitation of Codinaea and Dictyochaeta with narrower concept,acceptance of the 16 established genera,and finally introduction of 10 new genera.Chloridium is phylogenetically redefined as monophyletic genus with narrower concept as typified by the type species,but a systematic review in both generic and species level is still needed.For biodiversity of chaetosphaeriaceous fungi,a total of 369 species in 76 genera,including 119 new species,47 new combinations,and one new name,are documented.The identification keys are provided for most genera,especially the large genera such as Codinaea s.str.,Codinaeella,Stilbochaeta,Cryptophiale,Thozetella,Dinemasporium and Pseudolachnella.In addition,ten known species were excluded from the family and reclassified.Systematic revision of several relatively large polyphyletic genera should be conducted in future studies,including Bahusutrabeeja,Ellisembia,Stanjehughesia,Cacumisporium,Chaetosphaeria,Chloridium,C
