We read with great interest the recent review of benign epilepsy with centro-temporal spikes (BECTS) and child-hood absence epilepsy (CAE) by Verrotti et al. (1)BECTS and CAE are the most common epilepsy syndromes in childhood and share certain clinical features: similar age at onset, overall good prognosis, and genetic predispo-sition. Several studies have reported the coexistence of the two syndromes, and recently, Verrotti et al. analyzed 19 cases reported to have clinical features of CAE and BECTS. Among the total 19 cases, three cases had fea-tures of both syndromes contemporarily;three cases expe-rienced absence seizures initially followed by BECTS;and the other 13 cases experienced BECTS at onset and had absence seizures later.

Numerical simulation of unsteady flow control over an oscillating NACA0012 airfoil is investigated. Flow actuation of a turbulent flow over the airfoil is provided by low current DC surface glow discharge plasma actuator which is analytically modeled as an ion pressure force produced in the cathode sheath region. The modeled plasma actuator has an induced pressure force of about 2 k Pa under a typical experiment condition and is placed on the airfoil surface at 0% chord length and/or at 10% chord length. The plasma actuator at deep-stall angles(from 5° to 25°) is able to slightly delay a dynamic stall and to weaken a pressure fluctuation in down-stroke motion. As a result, the wake region is reduced. The actuation effect varies with different plasma pulse frequencies, actuator locations and reduced frequencies. A lift coefficient can increase up to 70% by a selective operation of the plasma actuator with various plasma frequencies and locations as the angle of attack changes. Active flow control which is a key advantageous feature of the plasma actuator reveals that a dynamic stall phenomenon can be controlled by the surface plasma actuator with less power consumption if a careful control scheme of the plasma actuator is employed with the optimized plasma pulse frequency and actuator location corresponding to a dynamic change in reduced frequency.

Elucidation of a reaction mechanism is the most critical aspect for designing electrodes for highperformance secondary ***,we investigate the sodium insertion/extraction into an iron fluoride hydrate(FeF_(3)·0.5H_(2)O)electrode for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).The electrode material is prepared by employing an ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium-tetrafluoroborate,which serves as a reaction medium and precursor for F^(-)*** crystal structure of FeF_(3)·0.5H_(2)O is observed as pyrochlore type with large open 3-D tunnels and a unit cell volume of 1129A^(3).The morphology of FeF_(3)·0.5H_(2)O is spherical shape with a mesoporous *** microstructure analysis reveals primary particle size of around 10 *** FeF_(3)·0.5H_(2)O cathode exhibits stable discharge capacities of 158,210,and 284 mA h g^(-1) in three different potential ranges of 1.5-4.5,1.2-4.5,and 1.0-4.5 V,respectively at 0.05 C *** specific capacities remained stable in over 50 cycles in all three potential ranges,while the rate capability was best in the potential range of 1.5-4.5 *** electrochemical sodium storage mechanism is studied using X-ray absorption spectroscopy,indicating higher conversion at a more discharged ***-situ M?ssbauer spectroscopy strengthens the results for reversible reduction/oxidation of *** results will be favorable to establish high-performance cathode materials with selective voltage window for SIBs.

A simple and reproducible method to control the thickness of black phosphorus flakes in real time using a UV/ozone treatment is demonstrated. Back-gated black phosphorus field-effect transistors （FETs） were fabricated using thick black phosphorus flakes obtained by thinning of black phosphorus, as oxygen radicals generated by UV irradiation formed phosphorus oxides on the surface. In order to monitor the thickness effect on the electrical properties, the fabricated FETs were loaded in the UV/ozone chamber, where both the optical （micro-Raman spectroscopy and optical microscopy） and electrical properties （current-voltage characteristics） were monitored in situ. We observed an intensity decrease of the Raman modes of black phosphorus while the field-effect mobility and on/off ratio increased by 48% and 6,800%, respectively. The instability in ambient air limits the investigation and implementation of ultra-thin black phosphorus. However, the method reported in this study allowed us to start with thick black phosphorous flakes, providing a reliable approach for optimizing the electrical performance of black phosphorus-based electronic devices. We believe that these results can motivate further studies using mono- and few-layer black phosphorus.

Parking into small berths remains difficult for unskilled drivers. researchers had proposed different automatic parking systems to solve this problem. The first kind of strategies(called parking trajectory planning) designs a detailed reference trajectory that links the start and ending points of a special parking task and let the vehicle track this reference trajectory so as to park into the berth. The second kind of strategies(called guidance control) just characterizes several regimes of driving actions as well as the important switching points in certain rule style and let the vehicle follows the pre-selected series of actions so as to park into the berth. Parking guidance control is simpler than parking trajectory planning. However, no studies thoroughly validated parking guidance control before. In this paper, a new automatic parking method is presented, which could characterize the desired control actions directly. Then the feasibility is examined carefully. Tests show that a simple parking guidance control strategy can work in most parallel parking tasks, if the available parking berth is not too small. This finding helps to build more concise automatic parking systems that can efficiently guide human drivers.

A zwitterionic nanofiber film was constructed through combining zwitterionic polymer with anodic aluminum oxide template for anti-adhering typical marine corrosive microorganisms,*** aeruginosa,Desulfovibrio vulgaris and Chaetoceros *** showed that the fabricated zwitterionic polymers film has fibrous nanostructure with uniform distribution and super *** film has wide anti-adhering properties,and it can effectively reduce the attachment of these three microorganisms by more than 99%.Moreover,the adhesion of extracellular polymeric substances secreted from these three microorganisms are also inhibited,which is one reason for the fabricated nanofiber film with antiadhesion characteristic of *** research provides valuable information for solving the problem of microbial adhesion on metal surfaces in the marine environment.

Volume Estimation of Small Scale Debris Flows Based on Observations of Topographic Changes Using Airborne LiDAR DEMs

This paper describes a geographic information system(GIS)-based method for observing changes in topography caused by the initiation, transport, and deposition of debris flows using highresolution light detection and ranging(LiDAR) digital elevation models(DEMs) obtained before and after the debris flow events. The paper also describes a method for estimating the volume of debris flows using the differences between the LiDAR DEMs. The relative and absolute positioning accuracies of the LiDAR DEMs were evaluated using a real-time precise global navigation satellite system(GNSS) positioning method. In addition, longitudinal and cross-sectional profiles of the study area were constructed to determine the topographic changes caused by the debris flows. The volume of the debris flows was estimated based on the difference between the LiDAR DEMs. The accuracies of the relative and absolute positioning of the two LiDAR DEMs were determined to be ±10 cm and ±11 cm RMSE, respectively, which demonstrates the efficiency of the method for determining topographic changes at an scale equivalent to that of field investigations. Based on the topographic changes, the volume of the debris flows in the study area was estimated to be 3747 m3, which is comparable with the volume estimated based on the data from field investigations.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the dose-dependent impact of Asiasari Radix(A. radix) on the cell viability,differentiation and mineralization of stem cells derived from ***: Stem cells that were derived from gingiva were grown in the presence of A. radix at final concentrations that ranged from 0.001 to 10 μg/m L. The morphology of the cells was viewed under an inverted microscope and the analysis of cell proliferation was performed by using Cell Counting Kit-8(CCK-8) on day 1. The alkaline phosphatase activity test was used to assess differentiation and Alizarin red S staining was used to assess mineralization of treated ***: The control group showed spindleshaped, fibroblast-like morphology and the shapesof the cells in 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1 and 10 μg/mL of *** were similar to that of the control group at day 1. The cultures growing in the presence of0.001 μg/m L of A. radix at day 1 showed an increase in the CCK-8 value(P 0.05). Mineralized extracellular deposits were observed after Alizarin Red S staining and the cultures grown in the presence of 0.001 μg/m L of A. radix showed the highest value for quantitative results for bound dye(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Within the limits of this study, A. radix influenced the proliferation of stem cells derived from the gingiva and low concentrations of *** might enhance osteogenic differentiation of the stem cells.
