A resistivity gradient actuator based on lead zirconate titanate ceramics was successfully developed and the bending deflections up to 140 μm were obtained. The actuator material was a matrix of PZT ceramic into which smooth gradient of piezoelectric activity was introduced. The application of an electric field then causes the actuator to bend due to differential strains induced by the piezoelectric effect. The resistivity gradient of the actuator was achieved by doping PZT with suitable donor and acceptor dopants. PZT powder was modified and synthesized by using two stage powder fabrication method. The actuator was fabricated by uniaxial pressing followedby isostatic pressing with two layers of different resistivities.

Aim:To observe the effects of stearic acid against oxidative stress in primarycultured cortical ***:Cortical neurons were exposed to glutamate,hydrogen peroxide（H2O2）,or NaN3insult in the presence or absence of *** viability of cortical neurons was determined by MTT assay and *** antioxidant enzymes activity[superoxide dismutases（SOD）,glutathione peroxidase（GSH-Px）,and catalase（CAT）] and lipid peroxidation incultured cortical neurons were evaluated using commercial kits.{3-[l（p-chloro-benzyl）-5-（isopropyl）-3-t-butylthiondol-2-yl]-2,2-dimethylpropanoic acid,Na}[MK886;5 μmol/L;a noncompetitive inhibitor of proliferator-activated receptor（PPAR）α],bisphenol A diglycidyl ether（BADGE;100 μmol/L;an antagonist ofPPARγ）,and cycloheximide（CHX;30 μmol/L,an inhibitor of protein synthesis）were tested for their effects on the neuroprotection afforded by stearic *** blotting was used to determine the PPARγprotein level in cortical ***:Stearic acid dose-dependently protected cortical neurons againstglutamate or H202 injury and increased glutamate uptake in cultured *** protection was concomitant to the inhibition of lipid peroxidation and to thepromotion activity of Cu/Zn SOD and CAT in cultured cortical *** effects were completely blocked by BADGE and *** with H202 for 24 h,the expression of the PPARγprotein decreasedsignificantly（P<0.05）,and the inhibitory effect of H2O2on the expression of PPARγcan be attenuated by stearic ***:Stearic acid can protect corticalneurons against oxidative stress by boosting the internal antioxidant *** neuroprotective effect may be mainly mediated by the activation of PPARγandnew protein synthesis in cortical neurons.

Aim:To prepare a novel transdermal preparation of liposomal brucine （LB） andinvestigate its pharmaceutical/pharmacodynamic ***:LBwas prepared by a modified ethanol-dripping *** drug encapsulationefficiency （EE）,particle size,in vitro release,and skin permeation were ***,a safety evaluation and pharmacodynamic analysis of LB,includingacute dermal toxicity,skin irritation,and analgesic and anti-inflammatory effectswere ***:the EE of LB was 72% and the mean particle size ofthe liposomes was 55.4 *** in vitro release profile indicated that less than68% of the encapsulated brucine was released in 10 h.A skin permeation studyshowed that compared with the free brucine,LB exhibited higher cumulative drugpermeation through the skin and lower drug accumulation in skin tissue,indica-tive of an obvious promotion of skin permeation with liposomal *** acute dermal LD50of LB was greater than 100 mg/kg （brucine content） andskin irritation tests revealed that LB had no irritation to both integrity and brokenskin.A pharmacodynamic evaluation of LB was performed by xylene-inducedmouse ear edema test and acetic acid-induced writhing test at the dosage of 1.5,3,and 6 mg/kg,*** results showed that anti-inflammatory activitiesand analgesic effects of brucine encapsulated were significantly higher than thatof the free brucine （P<0.01）.Moreover,LB maintained a remarkably longer anti-inflammatory and analgesic ***:It can be proposed that LBprepared here could represent a safe,effective and promising transdermal formu-lation for analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

A detailed study was performed on the crystal structures of pan-milled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction. The crystallinity of HDPE first decreased slightly, followed by a gradual increase with increasing milling times. Monoclinic crystals appeared after 4 cycles of milling. With increasing times of milling, the proportion of monoclinic crystals increased significantly while the proportion of orthorhombic crystals decreased gradually. With increasing times of milling, the crystallite size of orthorhombic form decreased greatly, while the size of monoclinic crystallites kept almost constant during milling.

This paper constructs a new spectrum of networks by means of the matrix of link-state ofthe network,which can reveal the characteristics of the correlation between the degrees of the ***,the computation of this spectrum of networks is usually more feasible and more efficient due tothe much lower order of its matrix of link-state than its adjacent matrix in *** estimatesfor the bounds of the key eigenvalues in the spectrum are obtained,the corresponding inequalities arepresented and *** the sake of its application,the authors define spectrum of networks in twoways,and all theorems are given in parallel for both kinds of *** addition,the authors finda symmetry in the spectrum,which is relative to the characteristic of structure of its network to someextent.

Sediment denitrification rates at six Yangtze River estuary tidal flat locations(mudflats and salt marshes)were measured from July 2003 to October *** winter and summer,spatial distribution of denitrification rates was not great in the Yangtze estuary,while in spring and autumn,denitrification rates had a great spatial distribution because of the human activity *** temporal change of denitrification rates was *** ranged from 0.2 to 36.4 umolN·m^(-2)·h^(-1),and were higher in the *** annual average of sediment denitrification rate was 18.2±12.3 mu molN · m^(-2)· h^(-1)in the middle tidal flat and 15.1 ±9.45 mu molN·m^(-2)·h^(-1)in the low tidal flat in the Yangtze *** analysis indicated that the temperature was the primary factor controlling the process of denitrification(significant positive correlation,P<0.01);at the same time,the content of sediment total nitrogen(TN)and the molar ratio of sediment carbon and nitrogen(C/N)had significant positive correlation(P<0.05)and negative correlation(P<0.05)with denitrification rates,*** the Yangtze estuary,increasing of water salinity had no significant inhibition of denitrification because of the wide change range of water salinity.

Variation of peroxidase isoenzyme and biofilm of Phanerochaete chrysosporium in continuous membrane bioreactor for Reactive Brilliant Red X3-B treatment

The influence of a Reactive Brilliant Red X-3B （RBR X-3B） dye on the peroxidase isoenzyme ofPhanerochaete chrysosporium was determined, and the biofilm structure in a white rot fungal continuous membrane bioreactor （MBR） was also investigated by scanning electron microscope （SEM）. The variation of peroxidase isoenzyme and the decolorization rate in the continuous MBR were evaluated. The results showed that the 100 mg/L RBR X-3B could stimulate the production of the peroxidase isoenzyme in the shaking-flask culture. In addition, two new peroxidase isoenzyme bands with relative mobility （Rf） value of 0.27 and 0.28 appeared, but the activity was lower than the blank control of 11 d. In the continuous MBR, the system worked stably during the first 60 d, the main peroxidase isoenzyme bands existed and three new bands with Rf value of 0.10, 0.27, and 0.28 appeared. Meanwhile, the biofilm grew well and the average decolorization rate could reach 90.6%. But the bands of peroxidase isoenzyme decreased rapidly at day 65, only two bands with Rf value 0.24 and 0.26 existed, and the decolorization rate decreased to 78.3%. Therefore, 5 bottles of P. chrysosporium mycelial pellet were added into the MBR, and then the activity of the peroxidase isoenzyme and the decolorization rate had a slight recovery. Finally, the decolorization rate finally decreased to 75.2%. These results contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the variation of peroxidase isoenzyme and biofilm in continuous MBR by white rot fungi.
