The relationship between dopamine D2 receptors and brain perfusion in hemi-parkinsonism rats was studied. Hemi-parkinsonism rats were made by stereotaxic 6-hydroxy dopamine (6-OH-DA) lesions in substantia nigra(SN) and ventral tegmental area(VTA), apomorphine (Apo) which could induced the successful model rat rotates toward the intact side was used to select the rats, 125I-IBZM ex-vivo autoradiography analysis and 99mTc-HM-PAO regional cerebral biodistribution were used to evaluate D2 receptors and cerebral blood flow. The HPLC-ECD were used to measure striatum DA and its metabolites content. The lesioned side striatum DA and its metabolites HVA DOPAC reduced significantly than that of the intact side and seudo-operated group, striatum/cerebellum 125I-IBZM uptake ratio was 8.04+-0.71 in lesioned side of hemi-parkinsonism rats, significantly increased compared with the intact side and the seudo-operated group(p 30.11+-4.53% enhancement as compared to the intact side, and also show good correlation with 30 min Apo induced rotation numbers (r=0.98), the regional cerebral blood flow study didn’t show significant difference between bilateral brain cortex area(p >0.05). These results indicated that in the 6- OH-DA lesioned side DA content decreased significantly and an up-regulation of striatum D2 receptor binding sites was induced in hemi-parkinsonism rats, which showed good correlation with rotation behavior induced by Apo. Comparing with cerebral blood flow, D2 receptor reflected by IBZM seems to be more specific and earlier to detect the cerebral functional impairment in experimental bend-parkinsonism.

BACKGROUND: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is considered as a peripheral neuromuscular disorder. Some investigations demonstrate that MG affects central nervous system (CNS), and there are disorders in cognitive function, affection, sleep, mental status and others; however, there are also some different standpoints. Some questions are still disputed, such as whether or not MG exists in the CNS and cognitive function is impaired. DATA SOURCES: Using the terms of 'myasthenia gravis, neuropsychological test, memory, central, brain, cognitive dysfunction and so on', we searched the Medline database for the articles about CNS involved in MG, nerve and neuropsychology as well as cognitive function, which were published in the English language between January 1985 and December 2004. Meanwhile, we also searched CNKI database by inputting 'myasthenia gravis, neuropsychology and cognitive function' in Chinese for articles about involved neuropsychology and cognitive function which were published between October 1995 and June 2006 in the Chinese language. STUDY SELECTION: Data were checked in the first trial, and articles about the influences of MG on CNS, neuropsychology, cognitive function and central cholinergic function were selected, then those were obviously unrelated with above criteria were excluded. Articles which expound the influences of MG on neuropsychology and cognitive were included, but those with repeated contents were also excluded. DATA EXTRACTION: A total of 89 related English articles and 34 Chinese articles were collected, including 43 studies on involved CNS and 32 studies on involved central cholinergic function and cholinergic receptor. Sixty-three literatures were about neuropsychology and cognitive function, which were closely related with this article. Seventy-two articles met inclusive criteria and 66 were excluded. Objective To establish a test model for phototoxic agents using the method of chemiluminescence Methods The phototoxicity of pipemidic acid, doxycycline, griseofuvin and chlorpromazine was detected These agents and distilled water were irradiated with ultraviolet A (UVA) in the presence of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide reduced (NADH), and the duplicated samples were incubated in the dark as dark controls Then luminol was added to the test samples, and the chemiluminescent value was counted and calculated Results Chemiluminescent values of pipemidic acid, doxycycline and griseofuvin were significantly higher than those in controls The result of linear regression analysis showed that phototoxic intensity was linear correlated with UVA dosage The regression coefficient for distilled water was 0 56, indicating that the luminscent value (LV) rose slightly after UVA irradiation For pipemidic acid, griseofuvin and doxycycline, the regression coefficients reached 76 96 , 254 33 and 92 61 respectively, significantly increased in comparison with those of negative controls (P<0 01) Conclusion Phototoxicity of pipemidic acid, doxycycline and griseofuvin can be detected with the method of chemiluminescence

This work aims to investigate the effects of dosing regiments on drug delivery in solid tumors and to validate them with experiments on rats. The lumped parameter models of pharmacokinetics and of drug delivery in tumor were developed to simulate time courses of average drug concentration （Ct） of tumor interstitium in two types of dosing regiments （i.e., single-shot and triple-shot ones）. The two regiments were performed via antitumor drug, hydroxycamptothecin （HCPT）, on rats, to measure the drug concentration in the tumor. The simulations of the drug concentration in the tumor of the two dosing regiments were conducted and compared with the experimental data on rats. The coefficients in the models were investigated. It is concluded that the triple-shot method is more effective than that of single-shot injection. The present lumped-parameter model is quantitatively competent for drug delivery in solid tumor.

BACKGROUND: Marked hemodynamic alteration, commonly referred to as postreperfusion syndrome (PRS), often occurs after revascularization of the donor organ during orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) and is associated with poor outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the incidence, predictive factors and clinical outcomes of PRS in Chinese patients following OLT at a liver transplantation center in china. METHODS: Over a 5-year period, 330 consecutive patients who had undergone OLT for hepatocellular carcinoma or cirrhosis were included in this retrospective study. PRS was defined as a >30% decrease in the mean arterial pressure compared with that before revascularization for more than 1 minute during the first 5 minutes of graft reperfusion. The patients were divided into 2 groups according to the development of PRS: group 1 (patients with PRS, n=56) and group 2 (patients without PRS, n=274). The demographic characteristics, operative and postoperative courses, and outcomes of the patients were analyzed using SPSS version 18.0. RESULTS: Multivariate regression analysis showed that left ventricular diastolic dysfunction determined by echocardiography and prolonged cold ischemia time were the independent risk factors for PRS. More patients in group 1 showed postoperative renal dysfunction than those in group 2 (19.23% vs 8.4%). Moreover, patients in group 1 also had higher intraoperative (7.14% vs 0%) and postoperative mortalities (26.92% vs 12.04%).CONCLUSION: Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction and prolonged cold ischemia time contribute to a high incidence of PRS, which is associated with adverse outcomes in Chinese patients following OLT.

Hemodynamic factors play important roles in the formation, progression and rupture of cerebral aneurysms, and the Wall Shear Stress （WSS） and Oscillatory Shear Index （OSI） on the aneurysms are considered to be correlated with their growth and rupture. In this article, two computational models based on patient-specific cerebral aneurysms with daughter saccule are constructed from 3D-RA image data, one is lateral aneurysm located in middle cerebral artery （CA1） and the other is terminal aneurysm located in anterior communicating artery （CA2）, The corresponding models of the two aneurysms by removing daughter saccule are established in order to investigate the initiation and growth of the daughter saccule. The flow patterns and the distributions of hemodynamic factors in the two aneurysms before and after daughter saccule is removed are obtained by solving the governing equations with the commercial CFD software Ansys CFX11.0 under the non-Newtonian fluid assumption. By analyzing the flow patterns, it is concluded that the aneurysms with daughter saccules have more complex and unstable flow patterns and hence are prone to rupture. By comparing the distribution of OSI, a hypothesis that a high OSI causes the growth of the daughter saccule is presented.

Infections caused by opportunistic organisms which have been known as etiologic agents of disease become more and more *** spp. is one of the agents. Fungi of aspergillus genus are widely distributed in nature, particularly in the soil and in the decomposed vegetation. They are frequent opportunist pathogens in immunocompromised patients. The most frequent causative organisms that cause cutaneous aspergillosis are *** and ***.1-3 In this report, we present a case of primary cutaneous aspergillosis manifested by ulceration of the shank due to A. flavus. The patient had no deficiency of immunological status and severe disease associated with fungal infection. Excellent response was shown to anti-fungal therapy.

Human papillomavirus 58 (HPV58) is one type of HPV with high risk of causing cervical cancer. Unusually high prevalence of HPV58 has been reported in Asia, Africa and some other areas. However, due to the scattered distribution of global data, in addition to the lack of data of some HPV58 high-incidence nations and regions, like china's Mainland, a comprehensive analysis of the global geographical distribution of HPV58 remains blank so far. In this study, HPV58 from the human cervical cancer tissue was detected in china's Mainland, and 14 new HPV58-E6/L1 gene sequences were obtained. Moreover, phylogeographic analysis has been conducted combining the HPV58 sequences that have been deposited in GenBank since 1985. The study result shows that the sequences detected from the shanghai, Jiangsu and Sichuan areas are homologous with those found in the past from Hong Kong and Xi'an, china, as well as Japan and other Southeast Asian areas. Furthermore, Western Africa is considered to be the "root" source of the HPV58 variant, while china's Mainland and Southeast Asia are "transit points" and the new sources of HPV58 after receiving the isolates from the "root" source; like HPV16 and HPV18, the HPV58 might also be one of the major HPV types associated with the development and spread of cervical cancer.

OBJECTIVES: To survey the gene expression profiles in pancreatic carcinoma by using cDNA microarray and detect target genes for further study. METHODS: Three mixed samples from 2 cases of normal pancreatic tissue and 4 cases of moderate-differentiated pancreatic carcinoma were studied by means of cDNA microarray consisting of 18 000 genes. RESULTS: 1484 and 1353 different expressed genes were observed in two cancer samples respectively. We identified 455 genes altered with the same tendency in both samples, including 102 up-regulated and 353 down-regulated genes. There were 274 known genes and 181 unknown genes; 27.8% and 52.0% genes respectively had an expression level in cancer that was 2-fold higher or lower than that in normal samples. Tumor suppressor genes, growth factors and receptor genes, signal conduction genes, transcription factor genes were identified. CONCLUSIONS: cDNA microarray is an efficient and high-throughout method to investigate gene expression profiles in pancreatic carcinoma. MBD1, EDG1 and gene hypermethylation mechanism would play an important role in the pathogenesis of pancreatic carcinoma.
