Transgenic expression of DwMYB2 impairs iron transport from root to shoot in Arabidopsis thaliana

In plant,iron uptake and homeostasis are tightly regulated to ensure its absorption from soil and to avoid excessiron in the *** genes involved in this process have been identified during past several years,but there are manyproblems remain unsolved in the genetic regulation of whole plant iron trafficking and *** transcriptionfactors contain tandem repeats of a～50 amino acid DNA-binding motif (R) and are involved in the regulation of manyaspects of plant development,hormone signaling and ***,we report that the ectopic expression of orchidR2R3-MYB gene DwMYB2 in Arabidopsis thaliana confers the transgenic plants hypersensitivity to iron *** DwMYB2 transgenic plants,the iron content in root is two-fold higher compared to that in wild-type root,while thereverse is true in *** imbalance of iron content in root and shoot suggested that the translocation of iron fromroot to shoot was affected by the expression of DwMYB2 in the transgenic ***,gene chip and reversetranscription-polymerase chain reaction analysis revealed that the ferric-chelate reductase gene,AtFRO2,and the irontransporter gene,AtIRT1 and AtIRT2,are up-regulated by DwMYB2 expression,while other potential iron transporterssuch as AtIREG1,AtFRD3 and NRAMP1 are *** addition,the expression of several putative peptidetransporters and transcription factors are also altered in the 35S::DwMYB2 transgenic *** data provide us insightinto the whole plant translocation of iron and identify candidate genes for iron homeostasis in plants despite the fact thata heterologous gene was expressed.

Resilience effects for household food expenditure and dietary diversity in rural western china

A more resilient livelihood is increasingly recognized as an efficient way to improve vulnerable households’food security and optimize their dietary *** study quantifies rural household resilience in western china,identifies the three pillars(absorptive capacity,adaptive capacity,and transformative capacity)contribution to resilience,and then establishes the estimated Resilience Capacity Index(RCI)linked with food security and dietary diversity supported by the multiple indicator multiple cause(MIMIC)*** show that,despite geographical heterogeneity,the RCI consistently increased from 2015 to *** with a higher RCI inheriting better capacity to deal with risk and shocks are significantly and positively correlated with increasing food expenditure and diversifying food *** can be because resilient households will allocate more money to food expenditure instead of saving for livelihood ***,policymakers can provide more incentives for rural households to adopt more dynamic and effective risk management ***,in turn,could yield positive spillover effects by preventing human capital loss associated with dietary-related chronic diseases and mortality.

Controllable split polarization singularities for ultra-precise displacement sensing

The topic of optical precise displacement measurement has garnered significant attention and generated widespread interest recently. The use of optical singularity offers a potential solution for this purpose, although effectively manipulating the singularity in an ideal manner remains challenging. In this work, we propose a theoretical approach to achieve controllable position modulation of the C-point in the focal plane, whose spatial position can be easily modulated by adjusting the relative offset factor β and the offset angle α of an azimuthal polarization beam(APB), while the interval and orientation of the C-points can be flexibly regulated. Notably, the chiral polarization state undergoes a distinct reversal along the link-line connecting the two C-points, thereby providing a promising approach for accurate displacement sensing. To evaluate its sensing characteristics, the varying pattern of the scattered field intensity is monitored when sweeping a gold helix and nanoparticle along the link-line. The results of simulation quality index Q verify that the equilibrium factor of the scattering field possesses an obvious linear relationship with the displacement, signifying a precise sub-nanometric *** research introduces new methods for the flexible control of polarization singularities in tightly focused fields,thereby enhancing the utilization of circular polarization properties near C-points for displacement *** findings not only enrich the field of nanometer measurement technology but also pave the way for new avenues of research in this domain.

Dendritic cell(DC)-targeted delivery of mRNA is a prominent method to boost the efficacy of mRNA tumor *** targeting ligands are often modified on nanocarriers by polyethylene glycol(PEG)linker in mRNA delivery *** the PEG linker length influences the targeting delivery efficiency of mRNA nanocarrier in vivo remains ***,we designed and constructed DC-targeted mRNA delivery systems modified by mannose via different PEG linker lengths(100/400/1000/2000)(MPn-LPX).The top candidate MP_(400)-LPX(the linker was PEG400)showed the optimal mRNA expression and antigen presentation owing to the highly efficient uptake by ***,MP_(400)-LPX could better inhibited tumor growth and extended survival in the E.G7-OVA lymphoma and TC-1 cervical tumor mouse ***,these results demonstrated that PEG400 was the optimal linker for the PEGylated DC-targeted mRNA *** findings provided a new platform for the rational design of targeted mRNA nanovaccines with shorter-length PEG.

Content-based similarity for 3D model retrieval and classification

With the rapid development of 3D digital shape information, content-based 3D model retrieval and classification has become an important research area. This paper presents a novel 3D model retrieval and classification algorithm. For feature representation, a method combining a distance histogram and moment invariants is proposed to improve the retrieval performance. The major advantage of using a distance histogram is its invariance to the transforms of scaling, translation and rotation. Based on the premise that two similar objects should have high mutual information, the querying of 3D data should convey a great deal of information on the shape of the two objects, and so we propose a mutual information distance measurement to perform the similarity comparison of 3D objects. The proposed algorithm is tested with a 3D model retrieval and classification prototype, and the experimental evaluation demonstrates satisfactory retrieval results and classification accuracy.

Image classification and unsupervised image segmentation can be achieved using the Gaussian mixture *** the Gaussian mixture model enhances the flexibility of image segmentation,it does not reflect spatial information and is sensitive to the segmentation *** this study,we first present an efficient algorithm that incorporates spatial information into the Gaussian mixture model(GMM)without parameter *** proposed model highlights the residual region with considerable information and constructs color ***,we incorporate the content-based color saliency as spatial information in the Gaussian mixture *** segmentation is performed by clustering each pixel into an appropriate component according to the expectation maximization and maximum ***,the random color histogram assigns a unique color to each cluster and creates an attractive color by default for segmentation.A random color histogram serves as an effective tool for data visualization and is instrumental in the creation of generative art,facilitating both analytical and aesthetic *** experiments,we have used the Berkeley segmentation dataset BSDS-500 and Microsoft Research in Cambridge *** the study,the proposed model showcases notable advancements in unsupervised image segmentation,with probabilistic rand index(PRI)values reaching 0.80,BDE scores as low as 12.25 and 12.02,compactness variations at 0.59 and 0.7,and variation of information(VI)reduced to 2.0 and 1.49 for the BSDS-500 and MSRC datasets,respectively,outperforming current leading-edge methods and yielding more precise segmentations.

By reducing cysteine-sulfinic acid in oxidized peroxiredoxin,sulfiredoxin (Srx) plays an important role in oxidationstress resistance in yeast and human ***,we report the first molecular and functional characterization of Srxhomolog from higher *** analysis revealed the presence of potential Srx encoding sequences in bothmonocot and dicot plant *** plant Srx proteins exhibited significant identities to their orthologs from yeastand human,and contained the conserved signature sequence and residues essential for ***,unlike yeastand human orthologs,plant Srxs were all predicted to possess chloroplast transit peptide in their primary *** proteins from Arabidopsis and rice (designated as AtSrx and OsSrx,respectively) complemented functional defi-ciency of Srx in the SRXl deletion yeast cells.A GFP fusion protein of AtSrx was targeted to chloroplast in Arabidopsismesophyll *** transcription occurred in both vegetative and reproductive organs,and the highest transcriptlevel was detected in *** oxidation stress,AtSrx transcript level was substantially increased,which paralleledwith enhanced transcription of 2-Cys peroxiredoxins that have been found essential in maintaining chloroplast *** addition to oxidation stress,osmotic/water deficit or cold treatments also raised AtSrx transcript ***-sistent with above findings,the knock-out mutant of AtSrx was significantly more susceptible to oxidation stress thanwild type Arabidopsis *** together,the results of this work indicate the existence of functional Srx homolog inhigher plants that is essential for plants to cope with oxidation stress.

2023年4月发射的FY-3G上搭载17个频率的测雨微波成像仪(MWRI-RM),其业务定标的微波亮温(Tb)数据于2023年10月23日公开发布.本文比对了发布10天的MWRI-RM与全球降水测量(GPM)卫星上的微波成像仪(GMI)相匹配的Tb数据,并借助辐射传输模式进行双差分(DD)交叉定标分析,旨在快速评估新一代MWRI-RM观测数据质量.观测比较表明,MWR1-RM与GMI测量的Tb一致性很好,大多通道的平均偏差(MBE)和均方根误差(RMSE)均小于1K.两种传感器由于观测角度略有不同在水面产生约0.5 K差异.DD分析也展示出MWRI-RM的大多数通道性能与GMI相当接近,尤其是首次启用的高频166 GHz和183 GHz.

AtbHLH29 of Arabidopsis thaliana is a functional ortholog of tomato FER involved in controlling iron acquisition in strategy I plants

AtbHLH29 of Arabidopsis, encoding a bHLH protein, reveals a high similarity to the tomato FER which is proposed as a transcriptional regulator involved in controlling the iron deficiency responses and the iron uptake in tomato. For identification of its biological functions, AtbHLH29 was introduced into the genome of the tomato FER mutant T3238fer mediated by Agrobacterium tumefaciencs. Transgenic plants were regenerated and the stable integration of AtbHLH29 into their genomes was confirmed by Southern hybridization. Molecular analysis demonstrated that expression of the exogenous AtbHLH29 of Arabidopsis in roots of the FER mutant T3238fer enabled to complement the defect functions of FER. The transgenic plants regained the ability to activate the whole iron deficiency responses and showed normal growth as the wild type under iron-limiting stress. Our transformation data demonstrate that AtbHLH29 is a functional ortholog of the tomato FER and can completely replace FER in controlling the effective iron acquisition in tomato. Except of iron, FER protein was directly or indirectly involved in manganese homeostasis due to that loss functions of FER in T3238fer resulted in strong reduction of Mn content in leaves and the defect function on Mn accumulation in leaves was complemented by expression of AtbHLH29 in the transgenic plants. Identification of the similar biological functions of FER and AtbHLH29, which isolated from two systematically wide-diverged “strategy I” plants, suggests that FER might be a universal gene presented in all strategy I plants in controlling effective iron acquisition system in roots.

Serpentinization of peridotites from the southern Mariana forearc

A detailed petrologic and mineralogic study was carried out on serpentinized peridotites dredged from the southern landward slopes of the Mariana Trench,in order to reveal the serpentinization process of these unusual rocks and to identify the sole presence of the mineral *** constituent minerals of these southern Mariana forearc peridotites are olivine,amphibole and spinel,as well as serpentine,chlorite and *** with serpentinite seamounts,the serpentinized peridotites from the southern Mariana forearc are characterized by the absence of magnetite and brucite,and the common presence of talc;besides,the serpentine mineral variety is simplex,only *** mineral chemistry and mineral phase relationships,we conclude that(1) the absence of magnetite in the serpentinized peridotites is due to incomplete serpentinization,other than magnetite,the iron end-member in olivine forms Ferich brucite and Fe-rich serpentine;(2) brucite is not stable with high silica activity,reacting with later SiO2-rich fluid and then forming lizardite,leading to a lack of brucite in these serpentinized peridotites;(3) the occurrence of talc is the result of later SiO2-rich fluid reactions with lizardite;and(4) the reason for the sole occurrence of lizardite is that the temperature condition of our study are awas nothig henough for the formation of antigorite(whichisstable at >500 °C).Despite the broad overlap of lizardite and chrysotile in growth temperature,differences in the modes of occurrence of lizardite and chrysotile,such as the scarcity of H2O,low porosity and permeability,as well as the actual situation of initial serpentinization in the study area,result in the absolute prevalence of lizardite over chrysotile in the area.
