The effects of modifying the carbohydrate chain and amino acids on the conformation andactivity of Millettia dielsiana *** ***（MDL）were studied by hemagglutination,fluorescenceand circular dichroism *** modification of tryptophan residues led to a compete loss of hemagglu-tinating activity;however,the addition of mannose was able to prevent this loss of *** resultsindicate that two tryptophan residues are involved in the carbohydrate-binding *** of thecarboxyl group residues produced an 80% loss of activity,but the presence of mannose protected against *** results suggest that the carboxyl groups of aspartic and glutamic acids are involved in thecarbohydrate-binding site of the ***,oxidation of the carbohydrate chain and modification of thehistidine and arginine residues did not affect the hemagglutinating activity of *** studies ofMDL indicate that tryptophan residues are present in a relatively hydrophobic region,and the binding ofmannose to MDL could quench tryptophan fluorescence without any change in λ*** circular dicbroismspectrum showed that all of these modifications affected the conformation of the MDL molecule to differentextents,except the modification of arginine *** quenching showed that acrylamide andiodoacetic acids are able to quench 77% and 98% of the fluorescence of tryptophan in MDL,***,K1 produced a barely perceptible effect on the fluorescence of MDL,even when the concentrationof I-was 0.15 *** demonstrates that most of tryptophan residues are located in relatively hydrophobicor negatively charged areas near the surface of the MDL molecule.

Evaluation of Sustainable Land Management and Diagnosis of Obstacle at County Scale in Sichuan Basin:Taking Lezhi County as Example

This paper established sustainable land resources evaluating indicators fit for hilly area in Sichuan Basin, Southwest of china, and evaluated the case of sustainable land management of Lezhi County from 1990 to 2001. The result showed that the land resource sustainable utilization ability in Lezhi County is belong to Second level （better sustainable）. Secondly, this paper diagnosed some years obstacles of sustainable land management of Lezhi County from base period to goal period and compared the obstacles factors in the indicators system. There were 16 indexes orderly become major affect factor to land sustainable utilization of Lezhi county in indicator system, of which there are 8 obstacles indexes exist both in 1990 and 2001. The value of obstacles degree of five indicators exceeded 5 in 1990, but in 2001, only two indicators＇ values were more than 5.

Study on the coating of nano-scale SiO_2 film on the surface of nanocrystalline Mg-Al layered double hydroxides

The coating process of a nano-scale SiO2 film on the nanocrystalline Mg-Al layered double hydroxides via a sol-gel process was investigated. The uniform and dense SiO2film with a thickness of about 5 nm on the nano-LDHs particles was characterized by the solubility test in the dilute HNO3 or HCl acid, TEM and FT-IR, XRD, TG and DSC. The chemical shifts of binding en- ergies of Al 2p, Mg 2p, Si 2s and O 1s on the coated particles indicate that the coating of the SiO2 nano-film on the surface of the nano-LDHs proceeds through the formation of Mg-O-Si and Al-O-Si bonds. The thermal analysis shows that both the SiO2-coated nano-LDHs and the nano-LDHs have a similar mass loss process, in which there are three obvious stages of mass loss in the temperature range of 40—700℃. Furthermore, the more the coatedamount of SiO2on the surface of the nano-LDHs is, the less the mass loss of the samples is at 700℃.The nano- LDHs have two obvious endothermic peaks at 244.67℃ and 430.13℃, whose corresponding heat absorption capacities are 412.28 J/g and 336.30 J/g, respectively. In contrast, the coated nano-LDHs have only one endothermic peak at 243.60℃ with a heat absorption capacity of 221.25 J/g.

Kinetics and reaction mechanism of phenol hydroxylation catalyzed by La-Cu_4FeAlCO_3

The present work synthesizes La-Cu4FeAlCO3 catalyst under microwave irradiation and characterizes its structure using XRD and IR techniques. The results show that the obtained La-Cu4FeAlCO3 has a hydrotalcite structure. In the phenol hydroxylation with H2O2 catalyzed by La-Cu4FeAlCO3, the effects of reaction time and phenol/H2O2 molar ratio on the phenol hy-droxylation, and relationships between the initial hydroxylation rate with concentration of the catalyst, phenol, H2O2 and reaction temperature are also investigated in details. It is shown the phenol conversion can reach 50.09% (mol percent) in the phenol hydroxylation catalyzed by La-Cu4FeAlCO3, under the reaction conditions of the molar ratio of phenol/H2O2 1/2, the amount ratio of phenol/catalyst 20, reaction temperature 343 K, reaction time 120 min, 10 mL distilled water as solvent. Moreover, a kinetic equation of v = k[La ? Cu 4 FeAlCO 3 ][C 6 H 5 OH][H 2 O 2]. and the activation energy of Ea=58.37 kJ/mol are obtained according to the kinetic studies. Due to the fact that the HO-Cu+-OH species are detected in La-Cu4FeAlCO3/H2O2 system by XPS, the new mechanism about the generation of hydroxyl free radicals in the phenol hydroxylation is pro-posed, which is supposed that HO-Cu+-OH species are transition state in this reaction.

Susceptibility Assessment of Landslides Caused by the Wenchuan Earthquake Using a Logistic Regression Model

The Wenchuan earthquake on May 12,2008 caused numerous collapses,landslides,barrier lakes,and debris *** susceptibility mapping is important for evaluation of environmental capacity and also as a guide for post-earthquake *** this paper,a logistic regression model was developed within the framework of GIS to map landslide *** County,a heavily affected area,was selected for the *** of landslides was prepared by interpretation of multi-temporal and multi-resolution remote sensing images(ADS40 aerial imagery,SPOT5 imagery and TM imagery,etc.) and field *** Certainly Factor method was used to find the influencial factors,indicating that lithologic groups,distance from major faults,slope angle,profile curvature,and altitude are the dominant factors influencing *** weight of each factor was determined using a binomial logistic regression *** susceptibility mapping was based on spatial overlay analysis and divided into five *** faults have the most significant impact,and landslides will occur most likely in areas near the *** of the area has a high or very high susceptibility,located in the northeast,south and southwest,including 65.3% of all landslides coincident with the *** susceptibility map can reveal the likelihood of future failures,and it will be useful for planners during the rebuilding process and for future zoning issues.

Nitrogen Mineralization of Prunings of Six N_2-Fixing Hedgerow Species in a Dry Valley of the Jinsha River

A litterbag experiment of 12 weeks was conducted to study nitrogenmineralization process of prunings of six nitrogen-fixing hedgerowspecies in a dry valley of the Jinsha River. Prunigns wereincorporated into soil or used as mulch. The results indicated thatpruning N of the six hedgerow species was mineralized fast in thefirst week and then decreased slowly in the rest of the study *** prunings were incorporated into soil, the amount of nitrogenmineralized by the end of the first week accounted for 69.9/100,58.2/100, 54.5/100, 43.0/100, 29.6/100 and 20.6/100 of the total N inprungins of Desmodium rensonii, Tephrosia candida, Leucaenaleucoephala, Albizia yunnanensis, Acacia dealbata, and Acaciamearnsii, respectively.

Assessing the Carrying Capacity of Tourist Resorts: An Application of Tourists’ Spatial Behavior Simulator Based on GIS and Multi-Agent System

Based on the study of visitors' individual spatial behaviors, a tourists'spatial behavior simulator (TSBS) to assess the carrying capacity of tourist resorts was developed,TSBS employs GIS (Geographic Information System) to manage the spatial data,and Multi-Agent systemto simulate the actions of individual visitors. By utilizing TSBS, visitors' travel patterns such aslocation, cost, and state can be analyzed and predicted. Based on this analysis and prediction, themodel of assessing the carrying capacity of resorts is built. Our results show that TSBS will be aneffective tool to accurately assess the carrying capacity of tourist resorts.

Study on fire-retardant nanocrystalline Mg-Al layered double hydroxides synthesized by microwavecrystallization method

Nanocrystalline Mg-Al layered double hydroxides with the particle size being 10—40 nm were firstly prepared by the technology of the microwave-crystallization and the vari- able-speed addition of the alkali. The obtained samples were characterized by TEM and XRD. The roles of the microwave and addition rate of the alkali were also discussed in the present work. The thermal decomposition activation energy of the nano-LDHs was calculated according to their TG, DTG and DSC curves by the Ozawa method. The results showed that the thermal decom- position of the nano-LDHs had four steps. Thereby the decomposition model of the nano-LDHs was supposed according to the analysis of their thermal decomposition. After PS, ABS, HDPE and PVC were filled with the nano-LDHs, their LOI values could be increased up to 28, 27, 26 and 33, respectively. When the fire-retardant coating contained 1.9% of the nano-LDHs that was 0.27 times the dosage of the conventional TiO2, its fire endurance time reached 32.75min that was 7.05 min longer than that of the best coating containing TiO2 according to the model big-panel combustion test method.

An extended fast algorithm for constructing the Dixon resultant matrix

In recent years,the Dixon resultant matrix has been used widely in the re-sultant elimination to solve nonlinear polynomial equations and many researchers havestudied its efficient *** recursive algorithm is a very efficient algorithm,butwhich deals with the case of three polynomial equations with two variables at *** paper,we extend the algorithm to the general case of n+1 polynomial equations in *** algorithm has been implemented in Maple *** testing the random polyno-mial equations,the results demonstrate that the efficiency of our program is much betterthan the previous methods,and it is exciting that the necessary condition for the existenceof common intersection points on four general surfaces in which the degree with respectto every variable is not greater than 2 is given out in 48×48 Dixon matrix firstly by ourprogram.
