Data Warehouse concept and authors’ experiences of development and application,a historical database concept is introduced.A Polytechnic Database management System(PDMS) with a historical database was developed by prototyping development method for monitoring a shipiock slope of a large hydropower station in hunan,*** structures and functions of the historical database in the PDMS are *** engineering application results show that the historical database is useful in the Decision Support System of geological ***,the prospective usage and extension fields of historical database are briefly discussed.
