Previous studies have shown that the compound(E)-2-(3,4-dihydroxystyryl)-3-hydroxy-4H-pyran-4-one(D30),a pyromeconic acid derivative,possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties,inhibits amyloid-β aggregation,and alleviates scopolamine-induced cognitive impairment,similar to the phase Ⅲ clinical drug *** this study,we established a mouse model of Alz.eimer's disease via intracerebroventricular injection of fibrillar amyloid-β to investigate the effect of D30 on fibrillar amyloid-β-induced *** results showed that D30 alleviated fibrillar amyloid-β-induced cognitive impairment,promoted fibrillar amyloid-β clearance from the hippocampus and cortex,suppressed oxidative stress,and inhibited activation of microglia and astrocytes.D30 also reversed the fibrillar amyloid-β-induced loss of dendritic spines and synaptic protein ***,we demonstrated that exogenous fibrillar amyloid-βintroduced by intracerebroventricular injection greatly increased galectin-3 expression levels in the brain,and this increase was blocked by *** the role of D30 in clearing amyloid-β,inhibiting neuroinflammation,protecting synapses,and improving cognition,this study highlights the potential of galectin-3 as a promising treatment target for patients with Alz.eimer's disease.

By introducing the functional theory into the calculation of electric double layer （EDL） interaction, the interaction energies of two parallel plates were calculated respectively at low, moderate, and high potentials. Compared with the results of two existing methods, Debye-Hückel and Langmuir methods, which are applicable just to the critical potentials and perform poorly in the intermediate potential, the functional approach not only has much simpler expression of the EDL interaction energy, but also performs well in the entire range of potentials.

A simple ammonium iodide salt in amide solvent catalyz.s regioselective decarboxylative alkylation of C(sp^(3))-H bonds of Naryl glycine derivatives, of C(sp^(2))-H bond of heteroarenes, and cascade radical addition to unsaturated bond followed by intramolecular addition to arene, with a broad scope of N-hydroxyphthalimide derived redox active esters under visible light irradiation. The reactions are suggested to proceed through photoactivation of a transiently assembled chromophore from electron-deficient phthalimide moiety and iodide anion through an anion-π interaction in solvent cage followed by diffusion to generate solvated free radical species to react with C-H substrates. The simplicity, practicality, and broad substrate scope of this method highlight the synthetic power of photocatalysis through transiently assembled chromophore, and will hopefully inspire further developments of low cost photocatalysis based on various non-covalent interactions, which are prevalent in supramolecular chemistry and biosystems, for sustainable organic synthesis.

Enumeration of perfect matchings on graphs has a longstanding interest in combinatorial mathematics. In this paper, we obtain some explicit expressions of the number of perfect matchings for a type of Archimedean lattices with toroidal boundary by applying Tesler's crossing orientations to obtain some Pfaffan orientations and enumerating their Pfaffans.

An Emergency Blood Allocation Approach Considering Blood Group Compatibility in Disaster Relief Operations

Large-scale sudden-onset disasters may cause massive injuries and thus place great pressure on the emergency blood supplies of local blood banks. When blood is in short supply, blood products gathered urgently to a local blood center should be appropriately allocated to blood banks in the affected area. Moreover, ABO/Rh(D) compatibilities among blood groups must be considered during emergency situations. To minimiz. the total unmet demand of blood products considering the optimal ABO/Rh(D)-compatible blood substitution scheme, a mixed integer programming model is developed and solved efficiently by using a greedy heuristic algorithm. Finally, a numerical example derived from the emergency blood supply scenario of the Wenchuan Earthquake is presented to verify the proposed model and algorithm. The results show that considering ABO/Rh(D)-compatible blood substitution can remarkably increase the efficiency of emergency blood allocation while lowering blood shortage, and the preference order of possible ABO/Rh(D)-compatible substitutions has an influence on the allocation solution.

Anodic-Cathodic Electrocatalytic Degradation of Phenol with Oxygen Sparged in the Presence of Iron(Ⅱ)

Under oxygen sparged, the synergetic effects of both anodic cathodic electrocatalysis(ACE) and ferrous ion catalyz.d anodic cathodic electrocatalysis(FeACE) on phenol degradation were observed in an undivided cell composed of a β PbO 2 anode modified with fluorine resin and a nickel chromium titanium alloy net cathode. Oxygen sparging rate, ferrous concentration, and current significantly affect phenol destruction. The phenol was removed by 10%-13% increasingly under FeACE vs . ACE, and by 12%-15% under ACE vs . anodic electrocatalysis(AE). The phenol destruction was due to the formation of hydroxyl oxidant on the surface of lead oxide at the anode and the reduction of oxygen at the cathode.
