We study the minimizers of the Ginzburg-Landau model for variable thickness, superconducting, thin films with high k, placed in an applied magnetic field hex, when hex is of the order of the ＂first critical field＂, i.e. of the order of ｜lnε｜. We obtain the asymptotic estimates of minimal energy and describe the possible locations of the vortices.

For the strongly coupled system of M ≥ 3 competing species：-△[（di＋∑j=1^Mβijuj）ui]=（ai-bi）ui-kui∑j≠iui,i=1,…,M,we prove the uniqueness of the limiting configuration as k →∞ under suitable conditions. Moreover, we prove that the limiting configuration minimizes a variational problem associated to the strongly coupled system among the segregated states with the same boundary conditions.

Proper matching of cold-rolled deformation and low-temperature short-term aging can simultaneously enhance the strength and ductility of the lean duplex stainless steel. To investigate this, the microstructure evolution of cold-rolled and aging steels was observed by using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and electron backscattered diffraction. Additionally, the phase volume fraction was measured using X-ray diffraction. In this study, it was observed that the elongation of 21Cr lean duplex stainless steel significantly increased to 16.7% after undergoing moderate cold deformation (~ 40% reduction) and subsequent aging treatment at 550 ℃ for 30 min. Remarkably, the material still maintained a high yield strength of 1045 MPa. Such an excellent mechanical property was attributed to a unique microstructure combination of fine α'-martensite, twins, coarsened austenite resulting from partial martensite reverse transformation, and two-phase fine layered structure. The result of this study may open up new horizons for the alloy development in order to overcome the low ductility of cold-rolled high-strength lean duplex stainless steel.

Multifractal process of runoff fluctuation of the Kaidu River in Xinjiang, China

Based on the hydrological data in the headwater region of the Kaidu River during 1972-2011, the multifractal process of runoff fluctuation was analyzed. Results indicated that, in the past 40 years, the overall runoff of the Kaidu River in Xinjiang has shown significant multifractal behavior. Its singular curve 1nχq（ε）-1n（ε） verified a favorable scale invariance over the entire time scale, r（q）-q proved that evolution of the runoff time series presented multifractal characteristics. Moreover, the multifractal spectrumf（α）-α curve was hooklike leftward which indicated that, compared to relatively large runoff events. And △f〈0 indicated that these relatively small events took the leading role; B〈0 explained the Kaidu River＇s daily-runoff ascending tendency presented during 1972-2011. Besides that, the multifractal behavior of the Kaidu River＇s runoff variability over four decades was also analyzed. Generally speaking, by decades, their four corresponding spectrum variations were not noticeable. These △α values showed larger runoff events occupied the leading position with some local values falling. During the 1970s to the 1990s, △f〈0 illustrated the probability of the daily runoff at the lowest point is always larger than that of the highest during three continuous decades. At the beginning of the 21 st century, for △f〉0 the trend presented was contrary from the 1970s to the 1990s. B values suggested an overall trend of increases during 1972-2011. Until the 21 st century, the runoff with a slightly descending tendency on the whole explained these relatively large runoff events taking the leading role for the Kaidu River; but sometimes, some small events also played the dominant role.

Similar to other metallic materials,duplex stainless steel dramatically loses its advantage of high ductility as they are ***,we produce a gradient nanograined dual-phase structure in the 2101 duplex stainless steel,thus facilitating a superior strength-ductility synergy:a yield strength of 1009.5 MPa being two times higher than that of the as-received sample,a total elongation of 23.4%and a uniform elongation of 5.9%.This novel structure is produced through a processing route of ultrasonic severe surface rolling and annealing,which realizes a superposition of gradient nanostructure and lamellar dual-phase structure with austenite and *** the tension deformation of gradi-ent nanograined dual-phase structured duplex stainless steel,a significant accumulation of geometrically necessary dislocations *** dislocations are formed to accommodate the deformation incompat-ibility caused by the layer-by-layer difference in strength and hardness of individual phase domains,as well as the inherent difference in properties between the austenite and ferrite *** results in a stronger hetero-deformation induced strengthening and hardening significantly contributing to superior mechanical *** study provides a new avenue to develop advanced steels with high strength and ductility.

Fracture in ductile materials often occurs in conjunction with plastic ***,in the bond-based peridynamic(BB-PD)theory,the classic mechanical stress is not defined *** makes it difficult to describe plasticity directly using the classical plastic *** address the above issue,a unified bond-based peridynamics model was proposed as an effective tool to solve elastoplastic fracture *** to the existing models,the proposed model directly describes the elastoplastic theory at the bond level without the need for additional calculation *** results obtained in the context of this model are shown to be consistent with FEM results in regard to force-displacement curves,displacement fields,stress fields,and plastic deformation *** model exhibits good capability of capturing crack propagation in ductile material failure problems.
