QTLNetworkR is an R package that aims to provide a user-friendly and platform-independent tool to visualize quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping results. The graphical functions of the QTLNetworkR are based upon lattice and grid packages, and the graphical user interface (GUI) of the QTLNetworkR is built upon RGtk2 and gWidgetsRGtk2 packages. Six functions are designed to help visualize marker interval, putative QTL, QTL-by- environment interactions, marker interval interactions, epistasis, and the predicted genetic architecture of complex traits. It is especially helpful in profiling results for multiple traits at multiple environments. The current version of QTLNetworkR is able to accept QTL mapping results from QTLNetwork, and it is ready for possible extensions to import results from some other QTL mapping software packages. In addition, we presented a QTL mapping result in rice (Oryza sativa) as an example to describe the features of QTLNetworkR.

Hydrological,sediment,and bathymetric data of the Shashi Reach in the middle yangtze River for the period of 1975-2018 were collected,and the characteristics of low water level changes and their impacts on utilization of water depth for navigation were *** results showed that,during the study period,the Shashi Reach riverbed was significantly scoured and incised,with cross-sectional profiles showing overall narrowing and *** indicated a strong potential to improve the water depth of the *** analysis of the temporal variation of in-channel topographical features showed that the Taipingkou diara underwent siltation and erosion,with its head gradually scoured and relocated downstream after 2008,and the Sanbatan diara continued to shrink and migrate *** water levels with the same flow rate over the study period *** instance,from 2003 to 2020,the water level at the Shashi hydrological station decreased to 1.37 m with a flow rate of 6000 m^(3)/***,the designed minimum navigable water level of the Shashi Reach was approximately 2.11m lower than the recommended *** terms of utilization of the channel water depth,continuous scouring of the river channel is expected to result in a reduction in discharge at the Taipingkou mouth,which will improve the water depth conditions of the channel during the dry season in the Shashi *** several channel regulation projects,the 3.5-m depth of the Shashi Reach would basically be *** promotes utilization of the shipping route from the Taipingkou south branch to the Sanbatan north branch as the main navigation channel during the dry *** the factors of current water depth and the clear width limitation of the navigation hole at the Jingzhou yangtze River Bridge,this route can still be favored as the main navigation channel with a 4.5-m depth during the dry season.

BACKGROUND： The majority of studies addressing spinal cord ischemia/reperfusion injury （SCIRI） have focused on drugs, proteins, cytokines, and various surgical techniques. A recent study reports that human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell （hUCMSC） transplantation achieves good therapeutic effects, but the mechanisms underlying nerve protection remain poorly understood. OBJECTIVE： To observe survival of transplanted hUCMSCs in SCIRI rat models and the influence on motor function in the hind limbs, to determine interleukin-8 expression and cellular apoptosis in spinal cord tissues, and to verify the hypothesis that hUCMSC transplantation exhibits protective effects on SCIRI. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at the Laboratory of the Department of Orthopedics in the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, China between January 2007 and December 2008. MATERIALS： hUCMSCs were harvested from umbilical cord blood of healthy pregnant women after parturition in the Obstetrical Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, China. Rabbit anti-human BrdU monoclonal antibody was provided by DAKO, USA. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling （TUNEL） Kit and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA） Kit were purchased by Wuhan Boster, China. METHODS： A total of 72 healthy, Wistar, adult rats were randomly assigned to three groups： sham-surgery, model, and transplantation, with 24 rats in each group. SCIRI was induced in the model and transplantation groups via the abdominal aorta block method. The infrarenal abdominal aorta was not blocked in the sham-surgery group. Prior to abdominal aorta occlusion, 0.2 03 mL bromodeoxyuridine （BrdU）-Iabeled hUCMSCs suspension （cell concentration 5 × 10 3/uL） was injected through the great saphenous vein of the hind limb, and an equal volume of physiological saline was administered to the model and sham-surgery groups. Designing soft robots that are able to perceive unstructured,dynamic environments and their deformations has been a long-term *** reported self-sensing soft actuators were mostly constructed via integrating separate actuators and *** actuation performances and the sensing reliability are affected owing to the unmatched materials and weak *** a seamless integration of soft actuators and sensors remains a grand ***,we report a fabrication strategy to endow soft actuators with sensing capability and programmable actuation *** foam inside the actuator functions as actuator and sensor simultaneously,effectively addressing the conformability and connection reliability issues that existed in current self-sensing *** actuators are lightweight(a decrease of 58%in weight),powerful(lifting a load of 433 times of its own weight),and versatile(coupling twisting and contraction motions).Furthermore,the actuators are able to detect multiple physical stimuli with high reliability,demonstrating their exteroception and proprioception *** self-sensing soft robotic prototypes,including a bionic bicep and a bionic neck,are constructed to illustrate their *** study opens up new possibilities for the design of soft actuators and has promising potential in a variety of applications,ranging from human-robot interaction,soft orthotics,to wearable robotics.

Influence of outliers on QTL mapping for complex traits

A method was proposed for the detection of outliers and influential observations in the framework of a mixed linear model, prior to the quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping analysis. We investigated the impact of outliers on QTL mapping for complex traits in a mouse BXD population, and observed that the dropping of outliers could provide the evidence of additional QTL and epistatic loci affecting the 1stBrain-OB and the 2ndBrain-OB in a cross of the abovementioned population. The results could also reveal a remarkable increase in estimating heritabilities of QTL in the absence of outliers. In addition, simulations were conducted to investigate the detection powers and false discovery rates (FDRs) of QTLs in the presence and absence of outliers. The results suggested that the presence of a small proportion of outliers could increase the FDR and hence decrease the detection power of QTLs. A drastic increase could be obtained in the estimates of standard errors for position, additive and additive× environment interaction effects of QTLs in the presence of outliers.

AIM： To retrospectively evaluate the clinical relevance, perioperative risk factors, outcome of different pharmacological prophylaxis, and short-term prognostic value of atrial fibrillation （AF） after surgery for esophageal carcinoma. METHODS： We retrospectively studied 63 patients with AF after surgery for esophageal carcinoma in comparison with 126 patients without AF after esophagectomy during the same time. Postoperative AF incidence was related to different clinical factors possibly involved in its occurrence and short-term survival. RESULTS： A strong relationship was observed between AF and postoperative hypoxia, history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD）, postoperative thoracic-gastric dilatation, age older than 65 years, male sex and history of cardiac disease. No difference was observed between the two groups with regard to shortterm mortality and length of hospital stay. CONCLUSIONS： AF occurs more frequently after esophagectomy in aged and male patients. Other factors contributing to postoperative AF are history of COPD and cardiac disease, postoperative hypoxia and thoracicgastric dilatation.

316L stainless steel（SS 316L） is quite attractive as bipolar plates in proton exchange membrane fuel cells（PEMFC）.In this study,graphite-polypyrrole was coated on SS 316L by the method of cyclic *** surface morphology and chemical composition of the graphite-polypyrrole composite coating were investigated by scanning electron microscopy（SEM） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）.A simulated working environment of PEMFC was applied for testing the corrosion properties of graphite-polypyrrole coated SS *** current densities in the simulated PEMFC anode and cathode conditions are around 3×10-9 and 9×10-5 A·cm-2,*** addition,the interfacial contact resistance（ICR） was also *** ICR value of graphite-polypyrrole coated SS 316L is much lower than that of bare SS ***,graphite-polypyrrole coated SS 316L indicates a great potential for the application in PEMFC.
