Air Pollution Exposure Based on Nighttime Light Remote Sensing and Multi-source Geographic Data in Beijing

Air pollution is a problem that directly affects human health,the global environment and the climate.The air quality index(AQI)indicates the degree of air pollution and effect on human health;however,when assessing air pollution only based on AQI monitoring data the fact that the same degree of air pollution is more harmful in more densely populated areas is ignored.In the present study,multi-source data were combined to map the distribution of the AQI and population data,and the analyze their pollution population exposure of Beijing in 2018 was analyzed.Machine learning based on the random forest algorithm was adopted to calculate the monthly average AQI of Beijing in 2018.Using Luojia-1 nighttime light remote sensing data,population statistics data,the population of Beijing in 2018 and point of interest data,the distribution of the permanent population in Beijing was estimated with a high precision of 200 m×200 m.Based on the spatialization results of the AQI and population of Beijing,the air pollution exposure levels in various parts of Beijing were calculated using the population-weighted pollution exposure level(PWEL)formula.The results show that the southern region of Beijing had a more serious level of air pollution,while the northern region was less polluted.At the same time,the population was found to agglomerate mainly in the central city and the peripheric areas thereof.In the present study,the exposure of different districts and towns in Beijing to pollution was analyzed,based on high resolution population spatialization data,it could take the pollution exposure issue down to each individual town.And we found that towns with higher exposure such as Yongshun Town,Shahe Town and Liyuan Town were all found to have a population of over 200000 which was much higher than the median population of townships of51741 in Beijing.Additionally,the change trend of air pollution exposure levels in various regions of Beijing in 2018 was almost the same,with the peak value being in winter and the lowest value being in

Acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid promotes sciatic nerve repair after injury: molecular mechanism

Previous studies showed that acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid(AKBA),the active ingredient in the natural Chinese medicine Boswellia,can stimulate sciatic nerve injury repair via promoting Schwann cell proliferation.However,the underlying molecular mechanism remains poorly understood.In this study,we performed genomic sequencing in a rat model of sciatic nerve crush injury after gastric AKBA administration for 30 days.We found that the phagosome pathway was related to AKBA treatment,and brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression in the neurotrophic factor signaling pathway was also highly up-regulated.We further investigated gene and protein expression changes in the phagosome pathway and neurotrophic factor signaling pathway.Myeloperoxidase expression in the phagosome pathway was markedly decreased,and brain-derived neurotrophic factor,nerve growth factor,and nerve growth factor receptor expression levels in the neurotrophic factor signaling pathway were greatly increased.Additionally,expression levels of the inflammatory factors CD68,interleukin-1β,pro-interleukin-1β,and tumor necrosis factor-αwere also decreased.Myelin basic protein-andβ3-tubulin-positive expression as well as the axon diameter-to-total nerve diameter ratio in the injured sciatic nerve were also increased.These findings suggest that,at the molecular level,AKBA can increase neurotrophic factor expression through inhibiting myeloperoxidase expression and reducing inflammatory reactions,which could promote myelin sheath and axon regeneration in the injured sciatic nerve.

Microstructure and properties of pure iron/copper composite cladding layers on carbon steel

In the present study, pure iron/copper composite metal cladding was deposited onto carbon steel by tungsten inert gas welding. The study focused on interfacial morphological, microstructural, and mechanical analyses of the composite cladding layers. Iron liquid–solid-phase zones were formed at copper/steel and iron interfaces because of the melting of the steel substrate and iron. Iron concentrated in the copper cladding layer was observed to exhibit belt, globule, and dendrite morphologies. The appearance of iron-rich globules indicated the occurrence of liquid phase separation（LPS） prior to solidification, and iron-rich dendrites crystallized without the occurrence of LPS. The maximum microhardness of the iron/steel interface was lower than that of the copper/steel interface because of the diffusion of elemental carbon. All samples fractured in the cladding layers. Because of a relatively lower strength of the copper layer, a short plateau region appeared when shear movement was from copper to iron.

Isolated traumatic gallbladder injury: A case report

BACKGROUND Isolated gallbladder injury(GI)(IGI)directly induced by abdominal trauma is rare.Symptoms,indications,and imaging examinations of IGI are frequently non-specific,posing tremendous diagnostic challenges,which are simple to overlook and may have severe implications.Improving doctors'understanding of gallbladder injury(GI)facilitates early detection and decreases the likelihood of severe consequences,including death.CASE SUMMARY We report a case of IGI caused by blunt violence(after falling from three meters with the umbilicus as the stress point)and performed laparoscopic repair of the gallbladder rupture,which helps clinicians understand IGI and reduce the severe consequences of delayed diagnosis.Through extensive medical history and dynamic abdominal ultrasound evaluation,doctors can identify GI early and begin surgery,thereby decreasing the devastating repercussions of delayed diagnosis.CONCLUSION This article aims to improve clinicians'understanding of IGI and propose a method for the diagnosis and treatment of GI.

Understanding auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder： a system- atic review in transgenic mouse models

Auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder is a unique group of hearing dysfunctions characterized by preserved outer hair cell function and abnormal neural conduction of the auditory pathway. However, the pathogenic mechanism underlying this disorder is not clear. We therefore performed a systematic review of genetic mouse models with different gene mutations to provide a valuable tool for better understanding of the process and the possible molecular mechanisms. Of the 18 articles retrieved, nine met the required criteria. All biochemical, histological, and electrophysiological results were recorded for each of the mouse models, as was the transgenic technology. This review provides a summary of different mouse models that may play an important role in the diagnosis and management of auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder in the future.

Multiscale confinement nitridation in molybdenum carbide for efficient hydrogen production

The molybdenum carbide (Mo2C) has been regarded as one of the most cost-efficient and stable electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by the virtue of its Pt-like electronic structures.However,the inherent limitation of high density of empty valence band significantly reduces its catalytic reactivity by reason of strong hydrogen desorption resistance.Herein,we propose a multiscale confinement synthesis method to design the nitrogen-rich Mo2C for modulating the band structure via decomposing the pre-coordination bonded polymer in a pressure-tight tube sealing system.Pre-bonded C/N-Mo in the coordination precursor constructs a micro-confinement space,enabling the homogeneous nitrogenization in-situ happened during the formation of Mo2C.Simultaneously,the evolved gases from the precursor decomposition in tube sealing system establish a macro-confinement environment,preventing the lattice N escape and further endowing a continuous nitridation.Combining the multiscale confinement effects,the nitrogen-rich Mo2C displays as high as 25%N-Mo concentration in carbide lattice,leading to a satisfactory band structure.Accordingly,the constructed nitrogen-rich Mo2C reveals an adorable catalytic activity for HER in both alkaline and acid solution.It is anticipated that the multiscale confinement synthesis strategy presents guideline for the rational design of electrocatalysts and beyond.

Rechargeable potassium-ion batteries(PIBs)have great potential in the application of electrochemical energy storage devices due to the low cost,the abundant resources and the low standard reduction potential of potassium.As electrode materials are the key factors to determine the electrochemical performance of devices,relevant research is being carried out to build high-performance PIBs.In recent years,significant progress has been made in the study of the design of inorganic electrode materials.Herein,we review the cathode materials(Prussian blue and its analogues,layered oxides and poly anionic compounds)and the anode materials(antimony-based,selenium-based and bismuth-based compounds).On the basis of previous work,the structural design principles for improving the performance of electrode materials are reasonably summarized.At the same time,the problems that need to be solved in the preparation of electrode materials and the direction of future research and improvement are pointed out.

Effect of microstructure and mechanical properties on cutting force of different cast irons with similar tensile strength

Flake graphite iron, compacted graphite iron and spheroidal graphite iron with various tensile strengths were cast. They were selected and grouped according to roughly the same tensile strength, and then the main cutting force in each group was measured and compared. The microstructures of different cast irons were characterized. The relationship between the cutting force and microstructure was established. Results show that the graphite morphology in cast irons determines the strength. In order to obtain the same strength of the cast iron with sharply edged graphite, more or finer pearlite in the matrix is needed. Graphitic cast irons with high pearlite content and smaller pearlite interlamellar spacing have higher hardness. For the cast irons with different graphite morphologies, but almost the same tensile strength, the main cutting force is obviously different, along with the hardness. Harder cast irons have a greater cutting force, but the difference in cutting force is not proportional to hardness.
