The aim of this research was to evaluate weathered spent mushroom substrate （SMS）, made from spent Flammulina velutipes mushroom substrate, as a growing medium for nursery seedlings. Two vegetable species, cucumber （Cucumis sativus L. cv. Jinchun No. 2） and tomato （Solanurn lycopersicum L. cv. Mandy）, were grown in 8 media of SMS in various ratios with perlite or vermiculite. A mixed substrate of peat with perlite （1：1; v：v） was used as the control （CK）. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design under greenhouse conditions. Prior to sowing, some physical and chemical properties of the growing media were determined. Results showed that all the mixtures had desirable physical and chemical properties for their use in nursery tomato and cucumber seedlings except for the T4 （SMS：vermiculite = 1：1; v：v） and the T8 （SMS：perlite = 2：1; v：v） mixtures. Compared with the CK, increased plant height, leaf area, fresh weight, dry weight and index of seedling quality were found in the T3 （SMS：vermiculite = 2：1; v：v） and T6 （SMS：perlite = 4：1; v：v） growing media. SMS should be considered as an alternative for the widely used but expensive and resource-limited peat in greenhouse cultivation.

The problem of body-fixed hovering over an asteroid using a compact form of nonideal solar sails with a controllable area is investigated. Nonlinear dynamic equations describing the hovering problem are constructed for a spherically symmet- ric asteroid. Numerical solutions of the feasible region for body-fixed hovering are obtained. Different sail models, including the cases of ideal, optical, parametric and solar photon thrust, on the feasible region is studied through numerical simulations. The influence of the asteroid spinning rate and the sail area-to-mass ratio on the feasi- ble region is discussed. The required orientations for the sail and their corresponding variable lightness numbers are given for different hovering radii to identify the feasible region of the body-fixed hovering. An attractive scenario for a mission is introduced to take advantage of solar sail hovering.

SEM and Field emitting TEM-EDAX were used to investigate the fracture surface of series impact specimens and the grain boundary chemistries of VIM(vacuum-inductionmelted) Fe-38 Mn austenitic alloy before and after ESR(electroslag remelting,).The quantity and the size of inclusions were also *** results show that the VIM Fe-38 Mn austenitinic alloy water-quenched from 1 100 C undergoes an obvious ductile-to-brittle transition,and the impact work at ambient temperature is 242 J,the corresponding fracture surface exhibits a dimple ***,the impact work at 77 K of VIM alloy is only 25 J and the fracture mode is IGF(intergranular fracture).After ESR,the impact work at ambient temperature is 320 J and the fracture surface exhibits a character of "volcano lava"(meaning excellent toughness);The impact work at 77 K is up to 300 J and the fracture mode is micro void coalescence mixed with *** segregation of Mn is not found in all specimens,but the segregation of S is observed,and the S segregation is decreased after *** examined results of inclusions show that ESR reduces the quantity and improves the morphology of *** the above results it can be seen that the cryogenic IGF of VIM Fe-38 Mn austenitic alloy is related to the S segregation at grain *** ESR the decrease in the quantity and size of inclusion results in the increase of the impact work at ambient temperature,while the restriction of IGF is related to the decrease in the total level,and hence in the grain boundary segregation of S.

AIM: To examine the expression of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), also known as CCN2, in gastric carcinoma (GC), and the correlation between the expression of CTGF, clinicopathologic features and clinical outcomes of patients with GC. METHODS: One hundred and twenty-two GC patients were included in the present study. All patients were followed up for at least 5 years. Proteins of CTGF were detected using the Powervision two-step immunostaining method. RESULTS: Of the specimens from 122 GC patients analyzed for CTGF expression, 58 (58/122, 47.5%) had a high CTGF expression in cytoplasm of gastric carcinoma cells and 64 (64/122, 52.5%) had a low CTGF expression. Patients with a high CTGF expression showed a higher incidence of lymph node metastasis than those with a low CTGF expression (P = 0.032). Patients with a high CTGF expression had significantly lower 5-year survival rate than those with a low CTGF expression (27.6% vs 46.9%, P = 0.0178), especially those staging Ⅰ+Ⅱ+Ⅲ (35.7% vs 65.2%, P = 0.0027). CONCLUSION: GC patients with an elevated CTGF expression have more lymph node metastases and a shorter survival time. CTGF seems to be an independent prognostic factor for the successful differentiation of high-risk GC patients staging Ⅰ+Ⅱ+Ⅲ. Over-expression of CTGF in human GC cells results in an increased aggressive ability.

Previous studies recognized three major lineages of the family Costaceae:a South American clade,an Asian clade and a Costus ***,the genus Hellenia within the Asian clade has been shown to be non-monophyletic and its morphology has not been studied ***,the complete plastid genomes of Hellenia species were obtained and the monophyly of Hellenia was tested through four different datasets in this *** phylogenomic analyses of Costaceae revealed that Hellenia is strongly supported as *** major clades are recovered,namely the Hellenia *** and the Parahellenia *** analyses based on an enlarged taxon sampling of the Asian clade using a two chloroplast markers dataset(trnK intron and trnL-F spacer)confirmed the paraphyly of ***,morphological analyses suggested that members of the Parahellenia subclade differ from the remaining Hellenia species in many characters including inflorescences,bracts,stigma,axillary buds,floral tubes and *** to the present molecular and morphological evidence,the latter subclade is recognized as a new genus,*** new species are described,four new combinations are made,and identification keys are also provided.

Quasi-biennial Oscillations(QBOs)of the Sun have a significant meaning as a benchmark of solar cycle,not only for understanding the dynamo action but also in terms of space weather *** this paper,the hand-drawn sunspot images recorded from the Purple Mountain Observatory are used to investigate the solar QBOs and the Gnevyshev gap of the sunspot relative numbers(Rs)and group sunspot numbers(Rg)during the period 1954–*** main results are as follows:(1)both the Rs and Rg exhibit similar periods including the 22-year magnetic cycle,the 11-year Schwabe cycle,and the QBOs modes;(2)the reconstructed QBOs of both data sets exhibit coherent behavior and tend to have a high amplitude during the maximum phase of each solar cycle;(3)the Gnevyshev gap is produced by the superposition of the QBOs and the 11-year Schwabe cycle,and the Rs is better to study the variation of the Gnevyshev gap rather than the Rg.
