Effect of High Positive Acceleration(+Gz) Environment on Dental Implant Osseointegration:A Preliminary Animal Study

Objective To observe the effect of high positive acceleration(+Gz) environment on dental implant osseointegration in a rabbit model and to investigate its *** Forty-eight New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into 6 groups. The rabbit’s mandibular incisors were extracted and 1 implant was placed in each socket immediately. After 1 week of rest, the rabbits were exposed to a high +Gz environment, 3 times a week. The rabbits were sacrificed at 3 weeks(2 weeks +Gz exposure), 5 weeks(4 weeks +Gz exposure), and 12 weeks(4 weeks +Gz exposure and 7 weeks normal environment) after surgery, respectively. Specimens were harvested for micro-CT scanning, histological analysis, and real-time polymerase chain reaction *** Compared with those in the control group, the mRNA expression levels of bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP-2), osteopontin(OPN), and transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)were significantly lower(P < 0.05), while the mRNA expression level of receptor activator of nuclear factor κB ligand(RANKL) and the RANKL/osteoprotegerin(OPG) ratio were significantly higher(P < 0.05)at 3 weeks;values of bone volume fraction, trabecular number, bone-implant contact(BIC), and TGF-β1 and OPG mRNA expression levels were significantly lower(P < 0.05), and the value of trabecular separation, RANKL mRNA expression level and RANKL/OPG ratio were significantly higher(P < 0.05) at 5 weeks;and the value of BIC was still significantly lower(P < 0.05) at 12 weeks in the experimental *** Early exposure to the high +Gz environment after implant surgery might have an adverse effect on osseointegration, and its mechanism could be related to the inhibition of osteoblast activity and promotion of osteoclast activity.

On load dependence of detachment rate of kinesin motor

Kinesin is an archetypal microtubule-based molecular motor that can generate force to transport cargo in cells. The load dependence of the detachment rate is an important factor of the kinesin motor, the determination of which is critically related to the chemomechanical coupling mechanism of the motor. Here, we use three models for the load dependence of the detachment rate of the kinesin motor to study theoretically and numerically the maximal force generated and microtubuleattachment duration of the motor. By comparing the theoretical and numerical results with the available experimental data,we show that only one model can explain well the available experimental data, indicating that only this model can be applicable to the kinesin motor.

Personal care products(PCPs)are a class of emerging pollutants that have attracted public concern owing to their harmful effects on humans and the *** data is valuable for insight the levels of PCPs in the human body and can be crucial for identifying potential health *** gain a better understanding of timely exposure profiles and health risk of reproductive-age population to PCPs,we determined six parabens,six benzophenone-type ultraviolet filters,and three disinfectants in 256 urine samples collected from young adults aged 18-44 years in Beijing,*** urinary levels of benzophenone-3(BP-3)and 4-hydroxybenzophenone(4-OHBP)were significantly higher in summer compared to winter,suggesting these compounds have different seasonal usage ***,the total concentration of 15 PCPs in female was 430 ng/mL,approximately two times higher than that in male.P-chloro-m-xylenol(PCMX),as a new type of antibacterial agent,has the greatest level among all target analytes,indicating the increasingly use of this antibacterial alternative *** potential influencing factors that lead to the elevated exposure level of PCPs were *** 19%of the target population had a high hazard index value(greater than 1)which was attributed to exposure to propyl paraben(PrP),benzophenone-1(BP-1),BP-3 and PCMX,indicating that PCPs may pose a relatively high exposure risk at environmental levels that should be a cause for concern.

Dual roles of α1,4-galactosyltransferase 1 in spermatogenesis of Drosophila melanogaster

Spermatogenesis is critical for insect reproduction and the process is regulated by multiple genes. Glycosyltransferases have been shown to participate in the development of Drosophila melanogaster;however, their role in spermatogenesis is still unclear. In this study, we found that alpha 1,4-galactosyltransferase 1 (alpha 4GT1) was expressed at a significantly higher level in the testis than in the ovary of Drosophila. Importantly, the hatching rate was significantly decreased when alpha 4GT1 RNA interference (RNAi) males were crossed with w1118 females, with only a few mature sperm being present in the seminal vesicle of alpha 4GT1 RNAi flies. Immunofluorescence staining further revealed that the individualization complex (IC) in the testes from alpha 4GT1 RNAi flies was scattered and did not move synchronically, compared with the clustered IC observed in the control flies. Terminal deoxyribonucleotide transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay showed that apoptosis signals in the sperm bundles of alpha 4GT1 RNAi flies were significantly increased. Moreover, the expression of several individualization-related genes, such as Shrub, Obp44a and Hanabi, was significantly decreased, whereas the expression of several apoptosis-related genes, including Dronc and Drice, was significantly increased in the testes of alpha 4GT1 RNAi flies. Together, these results suggest that alpha 4GT1 may play dual roles in Drosophila spermatogenesis by regulating the sperm individualization process and maintaining the survival of sperm bundles.

Resource Allocation for RSMA-Aided Multibeam Satellite Communications

This paper investigates the resource allocation for rate-splitting multiple access(RSMA)enabled multibeam satellite communication ***,we minimize the total unmet user rate,which denotes the difference between the users’rate requirement and the practical achievable rate,as well as the total transmit power of the satellite by optimizing the precoding,power allocation,and rate allocation,under the per-feed power and rate *** solve the non-convex optimization problem,a twostage scheme is *** particular,in the first stage,we present a precoding scheme by maximizing the signal-to-leakage-plus-noise ratio of each beam to eliminate the inter-beam *** the second stage,we introduce auxiliary variables to obtain an upper bound on the objective function under the given precoding matrix and transform the rate constraints of the original problem into second-order cones(SOC)and linear matrix inequations(LMI).Then,the successive convex approximation(SCA)technique is used to obtain suboptimal power and rate allocation ***,the initial feasible solution for power allocation is provided by using the standard interior point ***,numerical results verify the superiority of our proposed solution compared to the benchmark methods in terms of objective function values.

The quest for efficient and durable catalysts using abundant resources has garnered significant interest in the field of bifunctional oxygen *** this contribution,we have designed a FeN4or CoN4embedded graphene-based bilayer as active layer and TMC3or TMN3doped graphene as supporting layer,named as FeN4/TMC3or FeN4/TMN3and CoN4/TMC3or CoN4/TMN3,wherein TM strands for transition *** on density functional theory calculations,our results demonstrate that the interaction formed between dual metal atoms in the bilayer interspace leads to the coordination environment altered from flat four-coordination to spatial five-coordination,further stabilizing the bilayer structure and impairing its affinity toward the O-containing *** to thermodynamic analysis,the bilayers of CoN4/CoN3,FeN4/FeC3,FeN4/CoC3,FeN4/NiC3,FeN4/ZnC3,FeN4/FeN3,FeN4/CrN3and FeN4/ZnN3are attractively promising for bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysis due to the small overpotential differenceΔη between oxygen reduction and oxygen evolution that are less than 1 *** functional theory calculations combined with machine learning analysis directly identify the key role played by the interbinding formed between bilayers,that boosts catalytic activity,which establishes a predictable framework for a fast screen for graphene-based bilayer vertical *** work opens up a new path for designing the efficient electrocatalysts via modification of coordination environment.
