Species delim.tation is one of the m.st fundam.ntal processes in *** undertakings,for instance,require explicit species concepts and criteria for species delim.tation in order to be relevant and ***,a perfect species concept does not exist for ***,we review the species concepts com.only used in Basidiom.cota,the second largest phylum.of Fungi that contains som. of the best known species of m.shroom.,rusts,sm.ts,and jelly *** general,best practice is to delim.tate species,publish new taxa,and conduct taxonom.c revisions based on as m.ny independent lines of evidence as possible,that is,by applying a so-called unifying(or integrative)conceptual ***,the types of data used vary considerably from.group to *** this reason we discuss the different classes of Basidiom.cota,and for each provide:(i)a general introduction with difficulties faced in species recognition,(ii)species concepts and m.thods for species delim.tation,and(iii)com.unity recom.endations and conclusions.

The global diversity of fungi has been estim.ted using several different *** is som.where between 2–11 m.llion estim.ted species,but the num.er of form.lly described taxa is around 150,000,a tiny fraction of the *** this paper,we exam.ne 12 ascom.cete genera as case studies to establish trends in fungal species descriptions,and introduce new species in each *** highlight the im.ortance of traditional m.rpho-m.lecular m.thods in publishing new species,we introduce novel taxa in 12 genera that are considered to have low species *** discuss whether the species are likely to be rare or due to a lack of extensive sam.ling and *** genera are Apiospora,Bam.usicola,Beltrania,Capronia,Distoseptispora,Endocalyx,Neocatenulostrom.,Neodeightonia,Paraconiothyrium.Peroneutypa,Phaeoacrem.nium.and *** discuss host-specificity in selected genera and com.are the num.er of species epithets in each genus with the num.er of ITS(barcode)sequences deposited in GenBank and *** furtherm.re discuss the relationship between the divergence tim.s of these genera with those of their *** hypothesize whether there m.ght be m.re species in these genera and discuss hosts and habitats that should be investigated for novel species discovery.

Num.rous new taxa and classifications of Dothideom.cetes have been published following the last m.nograph of fam.lies of Dothideom.cetes in 2013.A recent publication by Honsanan et *** 2020 expanded inform.tion of fam.lies in Dothideo-m.cetidae and Pleosporom.cetidae with m.dern *** this paper,we provide a refined updated docum.nt on orders and fam.lies incertae sedis of *** fam.ly is provided with an updated description,notes,including figures to represent the m.rphology,a list of accepted genera,and econom.c and ecological *** also provide phylogenetic trees for each *** this study,31 orders which consist 50 fam.lies are assigned as orders incertae sedis in Dothideom.cetes,and 41 fam.lies are treated as fam.lies incertae sedis due to lack of m.lecular or m.rphological *** new order,Catinellales,and four new fam.lies,Catinellaceae,m.renoinaceae Neobuelliellaceae and Thyrinulaceae are *** genera(Neobuelliella,Pseudom.crothyrium.Flagellostrigula,Swinscowia,m.croconstrictolum.na,Pseudobogoriella,and Schum.ia)are *** new species(Acrosperm.m.urticae,Bogoriella com.lexolum.nata,Dothiorella ostryae,Dyfrolom.ces distoseptatus,m.croconstrictolum.na m.galateralis,Patellaria m.crospora,and Pseu-dom.crothyrium.thailandicum.are introduced base on m.rphology and phylogeny,together with two new records/reports and five new collections from.different *** new com.inations are also provided in this paper.
