Chiral phosphoramidite ligand-modulated palladium auto-tandem catalysis for asymmetric dehydrogenative dienylation of imines with α-alkenes

The development of efficient processes allowing rapid access to complex chiral molecules from easily available alkenes is a long-term pursuit in the synthetic chemistry community. Transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric functionalization of allylic C–H bond represents a unique alternative toward this goal. However, enantioselective dehydrogenative transformation of olefins to value-added optically enriched molecules remains yet to be discovered. Here, we report a highly enantioselective dehydrogenative dienylation of imines with unactivated α-alkenes driven by the synergistic action of palladium complex and carboxylic acid. Chiral phosphoramidite ligands turned out to be superior in modulating the performance of palladium autotandem catalysis and allowed a broad range of α-alkenes and imines to be transformed into chiral dienylamines. Mechanistic studies suggest that the dienes could be in situ generated from α-alkenes through a palladium(0)-mediated dehydrogenative process in the presence of excess benzoquinone oxidants, and then participated in the Pd-chiral phosphoramidite-catalyzed intermolecular vinylogous-type addition to the imines activated by the carboxylic acid co-catalyst. Notably, the second β-H elimination occurring in the dienylation event might be the turnover-limiting step.

Compatibility of Beauveria bassiana with Neoseiulus barkeri for Control of Frankliniella occidentalis

The entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana （Balsamo） Vuillemin and predatory mite Neoseiulus barked Hughes are effective biological control agents of Frankliniella occidentalis Pergande （Thysanoptera： Thripidae）, one of the most important pests of ornamentals and vegetables world-wide. Combined application of both may enhance control efficiency. The functional response for N. barked on the first instar larvae of western flower thrips which were infected by B. bassiana for 12 and 24 h in the laboratory （（25＋1）℃, （70＋5）% RH, L：D=16 h：8 h） was determined. The virulence of B. bassiana against the second instar and pupae of the thrips attacked by N. barked were also tested. The results showed that N. barked exhibited a Holling type II functional response on treated thrips. After having been treated with the fungus for 12 h and then offered to the predator, thrips were more vulnerable to be killed by N. barked. The second instar larvae and pupae of the thrips which had been attacked by predatory mites were markedly more susceptible to B. bassiana infection than normal thrips; the cumulative corrected mortality of B. bassiana of the second instar and pupae which were attacked by N. barked were 57 and 94%, respectively, compared to 35 and 80% in controls on the day 8. These findings highlight the potential use of B. bassiana in combination with N. barkeri to control F. occidentalis.

AIM: To investigate the designation, synthesis and biological activity of against vascular endothelial growth factor165 (VEGF165) ***: The ribozyme against VEGF165 was designed with computer. The transcriptional vector was constructed which included the anti-VEGF165 ribozyme and 5', 3' selfsplicing ribozymes. The hammerhead ribozyme and substrate VEGF165 mRNA were synthesized through transcription in *** cleavage activity of the ribozyme on target RNA was observed in a cell-free ***: The anti-VEGF165 ribozyme was released properly from the transcription of pGEMRz212 cleaved by 5' and 3' self-splicing ribozymes which retained its catalytic activity,and the cleavage efficiency of ribozyme reached 90.7%.CONCLUSION: The anti-VEGF165 ribozyme designed with computer can cleave VEGF165 mRNA effectively.

Transferring a Gene Expression Cassette Lacking the Vector Backbone Sequences of the 1Ax1 High Molecular Weight Glutenin Subunit into Two Chinese Hexaploid Wheat Genotypes

1Ax1 high molecular weight glutenin subunit （HMW-GS） gene expression cassette （GEC） lacking vector backbone sequences together with selectable marker Bar GEC were co-transformed into Chinese hexaploid cultivars Een 1 and Emai 12 to test the feasibility and the efficiency of explant regeneration, transformation frequency and transgene expression comparing with whole vector transformation by the approaches of plasmid extraction and excision, immature embryo isolation, particle co-bombardment, tissue culture, DNA extraction, PCR amplification, southern hybridization, leaf-painting test and SDS-PAGE etc. No significant difference was shown in tissue culture response of the proportion of embryogenic calli, somatic embryogenesis and regeneration frequency between GEC and whole plasmid bombarded embryos, but both regenerated less well than non-bombarded control. Total 56 plantlets that survived PPT selection had insertion of at least the Bar gene, 18 were from the GEC treatment and 38 from the whole plasmid treatment, the escape ratio averaged 0.23. Six independent transplants f230 - f235 with GEC transformation from genotype Emai 12 presented clear PCR amplification bands of Bar and 1Ax1 gene. The transformation and co-transformation frequency were 3.51 and 100% respectively. PCR amplification using a primer-pair specific for ampicillin resistant gene indicated the existence of Amp^R gene in whole vectors but the removal in GECs and transplants. Southern blot of total DNA and PCR products from transgenic plants of 1Ax1 GEC confirmed the integration of the transgene 1Ax1 and the absence of the EcoR Ⅰ recognition site at both ends of the 1Ax1 GEC when integrated. SDS-PAGE showed the expression of 1Ax1 GEC and un-expression of whole plasmid. The length of integrated fragment, the proportion of the gene of interest （GOI） and the selectable marker （MG）, bombardment pressure and genotypes are vital for the expression of a transformed GEC.

Analysis of Protein Expression Patterns of Silkworm Jinqiu and Its Cross Parents

The differences of protein expression between the improved cross breeding race Jinqiu and its parents were analyzed to discuss the gene construction, and to form a base for illuminating the molecular mechanisms of successful cross breeding in silkworm. Protein samples from silk gland, hemolymph, and midgut were separated by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis （2-DE）. In the three tissues the matched protein spots between Jinqiu and its cross parents were approximately 70% with approximately 30% specific protein spots. In the matched protein spots, 9-24% was differentially expressed representing up- and down-regulated expression. These specific protein spots might be either the newly appeared, which were produced from the genic interaction of cross parents＇ genes in cross breeding, or posttranscriptionally modified, which were produced from the different modifications on the same original proteins. These results indicate that it is important for a new successful breed, by cross breeding, relying on the actions of some newly produced functional proteins from genic interaction, in addition to marshaling excellent genes of cross parents.

Uniaxial tensile deformation behavior of a sandwich-like structural TiNb-NiTi composite for biomedical applications

The uniaxial tensile deformation behavior of a sandwich-like structural TiNb-NiTi composite was investigated by uniaxial tensile test and in situ high-energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction(SXRD).It is found that below 1.2%macroscopic strains,the elastic deformations of the B2,β,B19'andα"phases take place in the TiNbNiTi *** the subsequent loading,theβ→α"and B2→B19'stress-induced martensitic transformations(SIMTs)occur within the macroscopic strains of 0.5%-4.2%and the macroscopic strains of 0.7%-6.2%,*** the macroscopic strain of about 4.2%,the outer TiNb layer of the TiNb-NiTi composite experiences a partial fracture,as proved by the disappearance of(040)_(α")and a sudden jump in the(110)_(B19')d-spacing caused by load *** further uniaxial tensile deformation,the TiNbNiTi composite finally fractures at a strain of~6.2%.Our results might provide some valuable information for understanding the deformation behavior of novel sandwich-like structural shape memory composites in more depth.

Phase equilibria in the Fe-Nb-Zr ternary system at 1,200 °C

Phase equilibria in the Fe-Nb-Zr system at 1,200 ℃ were determined by X-ray diffraction （XRD） and scanning electron microscope （SEM） coupled with energydispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS） techniques. Extensive NbFez domain was proposed in the current work. This compound existed in the composition range from 35 at% to 73 at% Fe, 12 at% to 32 at% Nb, and 0 to 32 at% Zr. In the present work, four three-phase regions （1）-（Nb,Zr）＋ NbFe ＋ NbFe2, （2） [3-（Nb,Zr）＋ NbFe2 ＋ Liquid, （3） NbFe2 ＋ Liquid ＋ ZrFe2, and （4） ZrFe2 ＋ Fe ＋ NbFe2, were established.

FMR1NB Involved in Glioma Tumorigenesis Is a Promising Target for Prognosis and Therapy

Schistosomiasis japonica is caused by infection of Schistosoma japonicum(***),which infected 12 million residents in the 1950s in China and was a heavy burden to public health and socioeconomic development(1).After more than seven decades of effort to control schistosomiasis,the prevalence of schistosomiasis has been reduced dramatically in *** the 450 endemic counties(including city and district-level jurisdictions),74.89%(337/450),21.87%(98/450),and 3.33%(15/450)have achieved the criteria of elimination,transmission interruption,and transmission control of schistosomiasis,*** the overall endemic status of schistosomiasis remains at a low level,the strategies shifted from snail control to morbidity control and then to an integrated strategy that emphasized infection source ***,being a vector-borne and zoonotic disease,schistosomiasis japonica is intricately linked to multiple factors including biological,natural,and socioeconomic risk *** order to eliminate schistosomiasis earlier and more thoroughly,the One Health approach should be adopted,which focuses on solving complex health problems from a macro-level perspective of interactions among human,animal,and environment,emphasizing multi-institution,interdisciplinary,and cross-regional collaboration and communication.
