Unveiling the molecule–plasmon interactions in surface-enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy

Nanostructure-based surface-enhanced infrared absorption(SEIRA) spectroscopy has attracted tremendous interest as an ultrasensitive detection tool that supplies chemical-fingerprint information. The interactions between molecular vibrations and plasmons lead to not only the enhancement of spectral intensity, but also the distortion of spectral Lorentzian lineshapes into asymmetric Fano-type or more complicated lineshapes in the SEIRA spectra; this effect hampers the correct readout of vibrational frequencies and intensities for an accurate interpretation of the measured spectra and quantitative *** this work, we investigate the Fano interference between molecular vibrations and plasmons based on exact electrodynamic simulations and theoretical models. We report that, even if the molecular vibrational energy is equal to the plasmon resonant energy, the molecule–nanostructure distance-dependent dipole–dipole interactions, the plasmon-mediated coherent intermolecular interactions and the decay rates of plasmons have a significant impact on the SEIRA lineshapes. This study paves the way for controllable Fano interference at the nanoscale and more studies on plasmon-dressed molecular electronic or vibrational excited states.

The significance of situation awareness(SA) in power systems has increased to enhance the utilization of gridconnected renewable energy power generation(REPG). This paper proposes a real-time calculation architecture based on the integration of robust optimization(RO) and artificial intelligence. First, the time-series simulation of the REPG consumption capacity is carried out under the current grid operating conditions. RO is employed in this simulation, given the randomness of the REPG output and the grid load. Then, the radial basis function neural network(RBFNN) is trained with the results under different parameters using the artificial fish swarm algorithm(AFSA), enabling the neural network(NN) to be the replacement for the time-series simulation model. The trained NN can quickly perceive the REPG absorption situation within the predefined grid structure and period. Moreover, the Sobol' method is adopted to conduct the global sensitivity analysis for different parameters based on the input-output samples obtained by the trained NN. Finally, the simulation experiments based on the modified IEEE 14-bus system prove the real-time performance and accuracy of the proposed SA architecture.

Reactive distillation and dividing wall column distillation are two kinds of effective separation technologies,and their integrated configuration,reactive dividing wall column(RDWC),presents attractive *** this study,the rigorous simulation of RDWC for methyl acetate hydrolysis is performed,and sensitivity analysis is conducted to obtain the minimum reboiler *** a comparison is made between the conventional process and RDWC process,and it shows that 20.1% energy savings can be achieved by RDWC *** addition,the dynamic characteristic of RDWC is studied and an effective control strategy is *** simple PI control scheme with three temperature loops can obtain reasonable control performance and maintain products at desired *** is proved that this RDWC process is an energy efficiency alternative with good controllability.

The Drosophila homolog of schizophrenia susceptibility gene dysbindin(Ddysb)affects a range of behaviors through regulation of multiple neurotransmitter signals,including dopamine *** gain insights into mechanisms underlying Ddysb-dependent regulation of dopamine signal,we investigated interaction between Ddysb and Ebony,the Drosophilaβ-alanyl-monoamine synthase involved in dopamine *** found that Ddysb was capable of regulating expression of Ebony in a bi-directional manner and its subcellular *** regulation is confined to glial *** expression level of ebony and its accumulation in glial soma depend positively on Ddysb activity,whereas its distribution in glial processes is bound to be reduced in response to any alterations of Ddysb from the normal control level,either an increase or *** optimal binding ratio between Dysb and Ebony might contribute to such non-linear ***,Ddysb-dependent regulation of Ebony could be one of the mechanisms that mediate dopamine signal.

Nano-infrared(nanoIR)probes play a crucial role as nano-mechanical sensors and antennas for light absorption and emission,and their testing performance is critically dependent on their optical properties and structural ***-coated dielectric probes are highly attractive for enhancing light–matter interactions and integrating IR photonics,providing a broadband optical response and strong electromagnetic ***,achieving continuous single-layer graphene growth on non-planar and non-single crystalline dielectrics is a significant challenge due to the low surface energy of the dielectric and the large difference in size between the probe tip,cantilever,and ***,we present a novel method for the growth of high-quality and continuous graphene with good conductivity on non-planar and amorphous dielectric probe surfaces using manganese oxide powder-assisted short time heating chemical vapor *** resulting graphene-coated dielectric probes exhibit an average IR reflectance of only 5%in the mid-IR band,significantly outperforming probes without continuous graphene *** probes can not only effectively transduce the local photothermal sample expansion caused by the absorption of IR laser pulses,but also effectively scatter near-field light,which is 25 times stronger than the commercial metal-coated probes,and have advantages in the application of nanoIR sensing based on atomic force microscope-based infrared(AFM-IR)spectroscopy and infrared scattering scanning near field optical microscopy(IR s-SNOM)***,our graphene growth method provides a solution for growing high-quality graphene on the surfaces of non-planar dielectric materials required for integrated circuits and other fields.

Reconstruction of the desert paleoclimate is important to understand the mechanisms that triggered and/or enhanced climate *** optically stimulated luminescence(OSL)dating,grain size,magnetic susceptibility,X-ray powder diffraction(XRD)and geochemical indicators,we provide a welldated record of a sedimentary outcrop on the southeast margin of the Bardain Jaran Desert,Northwest China,during the last glacial *** Qz-OSL ages are obtained,41.0±3.4 ka,54.7±4.4 ka,59.5±5.0 ka and 66.8±5.8 ka,corresponding to the depths of 35 cm,70 cm,150 cm and 200 cm *** like grain size,clay content,magnetic susceptibility,XRD and geochemical index(***,Ba,Sr/Ca)jointly indicate abrupt climate changes at the depth of 35 cm(age,ca.41.0 ka)and200 cm(age,ca.67 ka).Namely,the 280 cm sedimentary outcrop perfectly records a warm wet climate stage,corresponding to the late Marine Isotope Stages(MIS)4 to the early MIS ***,there is a trend of grain size increase after around 40ka BP,which is most likely a signal of wind strength *** research supports that enhancing Siberian High pressure system during the late MIS 3played a key role in NW East Asia climate evolution.

Abrasive waterjet(AWJ)fracturing has become an accepted horizontal multistage stimulation technique due to its flexibility and high efficiency of extensive fracture *** downhole tool failure of AWJ fracturing becomes an issue in the massive hydraulic fracturing because of high velocity and proppant *** paper proposed a 3D computational fluid dynamics(CFD)-based erosion model by considering high-velocity waterjet impact,proppant shear erosion,and specific inner structure of hydra-jet tool *** discrete phase approach was used to track the proppant transport and its concentration *** observation provides strong evidence of erosion patterns and mechanisms obtained from CFD *** results show that the erosion rate has a space dependence in the inner wall of the tool *** severe erosion areas are primarily located at the entries of the *** erosion patterns are found including a‘Rabbit’s ear’erosion at the upper-layer nozzles and a half bottom loop erosion at the lower-layer *** mechanisms attribute to high flow velocity at the entry of nozzles and the inertia force of *** analysis demonstrates that the pumping rate is a primary factor contributing to erosion intensity.

Thermally activated ultrafast diffusion,collision and combination of metal atoms comprise the fundamental processes of synthesizing burgeoning subnanometer metal clusters for diverse ***,so far,no method has allowed the kinetically controllable synthesis of subnanometer metal clusters without compromising metal ***,we have developed,for the first time,a graphene-confined ultrafast radiant heating(GCURH) method for the synthesis of high-loading metal cluster catalysts in microseconds,where the impermeable and flexible graphene acts as a diffusion-constrained nanoreactor for high-temperature *** from graphene-mediated ultrafast and efficient laser-to-thermal conversion,the GCURH method is capable of providing a record-high heating and cooling rate of～109℃/s and a peak temperature above 2000 ℃,and the diffusion of thermally activated atoms is spatially limited within the confinement of the graphene *** a result,due to the kinetics-dominant and diffusion-constrained condition provided by GCURH,subnanometer Co cluster catalysts with high metal loading up to 27.1 wt% have been synthesized by pyrolyzing a Co-based metal-organic framework(MOF)in microseconds,representing one of the highest size-loading combinations and the quickest rate for MOF pyrolysis in the reported *** obtained Co cluster catalyst not only exhibits an extraordinary activity similar to that of most modern multicomponent noble metal counterparts in the electro catalytic oxygen evolution reaction,but is also highly convenient for catalyst recycling and refining due to its single metal *** a novel GCURH technique paves the way for the kinetically regulated,limited diffusion distance of thermally activated atoms,which in turn provides enormous opportunities for the development of sophisticated and environmentally sustainable metal cluster catalysts.
