Animal models of tendon calcification: Past, present, and future

Tendon calcification is a common clinical condition that frequently occurs as a complication after tendon injury and surgery, or as an expression of fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva. This condition can be referred to by various names in clinical practice and literature, including tendon ossification, tendon mineralization, heterotopic ossification, and calcific tendonitis. The exact pathogenesis of tendon calcification remains uncertain, but current mainstream research suggests that calcification is mostly cell mediated. To further elucidate the pathogenesis of tendon calcification and to better simulate the overall process, selecting appropriate experimental animal models is important. Numerous animal models have been utilized in various clinical studies, each with its own set of advantages and limitations. In this review, we have discussed the advancements made in research on animal models of tendon calcification, with a focus on the selection of experimental animals, the sites of injury in these models, and the methods employed for modeling. Observation of HⅠaround three Satellite Galaxies of M31 with FAST:AndromedaⅡ,NGC 205,and NGC 185

With the exceptional sensitivity of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope,we conducted observations of the neutral hydrogen(HⅠ)in the circumgalactic medium of Andromeda’s(M31)satellite galaxies,specifically AndromedaⅡ,NGC 205,and NGC ***,three drift scans were executed for these satellites,with a detection limit of 4×10^(18)cm^(-2)(approximately 1.88×10^(3)M_Θof HⅠmass),followed by a more in-depth scan of a specific *** discovered a C-shaped HⅠarc structure sharing a position and line-of-sight velocity similar to a stellar ring structure around AndromedaⅡ,hinting at a potential connection with AndromedaⅡ.In the context of NGC 205,we identified two mass concentrations in the northeast direction,which could be indicative of tidal streams resulting from the interaction between this galaxy and *** new lumps discovered could be very helpful in solving the missing interstellar medium problem for NGC *** regarding NGC 185are consistent with previous studies,and we did not detect any additional HⅠmaterial around this *** observational results enhance our understanding of the evolution of these satellite galaxies and provide insight into their historical interactions with the galaxy M31.

The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)has the largest aperture and a 19-beam L-band receiver,making it powerful for investigating the neutral hydrogen atomic gas(HI)in the *** present HiFAST(https://***),a dedicated,modular,and self-contained calibration and imaging pipeline for processing the H?data of *** pipeline consists of frequency-dependent noise diode calibration,baseline fitting,standing wave removal using an FFT-based method,flux density calibration,stray radiation correction,and gridding to produce data *** modules can be combined as needed to process the data from most FAST observation modes:tracking,drift scanning,On-The-Fly mapping,and most of their *** HiFAST,the root-mean-square(RMS)noises of the calibrated spectra from all 19 beams were only slightly(~5%)higher than the theoretical *** results for the extended source M33 and the point sources are consistent with the results from *** moment maps(0,1 and 2)of M33 agree well with the results from the Arecibo Galaxy Environment Survey(AGES)with a fractional difference of less than 10%.For a common sample of 221 sources with signal-to-noise ratio S/N>10 from the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA(ALFALFA)survey,the mean value of fractional difference in the integrated flux density,Sint,between the two datasets is approximately 0.005%,with a dispersion of 15.4%.Further checks on the integrated flux density of 23 sources with seven observations indicate that the variance in the flux density of the source with luminous objects(Sint>2.5 Jy km s-1)is less than 5%.Our tests suggest that the FAST telescope,with the efficient,precise,and user-friendly pipeline HiFAST,will yield numerous significant scientific findings in the investigation of the H?in the universe.

Topological domain states and magnetoelectric properties in multiferroic nanostructures

Multiferroic nanostructures have been attracting tremendous attention over the past decade, due to their rich cross-coupling effects and prospective electronic applications. In particular, the emergence of some exotic phenomena in size-confined multiferroic systems, including topological domain states such as vortices, center domains, and skyrmion bubble domains, has opened a new avenue to a number of intriguing physical properties and functionalities, and thus underpins a wide range of applications in future nanoelectronic devices. It is also highly appreciated that nano-domain engineering provides a pathway to control the magnetoelectric properties, which is promising for future energy-efficient spintronic devices. In recent years, this field, still in its infancy, has witnessed a rapid development and a number of challenges *** this article, we shall review the recent advances in the emergent domain-related exotic phenomena in multiferroic nanostructures. Specific attention is paid to the topological domain structures and related novel physical behaviors as well as the electric-field-driven magnetic switching via domain engineering. This review will end with a discussion of future challenges and potential directions.

Biodegradable implants based on photo-cross-linked aliphatic polycarbonates for long-acting contraception

In this study,a new class of biodegradable contraceptive implants was prepared via the UV irradiation molding method,among which,progestin levonorgestrel(LNG)was used as a model ***-cross-linked aliphatic polycarbonates(APCs),namely,poly(trimethylene carbonate-co-2,2′-dimethyltrimethylene carbonate)[P(TMC-co-DTC)]elastomers,were used as the drug delivery *** results obtained from the degradation experiments carried out in Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats showed that the cross-linked elastomer had the degradation characteristics of the surface erosion degradation mechanism,with no generation of acid degradation products,and excellent form-stability,which met the performance requirements of the matrix for a long-acting sustained-release delivery *** in vitro cytotoxicity tests and histological and immunohistochemical evaluations showed good biocompatibility and biosafety of the elastomer matrix material and contraceptive ***,the implant formulations were screened by in vitro release experiments,and their release kinetics were ***,in the evaluation study of the in vivo anti-fertility effect,the implants exhibited excellent dimensional stability and were degraded by a surface erosion *** achieved a stable and sustained release in female SD rats,maintaining a long-acting contraceptive duration of up to 4 *** contraceptive implants obtained in this study could be used to address the limitations of currently available formulations,which required secondary surgical removal and a single means of regulating drug release ***,these implants could provide a new option for birth control needs and may be of significance in reducing the incidence of induced abortion and protecting female fertility.

Magnetic skyrmions are vortex-like spin configurations that possess nanometric dimensions,topological stability,and high controllability through various external *** their first experimental observation in helimagnet MnSi in 2009,magnetic skyrmions have emerged as a highly promising candidate for carrying information in future high-performance,low-energy-consumption,non-volatile information storage,and logical *** this article,we provide a comprehensive review of the progress made in the field of magnetic skyrmions,specifically in materials,manipulation,detection,and application in spintronic ***,we introduce several representative skyrmion material systems,including chiral magnets,magnetic thin films,centrosymmetric materials,and Van der Waals *** then discuss various methods for manipulating magnetic skyrmions,such as electric current and electric field,as well as detecting them,mainly through electrical means such as the magnetoresistance ***,we explore device applications based on magnetic skyrmions,such as track memory,logic computing,and neuromorphic ***,we summarize the challenges faced in skyrmion research and provide future perspectives.

Unlocking the charge doping effect in softly intercalated ultrathin ferromagnetic superlattice

The electrolyte-assisted exfoliation strategy is widely employed to synthesize ultrathin two-dimensional(2D)***,spins in 2D magnets are susceptible to the electrolyte due to the underlying charge doping ***,it is crucial to understand and trace the doping process during the delamination of 2D *** the prototype Fe_(3)GeTe_(2),we utilized soft organic cations to exfoliate the bulk and obtain a freestanding organ-ic–inorganic hybrid superlattice with a giant electron doping effect as high as 6.9×10^(14)/cm^(2)(~1.15 electrons per formula unit).A remarkable ferromagnetic transition exceeding 385 K was revealed in these superlattices,together with unique anisotropic saturation *** doping enhanced the in-plane electron–phonon coupling and thus optimized originally poor indirect double-exchange scenario for spin *** emerging vertical magnetization shift phenomenon served to evaluate the uniformity of charge *** above findings provide a new perspective for understanding the role of parasitic charge in 2D magnetism.

为解决辣椒人工去雄制种成本高、种子纯度难以保障的问题,促进辣椒产业的良性发展,开展了辣椒核质互作雄性不育三系的选育。首先从代号为149的辣椒后代中发现了不育株,然后通过杂交、回交和自交的育种手段,选育出了辣椒不育系BC_(8)149A-2、保持系F_(10)149B-2、恢复系WYS-1。经不育系与保持系杂交效果稳定性试验,保持系F_(10)149B-2对不育系BC_(8)149A-2的不育性恢复效果达到100%,是一对合格的不育系和保持系;经不育系与恢复系产量配合力测定,不育系BC_(8)149A-2与恢复系WYS-1杂交产量配合力表现最好,均显著高于对照哈椒6号。三系的获得提高了制种效率,降低了制种成本,解决了人工去雄不彻底而造成种子纯度不高的问题,为辣椒核质互作雄性不育三系的选育提供了参考。

The controllable manipulation of polar topological structures(*** bubble)in ferroelectric materials have been considered as a cornerstone for future programmable ***,we present the effective creation and erasure of polar bubble states PbTiO_(3)(PTO)multilayers trigged by mechanical stress and light illumination,*** was found that applying atomic force microscope(AFM)tip force can induced formation of nanoscale bubble domains from the initial monodomain ***,the created bubble domain can be eliminated by exposure to ultraviolet or infrared light *** above results can be understood by modulation of depolarization screening charges and bias fields,as reflected by scanning Kelvin potential microscopic(SKPM)observations,whereby the flexoelectric effect from the tip force tends to remove the screening charges on top surface and modulate the bias field that favors the formation of bubble state while light illumination tends to recover the screen charges and favor the monodomain *** results provide a good example for multi-field manipulation of polar topologies,which might create a new avenue towards the immerging new concept electronic devices.
