Effects of dynamical spanwise retraction and stretch on flapping-wing forward flights

Birds and bats retract and stretch their wings dynamically during each flap in level flights, implying intriguing mechanisms for the aerodynamic performance improvement of flapping wings. A numerical investigation into the aerodynamic effects of such bio-inspired concept in forward flights has been performed based on a three-dimensional wing in plunging motion and a twosection wing in flapping motion. The currently considered Reynolds number and Strouhal number are Re=1.5×10^(5) and St=0.3, respectively. During the research, the mean angle of attack is varied in relatively wide ranges to achieve lift-thrust interconversion for the wings. The conclusive results show that dynamical spanwise retraction and stretch has induced three absolutely desirable scenarios for the oscillating wings in forward flights, namely producing more lift and consuming less power for a given thrust generation, producing more thrust and consuming less power for a given lift generation, and producing more lift and more thrust while consuming less power. Furthermore,the morphing wings have alleviated periodical aerodynamic load fluctuations compared with the non-morphing baseline. The mechanism of the aerodynamic effects of the bionic morphing mode is analyzed with the aid of field visualization. The current article is the first to reveal the absolute advantages of the bionic spanwise morphing. Hopefully, it may help comprehend the behaviors of natural fliers and provide inspirations for performance enhancement of micro artificial flappingwing vehicles.

Experimental Study on the Effect of Increased Downstroke Duration for an FWAV with Morphing-coupled Wing Flapping Configuration

This paper is based on a previously developed bio-inspired Flapping Wing Aerial Vehicle(FWAV),RoboFalcon,which can fly with a morphing-coupled flapping *** this paper,a simple flapping stroke control system based on Hall effect sensors is designed and applied,which is capable of assigning different up-and down-stroke speeds for the RoboFalcon platform to achieve an adjustable downstroke *** aerodynamic and power characteristics of the morphing-coupled flapping pattern and the conventional flapping pattern with varying downstroke ratios are measured through a wind tunnel experiment,and the corresponding aerodynamic models are developed and analyzed by the nonlinear least squares *** relatively low power consumption of the slow-downstroke mode of this vehicle is verified through outdoor flight *** results of wind tunnel experiments and flight tests indicate that increased downstroke duration can improve aerodynamic and power performance for the RoboFalcon platform.

目的:面对“Z世代”大学生日益凸显的心理健康问题和新能源汽车智能座舱正朝着场景智能化、情感化服务、多模态融合交互等方向发展的趋势,将美育和艺术治疗应用于新能源汽车领域,开展车载虚拟空间交互设计研究,能够使新能源汽车为“Z世代”大学生提供情绪价值,以提升其审美力、心理健康水平和幸福感。方法:文章采用SAS焦虑自评量表等调查问卷及访谈法收集数据,调查“Z世代”大学生情绪问题及其对新能源汽车的需求。应用唐纳德·诺曼基于反思层的情感化设计理论和凯伦·霍尔兹布拉特的情景化设计方法,以及艺术治疗、美育、人工智能等方法。关键技术与算法模型在考虑国外新能源汽车发展的理念和趋势以及国内实际情况的基础上,对情感识别、深度学习、多模态融合交互和情感化人工智能等技术进行合理的组合和应用。结果:基于调查数据进行客户画像和情景化故事板设计,在此基础上设计出基于人工智能的车载“美育&美愈”虚拟空间交互模型,以实现预期的研究目标。结论:调查发现,“Z世代”大学生存在各种消极情绪,平均焦虑指数高于正常值,而基于人工智能的车载“美育&美愈”虚拟空间交互模型有助于缓解其焦虑情绪,培养审美能力,具有应用价值和推广前景。研究不仅拓展了基于人工智能的美育与艺术治疗的应用领域,还为针对“Z世代”的新能源汽车交互设计提供了新的视角和实施路径。

Development of a Bird-like Flapping-wing Aerial Vehicle with Autonomous Take-off and Landing Capabilities

The lack of autonomous take-off and landing capabilities of bird-like flapping-wing aerial vehicles(BFAVs)seriously restricts their further development and ***,combined with the current research results on the autonomous take-off and landing technology of unmanned aerial vehicles,four types of technologies are studied,including jumping take-off and landing technology,taxiing take-off and landing technology,gliding take-off and landing technology,and vertical take-off and landing(VTOL)*** on the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)-comprehensive evaluation method,a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model for the autonomous take-off and landing scheme of a BFAV is established,and four schemes are evaluated *** results show that under the existing technical conditions,the hybrid layout VTOL scheme is the ***,the detailed design and development of the prototype of a BFAV with a four-rotor hybrid layout are carried out,and the vehicle performance is *** results prove that through the four-rotor hybrid layout design,the BFAV has good autonomous take-off and landing *** power consumption analysis shows that for a fixed-point reconnaissance mission,when the mission radius is less than 3.38 km,the VTOL type exhibits longer mission duration than the hand-launched type.

Fracture Characteristics and Heat Accumulation of Jixianian Carbonate Reservoirs in the Rongcheng Geothermal Field, Xiong'an New Area

Geothermal energy plays an important role in urban construction of the Xiong’an New Area. Geothermal reservoir fracture distribution of the Mesoproterozoic Jixianian Wumishan Formation(Fm.) carbonate reservoir in the Rongcheng geothermal field are evaluated based on FMI log from Wells D19 and D21. The results show carbonate reservoir fracture density of Well D19 is 15.2/100 m, greater than that of Well D21 with a value of 9.2/100 m. Reservoir porosity and permeability of Well D19 are better than that of Well D21, and the water saturation is bimodally distributed. The movable fluid volume ratio(BVM) of Well D19 is 2% to 8% with some zones exceeding 20%, while the value of Well D21 is less than 4%. Therefore, reservoir fractures in Well D19 are more conducive to fluid flow. Reservoir fractures have a similar occurrence to normal faults, indicating that the tensile stress field controlled the formation of such fractures. Developed reservoir fractures provide a good channel for groundwater convection. The circulation of regional groundwater and the heat exchange between water and rock and the multiple heat accumulation patterns form a stable and high potential heat reservoir in the Rongcheng geothermal field.

A novel fractal-statistical scaling model of rocks considering strain rate

The scaling-dependent behaviors of rocks are significant to the stability and safe operation of the structures built in or on rock masses for practical ***,many size effect models are employed to connect laboratory measurements at small scales and engineering applications at large ***,limited works consider the strain rate *** this study,an fractal-statistical scaling model incorporating strain rate is proposed based on a weakest-link approach,fractal theory and dynamic fracture *** proposed scaling model consists of 8 model parameters with physical meaning,***-dependent parameter,intrinsic material parameter,dynamic strain rate,quasi-static strain rate,quasi-static fracture toughness,micro-crack size,micro-crack intensity and fractal dimension,enabling the proposed scaling model to model the scaling behaviors under different external *** predictions are consistent with experimental data on red sandstone,proving the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed scaling ***,the scaling behaviors of rocks under dynamic loading conditions can be captured by the proposed fractal-statistical scaling *** sensitivity analysis indicates that the nominal strength difference becomes more obvious with a higher strain rate,larger fractal dimension,smaller micro-crack size or lower micro-crack ***,the proposed scaling model has the potential to capture the scaling behaviors considering the thermal effect,weathering effect,anisotropic characteristic etc.,as the proposed scaling model incorporated model parameters with physical *** findings of this study are of fundamental importance to understand the scaling behaviors of rock under dynamic loading condition,and thus would facilitate the appropriate design of rock engineering.

A robust optimization method for energy management of CCHP microgrid

Energy management is facing new challenges due to the increasing supply and demand uncertainties,which is caused by the integration of variable generation resources,inaccurate load forecasts and non-linear efficiency *** meet these challenges,a robust optimization method incorporating piecewise linear thermal and electrical efficiency curve is proposed to accommodate the uncertainties of cooling,thermal and electrical load,as well as photovoltaic(PV)output *** study results demonstrate that the robust optimization model performs better than the deterministic optimization model in terms of the expected operation *** fluctuation of net electrical load has greater effect on the dispatching results of the combined cooling,heating and power(CCHP)microgrid than the fluctuation of the cooling and thermal *** day-ahead schedule is greatly affected by the uncertainty budget of the load *** economy of the optimal decision could be achieved by adjusting different uncertainty budget levels according to control the conservatism of the model.

Interlayer environment engineered MXene: Pre-intercalated Zn^(2+)ions as intercalants renders the modulated Li storage

The intercalation of foreign species into MXene, as an approach of tuning the interlayer environment, is employed to improve electrochemical ion storage behaviors. Herein, to understand the effect of confined ions by the MXene layers on the performance of electrochemical energy storage, Zn^(2+) ions were employed to intercalate into MXene via an electrochemical technique. Zn^(2+) ions induced a shrink of the adjacent MXene layers. Meaningfully, a higher capacity of lithium ion storage was obtained after Zn^(2+) preintercalation. In order to explore the roles of the intercalated Zn^(2+) ions, the structural evolution, and the electronic migration among Zn, Ti and the surface termination were investigated to trace the origination of the higher Li^(+) storage capacity. The pre-intercalated Zn^(2+) ions lost electrons, meanwhile Ti of MXene obtained electrons. Moreover, a low-F surface functional groups was achieved. Contrary to the first shrink, after 200 cycles, a larger interlayer distance was monitored, this can accelerate the ion transport and offer a larger expansile space for lithium storage. This may offer a guidance to understand the roles of the confined ion by two-dimensional(2D) layered materials.
