In this paper,the seismic responses and resilience of a novel K-type superelastic shape memory alloy(SMA)self-centring(SC)eccentrically braced frame(EBF)are investigated.The simulation models of the SMA-based SC-EBF and a corresponding equal-stiffness traditional EBF counterpart are first established based on some existing tests.Then twenty-four near-fault ground motions are used to examine the seismic responses of both EBFs under design basis earthquake(DBE)and maximum considered earthquake(MCE)levels.Structural fragility and loss analyses are subsequently conducted through incremental dynamic analyses(IDA),and the resilience of the two EBFs are eventually estimated.The resilience assessment basically follows the framework proposed by Federal Emergency and Management Agency(FEMA)with the additional consideration of the maximum residual inter-storey drift ratio(MRIDR).The novel SMA-based SC-EBF shows a much better resilience in the study and represents a promising attractive alternative for future applications.

Ti-Al-V-Zr quaternary titanium alloys were designed followingα-{[Al-Ti12](AlTi2)}17-n+β-{[Al-Ti12Zr2](V3)}n,where n=1-7(the number ofβunits),on the basis of the dual-cluster formula of popular Ti-6Al-4V alloy.Such an alloying strategy aims at strengthening the alloy via Zr and V co-alloying in theβ-Ti unit,based on the originalβformula[Al-Ti14](V2Ti)of Ti-6Al-4V alloy.The microstructures of the as-cast alloys by copper-mold suction-casting change from pureα(n=1)toα+α’martensite(n=7).When n is 6,Ti-5.6Al-6.8V-8.1Zr alloy reaches the highest ultimate tensile strength of 1,293 MPa and yield strength of 1,097 MPa,at the expense of a low elongation of 2%,mainly due to the presence of a large amount of acicularα’martensite.Its specific strength far exceeds that of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by 35%.

Developing electrochemical energy storage devices with high energy and power densities,long cycling life,as well as low cost is of great significance.Hybrid metal-ion capacitors(MICs),commonly consisting of high energy battery-type anodes and high power capacitor-type cathodes,have become a trade-off between batteries and supercapacitors.Tremendous efforts have been devoted to searching for high-performance electrode materials due to poor rate capability of anodes,low capacity of cathodes,and interior sluggish kinetic match.Carbon materials with large surface area,good electrical conductivity and stability have been considered to be ideal candidates for electrodes of MICs.In this review,the advanced carbon materials directly as cathodes and anodes of MICs are systematically summarized.Then,the key structural/chemical factors including the structure engineering,porous characteristics,and heteroatom incorporation for improving electrochemical performance of carbon materials are highlighted.Additionally,the challenges and opportunities for future research on carbon materials in MICs are also proposed.

BACKGROUND An increasing number of studies have focused on the role of cellular metabolism in the development of colorectal cancer(CRC).However,no work is currently available to synthesize the field through bibliometrics.AIM To analyze the development in the field of“glucose metabolism”(GM),“amino acid metabolism”(AM),“lipid metabolism”(LM),and“nucleotide metabolism”(NM)in CRC by visualization.METHODS Articles within the abovementioned areas of GM,AM,LM and NM in CRC,which were published from January 1,1991,to December 31,2022,are retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and analyzed by CiteSpace 6.2.R4 and VOSviewer 1.6.19.RESULTS The field of LM in CRC presented the largest number of annual publications and the fastest increase in the last decade compared with the other three fields.Meanwhile,China and the United States were two of the most prominent contri-butors in these four areas.In addition,Gang Wang,Wei Jia,Maria Notar-nicola,and Cornelia Ulrich ranked first in publication numbers,while Jing-Yuan Fang,Senji Hirasawa,Wei Jia,and Charles Fuchs were the most cited authors on average in these four fields,respectively.“Gut microbiota”and“epithelial-mesenchymal transition”emerged as the newest burst words in GM,“gut microbiota”was the latest outburst word in AM,“metastasis”,“tumor microenvironment”,“fatty acid metabolism”,and“metabolic reprogramming”were the up-to-date outbreaking words in LM,while“epithelial-mesenchymal transition”and“apoptosis”were the most recently occurring words in NM.CONCLUSION Research in“cellular metabolism in CRC”is all the rage at the moment,and researchers are particularly interested in exploring the mechanism to explain the metabolic alterations in CRC.Targeting metabolic vulnerability appears to be a promising direction in CRC therapy.

●Multiple evanescent white dot syndrome(MEWDS)is a rare fundus disease,characterized by acute vision loss and visual field defects.Many previous studies have explained the possible pathogenesis and clinical features of primary MEWDS.However,as the number of reported cases increases,secondary MEWDS occurs in other related retinal diseases and injuries,exhibiting some special characteristics.The associated retinal diseases include multifocal choroiditis/punctate inner choroidopathy(MFC/PIC),acute zonal occult outer retinopathy,best vitelliform macular dystrophy,pseudoxanthoma elasticum,and ocular toxoplasmosis.The related retinal injury is laser photocoagulation,surgery,and trauma.Although primary MEWDS often have a self-limiting course,secondary MEWDS may require treatment in some cases,according to the severity of concomitant diseases and complications.Notably,MEWDS secondary to MFC/PIC that is prone to forming choroidal neovascularization and focal choroidal excavation,needs positive treatment with corticosteroids.The possible underlying pathogenesis of secondary MEWDS is the exposure of choroidal antigen after the disruption of Bruch’s membrane.The MEWDS-related features in secondary MEWDS are still evanescent under most circumstances.Its prognosis and treatment depend on the severity of complications.Current studies propose that the etiology is associated with immune factors,including viral infection,inflammation in choroid and Bruch’s membrane,and antigen exposure caused by retinal and/or choroidal insults.More pathogenic studies should be conducted in the future.Accurate diagnosis for secondary MEWDS could benefit patients in aspects of management and prognosis.

BACKGROUND Some hydatid cysts of cystic echinococcosis type 1(CE1)lack well-defined cyst walls or distinctive endocysts,making them difficult to differentiate from simple hepatic cysts.AIM To investigate the diagnostic methods for atypical hepatic CE1 and the clinical efficacy of laparoscopic surgeries.METHODS The clinical data of 93 patients who had a history of visiting endemic areas of CE and were diagnosed with cystic liver lesions for the first time at the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region(China)from January 2018 to September 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.Clinical diagnoses were made based on findings from serum immunoglobulin tests for echinococcosis,routine abdominal ultrasound,high-frequency ultrasound,abdominal computed tomography(CT)scan,and laparoscopy.Subsequent to the treatments,these patients underwent reexaminations at the outpatient clinic until October 2023.The evaluations included the diagnostic precision of diverse examinations,the efficacy of surgical approaches,and the incidence of CE recurrence.RESULTS All 93 patients were diagnosed with simple hepatic cysts by conventional abdominal ultrasound and abdominal CT scan.Among them,16 patients were preoperatively diagnosed with atypical CE1,and 77 were diagnosed with simple hepatic cysts by high-frequency ultrasound.All the 16 patients preoperatively diagnosed with atypical CE1 underwent laparoscopy,of whom 14 patients were intraoperatively confirmed to have CE1,which was consistent with the postoperative pathological diagnosis,one patient was diagnosed with a mesothelial cyst of the liver,and the other was diagnosed with a hepatic cyst combined with local infection.Among the 77 patients who were preoperatively diagnosed with simple hepatic cysts,4 received aspiration sclerotherapy of hepatic cysts,and 19 received laparoscopic fenestration.These patients were intraoperatively diagnosed with simple hepatic cysts.During the followup period,none of the 14 patients with CE1 experienced recurrence or implantation of hydatid sc

Arsenic(As) fate in paddy fields has been one of the most significant current issues due to the strong As accumulation potential of rice plants under fooded conditions. However,no attempt was done to explore As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions. Herein, we investigated the effects of water management on As methylation and volatilization in three arsenic-contaminated soils enhanced by biostimulation with strawderived organic matter and bioaugmentation with genetic engineered Pseudomonas putida KT2440(GE P. putida). Under fooded conditions, the application of biochar(BC), rice straw(RS)and their combination(BC+RS) increased total As in porewater. However, these effects were greatly attenuated under non-fooded conditions. Compared with RS amendment alone, the combination of GE P. putida and RS further promoted the As methylation and volatilization,and the promotion percentage under non-fooded conditions were significantly higher than that under fooded conditions. The combined GE P. putida and RS showed the highest efficiency in As methylation(88 μg/L) and volatilization(415.4 μg/(kg·year)) in the non-fooded soil with moderate As contamination. Finally, stepwise multiple linear regression analysis presented that methylated As, DOC and p H in porewater were the most important factors contributing to As volatilization. Overall, our findings suggest that combination of bioaugmentation with GE P. putida and biostimulation with RS/BC+RS is a potential strategy for bioremediation of arsenic-contaminated soils by enhancing As methylation and volatilization under non-fooded conditions.

Purpose:Acute kidney injury(AKI)is one of the most common functional injuries observed in trauma patients.However,certain trauma medications may exacerbate renal injury.Therefore,the early detection of trauma-related AKI holds paramount importance in improving trauma prognosis.Methods:Qualified datasets were selected from public databases,and common differentially expressed genes related to trauma-induced AKI and hub genes were identified through enrichment analysis and the establishment of protein-protein interaction(PPI)networks.Additionally,the specificity of these hub genes was investigated using the sepsis dataset and conducted a comprehensive literature review to assess their plausibility.The raw data from both datasets were downloaded using R software(version 4.2.1)and processed with the"affy"package19 for correction and normalization.Results:Our analysis revealed 585 upregulated and 629 downregulated differentially expressed genes in the AKI dataset,along with 586 upregulated and 948 downregulated differentially expressed genes in the trauma dataset.Concurrently,the establishment of the PPI network and subsequent topological analysis highlighted key hub genes,including CD44,CD163,TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor 1,cytochrome b-245 beta chain,versican,membrane spanning 4-domains A4A,mitogen-activated protein kinase 14,and early growth response 1.Notably,their receiver operating characteristic curves displayed areas exceeding 75%,indicating good diagnostic performance.Moreover,our findings postulated a unique molecular mechanism underlying trauma-related AKI.Conclusion:This study presents an alternative strategy for the early diagnosis and treatment of trauma-related AKI,based on the identification of potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets.Additionally,this study provides theoretical references for elucidating the mechanisms of trauma-related AKI.

The High-energy Fragment Separator(HFRS),which is currently under construction,is a leading international radioactive beam device.Multiple sets of position-sensitive twin time projection chamber(TPC)detectors are distributed on HFRS for particle identification and beam monitoring.The twin TPCs'readout electronics system operates in a trigger-less mode due to its high counting rate,leading to a challenge of handling large amounts of data.To address this problem,we introduced an event-building algorithm.This algorithm employs a hierarchical processing strategy to compress data during transmission and aggregation.In addition,it reconstructs twin TPCs'events online and stores only the reconstructed particle information,which significantly reduces the burden on data transmission and storage resources.Simulation studies demonstrated that the algorithm accurately matches twin TPCs'events and reduces more than 98%of the data volume at a counting rate of 500 kHz/channel.

The vacancy-ordered quadruple perovskite Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12),as a newly-emerging lead-free perovskite system,has attracted great research interest due to its excellent stability and direct band gap.However,the poor luminescence performance limits its application in light-emitting diodes(LEDs)and other fields.Herein,for the first time,an Ag^(+)ion doping strategy was proposed to greatly improve the emission performance of Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12) synthesized by hydrothermal method.Density functional theory calculations combined with experimental results evidence that the weak orange emission from Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12) is attributed to the phonon scattering and energy level crossing due to the large lattice distortion under excited states.Fortunately,Ag^(+)ion doping breaks the intrinsic crystal field environment of Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12),suppresses the crossover between ground and excited states,and reduces the energy loss in the form of nonradiative recombination.At a critical doping amount of 0.8%,the emission intensity of Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12):Ag^(+)reaches the maximum,about eight times that of the pristine sample.Moreover,the doped Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12) still maintains excellent stability against heat,ultraviolet irradiation,and environmental oxygen/moisture.The above advantages make it possible for this material to be used as solid-state phosphors for white LEDs applications,and the Commission International de I’Eclairage color coordinates of(0.31,0.34)and high color rendering index of 90.6 were achieved.More importantly,the white LED demonstrates remarkable operation stability in air ambient,showing almost no emission decay after a long working time for 48 h.We believe that this study puts forward an effective ion-doping strategy for emission enhancement of vacancy-ordered quadruple perovskite Cs_(4)CdBi_(2)Cl_(12),highlighting its great potential as efficient emitter compatible for practical applications.
